  1. Just something to consider regarding Hoid being offered a Shard:
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong (looking it up on Arcanum on my phone is a pain) but the novel is about Jasnah and Ivory's journey through Shadesmar during the events of Words of Radiance.
  3. Thank you! I know I've read that before, but it has been a while. And the nature of the bond makes this make perfect sense. This may simply be semantics, but the scene makes me think of Shallan's flashback with Wit in WoR. The vision of what life with her whole family could and should be. I don't think it is that Moash thinks he deserves to feel pain, I think it made him realize what his pain actually is; The knowledge that this Truth that SHOULD have been:
  4. You verbalized something important here, Moash WANTS to remain Blinded (at least on some level). This may be true (I'm not sure if it has ever been confirmed one way or the other regarding Healing with Honorblades), though it may simply be that with the inefficiency of Surgebinding with an Honorblade that it would simply take A LOT of Stormlight to heal such a wound with an Honorblade. I suspect that as long as the Spiritual Damage didn't somehow change your own view of your Identity, then it could at least hypothetically be healed. Think of Kaladin; He considered his scars as part of him, so they were. Once he no longer did, they healed.
  5. Sorry mate it was a nice theory, but Brandon has confirmed that Virtuosity is a shard: With that said, I don't think we actually know all 16 Shards for sure; We know Ruin & Preservation (Harmony), Dominion, Devotion, Honor, Cultivation, Odium, Autonomy, Endowment, Mercy, Valor, Ambition, Invention, Whimsy, and Virtuosity. That is only 15 (or 14 with a Double shard). There is some decent circumstantial evidence that the last Shard is Wisdom/Prudence/something to this effect but I don't think we have specific confirmation at this time.
  6. This is a tough one, probably one of the Kandra after Harmony allows them to go out and explore the Cosmere. Today it is a charcoal gray.
  7. I suspect that this is Enlighted version of Renarin's Lightweaving, people seem to think that the stained glass fortune ability is his Lightweaving, but I suspect that is actually an effect created by the combination of Honor, Cultivation, and Odium's powers. The light itself seems to have created a similar effect to what someone sees when they burn Allomantic Gold. I agree that it is related to the the scene at the end. I suspect that it isn't specifically that that Odium's connection to Moash is severed or weakened but rather that Odium is lying when he says he can take someone's pain. Instead I think he essentially masks and smothers people's pain with his Investiture. We know that Renarin makes it so people close to him are essentially Blindspots in Odium's vision. This is very similar to Ruin and Preservation's inability to see metals. In the first case I believe Ranarin made Odium unable to see Moash so he could not mask his pain. The later case The Anti-Voidlight tone forced Odium's "protection" away in a similar way although I suspect that was more like pushing Odium away rather than making him unable to see and "protect" Moash. Bonus points: Moash does have internalized pain and regret, we know this first because his Bridge Four tattoo was not healed by his Stormlight. The damage to his eyes then happens while the Anti-Voidlight tone is blocking Odium's investiture allowing him to be so harmed in the first place. Like Kaladin's scars (for a long time anyways) Moash's eyes do not heal because he views the damage as part of himself presumably because of his betrayal and then the killing of Teft.
  8. Yes, this is true and I did think of that (as all of Stormlight is fresh in my mind), but I do wonder if her essentially novice understanding of Fabrials at that time is covering up a small mystery. I may well be overthinking this, but people being limited by the extent of their technology would be on brand.
  9. I just finished Part 2 of RoW on my Stormlight reread and added a couple more questions. I specifically wanted to draw attention to Lin Davar's Soulcaster. There is a conversation between Reboniel and Navani regarding Soulcasters being Spren manifested in the Physical Realm. With what we know it seems extremely unlikely a sword strike could damage one. What is actually going on there? Note that Shallan is definitely NOT a reliable narrator so what she says can't really be taken as fact.
  10. Yeah, people really need to think of Fortune in the sense of Fate not Luck. More like a Fortune teller than Mat Cauthon...
