  1. Mateform is caused by a spren bonding with the Parshendi, just like every form except the base. So a spren specializing in reproduction then, it doesent seem unresonable that this is magical enough to handle the biological differences. So there IS magic involved;)
  2. Removing the apex predator mostly means you get a shitload of their food. Kill all wolves and you get to many elks and so on. I somehow doubt that brandon mean that the major consequences are simply that in a decade or so they are going to have way to many chulls;) As for the gemstones, I do not think that will be catastrophic. If anything currency would be destroyed by continuing to have such a large influx of gems. They went by nicely before they found the shattered plains and the chasmfiends 10 years ago, they can again, and they got a huge stockpile of gems. With radiants around small gems actually works almost as well, as the radiant can take in the stormlight and infuse what needs to be infused, so its propably as good to pull form 10 lesser as one huge gem. Im feeling certain something fishy is going on with them sprens. Not sure I got the right consequence, but something...
  3. EMTrevor Argument could be made that the sprens are (likely) gone at that point, with the creature dead. The reshi island spren, and the ocean greatshells, the are both friendly creatures. That said, its not a slam dunk. Its an interesting possibility. And I do think something strange is going on with those sprens. Something have made the chasmfiends more hateful - otherwise it would not waste energy chasing 2 small meals(it propably wasted as much energy as Kaladin and shallan would give it chasing them) with dead bodies around.
  4. I am unsure why you thought I meant those thou. The arrow sprens for me, as noted, I dont have my books here, but werent thunderclasts described as arrowshaped in some way(faces?) Thats where Im heading to, not to Elhokars sprens. Basically Do you agree that the sprens around the chasmfiend seem odiumish? If not, your not going to agree on this subject;). If you do however, it is not that great a stretch to think a whole bunch of freed/unoccupied odiumsprens around suddenly will be a problem somehow. Add that Brandon have mentioned that the culling of the chasmfiend population will have large repercussions, and there is a possible connection. Normally the spren from such a dead chasmfiend might go into newborn chasmfiends, helping them grow. But ofcourse, almost no chasmfiends are allowed to pupate, its likely there arent any new nice and cozy chasmfiends to hang around. Perhaps a nice parshendi to bond with instead, then?
  5. Observer: It is thin yeah, but there are some things indicating those sprens are very bad news. Dont have the book here now, but read the scene where they look at the chasmfiend. Brandon makes it very clear that something is really wrong about the chasmfiends, something making them evil, intelligen almost. And while it doesent say right out that its the sprens... its very strongly hinted at it. I feel very confident in saying that those are odiumsprens, less confident about the rest, but still. There is something about it.
  6. Now, just reread some parts of Wor Firstly, the description of the chasmfiend by Kaladin and Shallan: There are also mentions about how the chasmfiend is wrong. Is that why there are some simularities betweem chasmfiends and thunderclasts, I know there was(now proven wrong) theories of chasmfiends being thunderclasts earlier. The same sprens bring them to life(or grow them bigger, in the case of chasmfiends)? Brandon have mentioned that the current slaughter of chasmfiends will have great repercussions on a larger scale. Have it freed a large amount of odium-sprens? Now, I would compare the desciptions of the arrow-sprens... but I dont have the time right now, so Im leaving that for those of you who are more fanatic then me;)
  7. In Jasnahs case I dont really have a problem. Why? Because yes, she set herself up to kill, but it was still self defence. The persons she killed was the attackers. Yes, she could have simply defeated them, but it is still they who attack. That is a big diff. I mean, if I know there have been a bunch of unprovoked murders in a park and I go there armed, and shoot the people trying to murder after they have attacked... well, its not murder in my mind.
  8. Well, Did Sadeas have any children? Clear heirs? Remember his wife being mentioned but cant think of any heirs right now. A powerstruggle might make it way less of a priority who killed sadeas, and a way bigger one to grab power. Not to mention that there is a worldchanging desolation coming, everyones most trusted babysitters are turning murderous, and they are in a mythical city led by the heretical turned maybe savior radiants. Alot of things are happening. Its not exately a good time for an ordered investigation.
