  1. Shardblade wouldent be able to cut the spikes, and since Marsh got a shitload of them, it would be difficult to manage to actuallly cut through him. And seriously, a compounding steelrunner... thats just absurd. There is no limit to the speed, except possibly that you might burn up from heat simular to something entering earth orbit if you go to fast, but he can just store heat for that... Noone without simular speed can do anything about that if the steelrunner is aware of them. yeah, szeth is fast, but while szeth runs from a plateu to He better remember to turn of the tin before getting moving thou. The sonic bang would surely hurt like hell.
  2. Completely sidetracked, but a robot moving by bouncing forward, aka the abovementioned rabbit robot, the "Robit" would be a nightmare speaking from an enginering pov. The constant shaking would tear it to pieces if made mechanically;) Thou an army of rabid robits might be a nightmare, I fully acknowledge that. It is hard defending oneself while laughing too. Now, I can´t really draw, but I guess if one wanted to make a powerful one, you could try to use several colors of chalk. Might increase its strength just as much as added details.
  3. Silly thread. Thus one must reply One big advantage for the lightsaber would be that it cuts in all directions. All sides are edges(hotzones, burns.. wichever). A last clap for example, would be impossible. If Szeth had a lightsaber, Dalinar would, unfortunately, have bene dead;) More importantly if its a trained jedi however, is precognition. Think of it as Atium. Its one hell of an advantage. But not all Jedis are great at it. (Yoda when hes on the wookie planet in star wars 3(last of the new ones) sees way further then Atium would allow thou). (as for healing, thats toned down in the movies. It was supposed to be a lightside strength, but that seemed to change later, unsure wich is canon now.)
  4. Since there are no more Atium mistings(I heard that too thou I cant find it either), perhaps when Atium is no longer locked in among the 16, everyone who is an allomancer can burn it since its a god metal? Not sure if I believe that myself, but its possible.
  5. Wooden bullets would work vs Lurchers and Coinshots on short ranges, say 10 meters or so. The blanks of many automatic rifles(the one I used in my military service was atleast) are made out of wood, then there is a... protector(dont know english name for it;)) that is screwed onto the front of the rifle, basically making it into sawdust. With that protector, it made quite a nasty work out of a pumpkin it was tested on. Dont recall the range that was used in that thou(it was 15 years ago ffs;)) surely someone can explain that better then me, but either way, on shorter ranges it should be alot cheaper then aluminium, but equally efficent against coinshots and lurchers.
  6. Anyone considered that Odium may not want to destroy mankind? Hes not Ruin. He might be quite happy with what Mr T did in Jah Keved for example. Perhaps Mr T in his smart state is after saving mankind by transforming Roshar into a world wich Odium will like, filled with hate and suffering, thus it will be saved(thou a horrid place to live for most)
  7. "taln" might not be taln, but he is a worldhopper, or atleast shadesmareuser. (Unless I remember way wrong he is glistening like a summoned shardblade all over, indicating he is coming from somewhere else)
  8. Question is, just how much Lerasium is needed to become an allomancer? Maybe he ate half of it;) Or maybe he figured out how to use the metallic arts without actually eating it, investiture is investiture I guess, but still seems unlikely.
  9. Im more wondering, will Szeth die if he runs out of stormlight while wielding nightblood the way someone from Naltis would die if running out of breaths. That is, if the dying when out of breaths is for everyone, dont recall if it was just returned due to their divine breath being eaten. either way, hes going to gooble stormlight damnation fast, wich could be.. inconvinient if you need it for surges too
  10. Lighting just happends cause the air gets charged in one spot;) As noted, its friggin dangerous if hes not immune himself, and hard to aim And the amount of power he can use.. he is a medium sized nuclear plant in the power he churns out feeding the entire city. Its alot of power, just not that great in a fighting kinda way Either way, if he had a rending or not doesent matter that much, as the most telling part is that he doesent get affected when he uses his power(as far as we can see).
  11. Its odd that he doesent seem to have any issues at all, its what makes me think you can permanently get over the anger issues. Firefight spoiler: Also, Id object to his power only being defensive. Its extremely like he can shoot lightningbolts and the like should he wish to. Lighting is little but charged molecules. Thou that would be dangerous if hes not immune himself. But I guess thats likely, even if we havent heard anything about it. I cant quite recall any epic getting hit by their own power.
  12. In a way the roleplaying books of AD&d do it. Say, forgotten realms novels(drizzt etc) are in the same universe as say, birthright world novels and several others.