  11. I added a RoW question related to Rlain's surge/voidbinding.
  12. Something to consider; Renarin seems to have normal Radiant Regrowth and Enlightened (Corrupted) Lightweaving. What is to say that Rlain will be the same? Could he not have normal Radiant Lightweaving and Enlightened (Corrupted) Regrowth? Tumi refers to him as "Bridger Of Minds" and there is a part of the Diagram that almost certainly was warning about allowing Rlain to form a bond. I suspect the ability to "Bridge Minds" is the form Enlightened Regrowth will take.
  13. Functionally that is what Harmony is (obviously 2 full shards is a large scale of this, but still), so yes.
  14. Shoresy Season 2 Edit: Also several things others have mentioned: Dune Part 2, Oppenheimer, Spiderverse 2, Assorted books, Ahsoka, etc., etc.
  15. Once they addressed Hoid's curse and his inability to directly speak of it, I guessed that Huck was Charlie and in the same predicament.
  16. I'd been on a Wheel of Time hiatus from the Cosmere for a the last several months but I'm reading through the Cosmere to start the year so I'm going to start maintaining this again.
  17. I actually just finished a full reread of the series so I have fresh answers here: 1.) Knife Of Dreams 2.) Lord Of Chaos 3.) The Gathering Storm 4.) Towers of Midnight 5.) The Shadow Rising 6.) A Memory Of Light 7.) Winter's Heart 7.5) New Spring 8.) The Great Hunt 9.) The Fires of Heaven 10.) The Eye Of The World 11.) The Path of Daggers 12.) A Crown of Swords 13.) The Dragon Reborn 14.) Crossroads Of Twilight
  18. Look at it from her perspective; She truly believes that Channeling is a terrible thing and that those who channel are actively a danger to those around them. She believes the A'dam is the only way to protect people and in her world view does not view a Sul'dam Channeling through a Damane via A'dam as Channeling . At one point in the series (I believe in "A Memory Of Light") someone directly address that she can learn to channel (Egwene maybe?) and she responds with something along the lines of although she may be capable of learning to channel, she wouldn't in the same way that while she is capable of committing murder she wouldn't do that either. It can be viewed in the same light as people who are adamantly against abortion in all cases, because they believe it is murder and therefore cannot be allowed. I don't agree with the sentiment, but if that truly is what you believe, then it isn't difficult to follow the logic chain. I think the Seanchan get a bit of the same treatment that people nowadays view people from the past; While it doesn't excuse their actions people are subject to the world they live in. Tuon grew up, was educated in, and was constantly exposed to an echo chamber of ideas that told her that what she was doing was right. Frankly speaking, subjecting people to your own morality is flawed logic. The reality is, that the entire Seanchan view of Channeling is the summation of centuries of policy and conditioning that stemmed from Ishamael's manipulation of Artur Hawkwing. While I obviously agree that the enslavement of anyone is Evil, I don't think despising Tuon and her nation for being thoroughly manipulated for centuries is a fair reaction to her character. While her world view is a very warped one, we see throughout the series she isn't completely hardwired into what she believes and can have her opinions changed when presented with new information. This is mostly seen through her interactions, with Mat, Setalle, and later Min. Regarding what Mat sees in her; she is capable, intelligent, decisive, organized, and interesting. In addition, the implication is she is physically attractive. That is probably what he sees in her.
  19. Something to consider; In Oathbringer there is a reference to Relis Ruthar being one of the only people leading any meaningful resistance against the Singers in Alethkar. I think that combined with him hearing the screams when Kaladin touches his blade is a decent indication he may have indeed attracted a Spren and sworn oaths. With that said, I would guess he was in the pre-Oath(s) proto-Radiant phase during the duel with Adolin.
  20. This is from "The Dragon Reborn" it is Thom talking to Mat. This one is from Dune. This is Shallan musing on Kaladin in "Words of Radiance". Edit: I forgot to add something for people to identify: "If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.”
  21. This is Bilbo talking to Gandalf, no idea on the other quote. I'll contribute: "Everyone is down on pain, because they forget something important about it: Pain is for the living. Only the dead don't feel it."