  9. 1. Why is everyone so sure it will be public knowledge that Adolin killed Sadeas? 2. Sadeas is not held accountable for betraying Dalinar because Dalinar chooses not to do anything about it, as it would rip alethkar apart. 3. I think Amaram might be a tad shocked that Dalinar, and even worse, Kaladin, is a radiant now. He might had been able to get away with it if it was just a darkeye. But now its the radiant who saved the king, and defeated the assasin in white. Big diff. He´s stormed. Kaladin would get his duel now if he asked. Good luck to Amaram. 4. Maxal - your countries inheritance laws are weird. In mine, I could actually not even deny my inheritance if I did not want it. I could give it away after the fact yeah, but I´d haveto take it. Also, the parent cannot deny giving 50% of his property to his child when he dies(or divided among them if there are several).
  10. Aleksiel 1. About radiants being saviors or part of a bigger problem, Honor did think it was a must to have them back. While he is dead, I´d still trust his opinion above Nalan everyday. 2. All your comments on Dalinar there aplies to mr T aswell. Most of his info almost certainly comes from the same visions, when Gavilar had them. He did not belive that the parshmen would end up being voidbringers either, despite having heard it from Jasnah. The same with that he would be forced to unite all. Frankly, a conquest by a foreign army would be less devastating to a nation, consume less of its force, then a complete civil war where many sides fight eachothers to a standstill, eradicating both armies and whole noble lines(together with mrT´s assassinations). Besides, once the parhmenn makes an entry, Dalinar should be considered less of a madman as he is proven right. Alethkars nobility is likely loyal now, and while there are riots in Kolinar, its targeting the queen. It should not be that lasting once changes are made.
  11. Aleksiel: Would like to point out that we havent seen any real plan for saving humanity from the diagram either, what we have seen so far is only on gaining power for king T, removing threats to his power. Add to that and we have seen several indications that mr T´s machinations have been directly detrimental. Such as hindering the fight against the emerging voidbringers, and very nearly leading to the death of several radiants and while in the process almost stopping the finding of a very secure headquarter in the old radiant city, something invaluable in a war.
  12. Ehm? But you can make wine from other things then grapes? My parents used to make wine from apples and plums for example.
  13. Moogle, about power-hunger "He doesent want to do what he is doing" That is false. Average Mr T does not want to do what he is doing. You have no information saying that diagram Mr T does not want to do what he is doing. To make a comparison, I believe Diagram-T would gladly have a small, bred and mostly neutered portion of humanity simular to how the Lord Ruler kept terrismen around, and count that as having saved humanity. It would be quite simple to control that to his liking.
  14. One point to the OP You say shardblade cuts anything except the living. Well, yes. But living does not repell it the way shardplate do. The shardblade still goes through. If someone "cuts" a live person with a shardblade, the shardplate will still go through him and cut through the clothes(or wall or whatever) behind him. Thus, if it was the living part of the shardplate, the blade would just move through without cutting it, and still kill the person inside it.
  15. Moogle: "But diagram-Taravingian is helpful" (quoting bugs for me on this page, or I´d have made it better with larger parts of your post(and other posts) You do not know that, you assume it. So far, hes tried to kill off the furthest along-radiants. He spread groups among the nation that he allows to kill as they please for their own goals(Moash´s contact comment on this as they leave the shattered plains is riding away) You assume that while mr T gets less caring the further smarter he gets, suddenly when he becomes on his smartest, he cares more again. That is not logical. Diagram-T will be caring less. Mr T asked for the capacity to save humanity. It would be rather ironic if he along with getting that capacity, lost the will to save humanity other then as his own playthings. And even if that was not so, its also quite telling, that diagram-T did not know that the parshmen would turn into voidbringers(source:comment from Moash´s contact saying "that woman was right" about Jasnah, or some such). Thats a BIG fact. And shows that no matter how smart he was, he does not have all the info. And plans based on inperfect knowledge are never perfect. I think Mr-T is the main antagonist of the first 5 books. Odium wont become the main antagonist until bot 6-10.