  13. We had a wob from atlanta signing 24/1 00:30:00 wich is somewhat cryptic. Yes, everyone inworld assumes its because he is only gifting his powers. But there seems to be no effect when he charges the item during his first interogation either. One thinks it should have some small effect, even if just a grimace or sneer or something, despite the low amount of force. firefight spoiler under theese brackets, sorry about wrong forum. Would that make Edmund immune to the epic anger issue afterwards? And quite possibly, make so he no longer got a weakness? *edit Added spoilerbrackets around firefight spoiler fact that I forgot about:/. Moderator mind moving?
  14. In a way it would make sense for Dalinar to have it, as he cannot use stormfather as a shardblade, and a honorblade propably wont count as a monstrocity for the stormfather(its not a dead spren). He´d get alot of surges, too.
  15. Curi, It is not needed perhaps, but it is helpful. Consider that Regalia is unlikely to appear right on the edge of her possible reach often, or at all. Thus, the circles will not be as far appart as they are in your blog post. The common area where her base could be is much larger then it is in your post, as the circles are closer together. (I could describe my point easier in me own primary language, dont know the proper terms for what I mean in english. ) So while yes, they could get the base without that southeastern mark, getting a mark in the southeast is likely to bite of a large chunk of the area where it could be, as its a large blank on points so far, especially as babylar is very long and narrow(Unless I missremember manhattans geography alot;). Thus it would be valuable. But not absolutely needed. Also, its David there. Its not necesserily a book error when a character is wrong. It may simply be that David dont know math, not that the book is wrong... (thats rather often the case in books really. Chars often lies or are wrong;))
  16. One then wonders, does the weakness change if the thing you fear the most change? Likely not, but possible. As for nightwielder, I suppose he might have been lost in a desert or something, constantly remembering the merciless sun overhead and having nightmares about that?
  17. Noone ever expects the spanish inquisition you mean? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WJXHY2OXGE
  18. Bought "The shadow of what was lost" by James Islington. Nice book. Some parts of the magic was abit handwavey, but it might be lack of explanation just yet(first book of a trilogy) as other parts of the magic was fairly well explained and limited. A fun part was that the author listed Robert Jordan and Brandon Sandersson as major influences to him starting to write (this is his first published book). All in all, well worth reading imho.
  19. Maxxal - I know and agree that Dalinar have been using minute amounts of stormlights at other times, but it was about that one duel. And in it Dalinar does not use enough for it to have any real effect, while Szeth does. Moogle: Give me a weapon that will switch between spear, shield sword and axe faster then I can ask it too during a fight, and I with my very limited training in it will beat a swordmaster. It is such an incredibly huge advantage. And using the enviroment is part of the fight, so that doesent change that Szeth had really won at that point if Kaladin didnt have more power.
  20. Point on the endfight. Dalinar does not use stormlight - or atleast not much of it. It is not visible, and his wound does not heal much. The thing is, Szeth does win against Kaladin, only Kaladin heals it, wich Szeth cannot. Add the fact that Kaladins killstrike on Szeth is a gift, Szeth doesent defend. Add Syl´s ability to be both any weapon Kaladin wants, and a shield when needed. Szeth was more skilled in that fight, but Kaladin had so much more power that Szeth´s skill just wasent enough. When Szeth fought Gavilar, Szeth was rather new to the windrunner skillset himself. It is likely that he gained quite abit more skill in the years between Gavilars death and the end of WoR. Add the shardplate there, and its no wonder Gavilar put up a good fight.
  21. I didnt know there was a white sand pm group. I´d love being added as I liked it. Even if the file screems for a continuation.
  22. Point is, Honor is not replying to a question. Dalinar could have asked why the sky is blue and the "reply" from honor would have been exactely the same. It does not listen to what dalinar says at all. Dalinar is just watching a recording and mistakenly thinks its an interaktive conversation.
  23. More likely those who wouldent let themselves be used as a shardblade survived. The stormfather himself sais so when speaking with Dalinar in the end. That he wont let Dalinar use him as a shardblade so that he might be slain. That Syl came close to death/destruction without being used as a shardblade is odd imho. Something must still be missing to make it fit together.
  24. Kaladin propably gets to heartstone before the everstorm hits it thou. So he might have issues making people belive him when he sais a highstorm bloving the other way is coming. Everstorm will need to go all around the planet before hitting alethkar.
  25. I mainly think that a stick will forget what it is and change;)