  16. Moogle: The person who asked that and the person who wrote the diagram are very different. The person who wrote the diagram does not care if people die. Even the person he is when he is half-way(ish) to the diagram writer dont care about killing half the population in a city(and likely in the world if he ruled it). Even hitler thought he was creating a better world through his craziness, through removing those he thought destroyed it. He too thought it was ok to kill millions to achieve it. Good comparison tbh. Thou Hitler was not as bright, luckily . hitlers view of slaying jews, and quite clever Mr. T´s view of removing the dumber half of the population is quite near eachother. Both are measures to, in their mind, make the people better. Creating übermench so to speak. Mr T is the really scary dude. Sadeas for one don´t hold a candle to him.
  17. Bah! Since mr T lacks all empathy in super smart form, he likely just goes for surviving through himself. So he goes towards a chance for a small % of humanity to survive as slaves for Odium, through he himself having leadership and surrendering/follow Odiums guidance. Its proven that smart Mr T dont much care about people as individuals. I dont think hed see the majority of humans dying/being slaves as a problem as long as a few "smart" humans like himself can survive.
  18. Taravingian is doing destination before journey not journey before destination, and unlike the poster above, I really doubt there are _that_ much leeway in it, so I´d be really surprised if Taravangian ended up as a radiant.
  19. Maybe it is this simple. He have seen a correlation: More new surgebinders = desolation coming. And thus believe it is Because more surgebinders are coming that the desolation is coming. When in truth it seems to be the other way around. New surgebinders are coming because the sprens know that a desolation is coming. Thus, instead of hindering a desolation as Nalan thinks, he is weakening humans for when the desolation comes.
  20. I dont know how I did it. Was all the hat it was. Everyone should have a thinking hat. The hat was an attempt to seem less threatening. Went to crap that plan. Figured when I tried to be very pushy(aka, beetle in game one) everyone turned on me instead. Figured I should try to just put it out there, and stay out of the spotlight. And I wasent 100% either. Just close;). And dyring moves in mysterious ways. Dont wanna let my secrets out, theyv worked well so far;) *edit just noticed the language filter. It no like the excrement word ?
  21. I gotto admit that Im abit annoyed at aili for considering me not to be an ok loss since I wouldent contribute anything when I(rather, my thinking hat;)) had correctly picked out a PK (Wilson) (admittedly, it was just a strong suspicion at that point;). Protected both Jeo and wilson there, you did!
  22. Lots of different trolls about. Still, bias aside, trolls are quite abit larger then koloss, being describes as averaging 18 feet tall while koloss wont grow above 13 feet or so. So I´d say the koloss would be up rust creek, and they wont be clever enough to use a paddle.
  23. Heh, as a sidenote dyring the sneaky bloodmaker wants to fill his enourmous gold metalmind, but dont fancy being sickly for 236 years. Dyring is, ofcourse, an accompliced worldhopper, and goes to find a radiant able to cast regrowth. He then "accidentically" stabs himself infront of said radiant in a location with lots of stormlight. Said radiant begins to heal, as Dyring stores away. All lights dim, Radiant goes This post has been reported for attempting to skirt the rules healing don´t work?(or in the case of lift, goes REALLY skinny) . Dyring finaly lets the heal hits as his metalmind is full and walks away with enough healing for a 24:hour cagefight with a bear.
  24. Not really a match. As long as the lord ruler takes it seriously, he wins easily. szeths only chance is to get in a quick one hit kill at the neck/high spine before TLR gets serious. Szeth vs either Kelsier or Vin with atium, that would be a funnier fight:)
  25. Also, the propably got a power cell installed. Thinking only the unit leader have power gifted, but all. So for example Roy under steelheart would not have had power gifted, his suit would run of battery, recharged by hit unit leader when it runs low. so she could use it a short while.
