  1. I get what you are saying. A lot of people loved OB but I wasn’t a huge fan on my first read (I’ve grown more fond of it ove4 time) I think there is quite a shift from the first two books where you have a team of likeable characters to cheer for (Bridge 4!) and no matter how uninterested you are in a chapter or two, you always have a Bridge 4 / Kaladin chapter to look forward to (or a Shallan chapter if you are a freak like me). OB is setting the stage for coming books so you go from two action packed books to a much more ponderous pace. I was curious to see how you liked the next Act as it was my least favourite but the next setting and final Act I found very satisfying. if you’re bored someday try speed-reading through the middle bits haha.
  2. My theory is that Shallan has a gemheart and Chana is living inside it at the moment. Furthermore, Radiant is Chana peeking out. This would explain Shallan’s enhanced abilities.
  3. I don’t think Kaladin will be Honor. His whole journey seems to be struggling towards a point where he can finally lay down his burdens and just live a normal life. Picking up a Shard will only Add to his burdens. I don’t think it will be Dalinar either. That’s just too obvious and BS’s writing tends more towards a surprise twist that makes sense in retrospect. I also don’t think that they need new Heralds. The only purpose of the Heralds was the Oathpact and to me the narrative seems to be moving toward unifying the populations of humans and singers, not further dividing them or re-starting the Oathpact cycle of violence. One note of interest from the above BS questions is that he states that dropped power can become Unmade. I’ve been thinking more and more that the Unmade on Roshar are splinters of Ambition.
  4. Bullets have built in gunpowder so a Spren couldn’t be a modern-type bullet They could be an old school musket ball or canon ball but that would still require loading a metal tube with gunpowder
  5. 28. Dig large pits or trenches with a shardblade on a battlefield then make them look like normal terrain. This could make thunderclasts get stuck or fall on their faces. 29. Create strobe lights to blind / disorient large numbers of opponents (Also, I think it’s rather hard to add substance to lightweaving and that it requires a ton of stormlight. I think the only reason Shallan could do it was that there was practically an unlimited amount of stormlight available to her)
  6. I’m going to try to go 3 for 3 with my predictions My other two are: Truthwatcher: Water or River Spren. Makes sense to me with Mistspren and also associating water with life. Willshaper: Anticipation Spren. Music Spren is a good choice thematically but for some reason I always picture Willshapers looking to the horizon, or a new journey, with anticipation.
  7. I picture Nightblood’s cognitive form as looking like a black Mistspren but with thousands.of different faces that continuously change corresponding to the thousands of breaths used in its creation. Or maybe BS is being cheeky and NB looks like a very insane version of Vasher.
  8. Skybreaker armor Spren confirmed as… Gravitationspren Dragonsteel Q&A
  9. Anyone who thinks “come at me trolls!” Was anything but a joke needs to take a step back and ponder that they might take themselves just a tad too seriously. Sorry if I offended anyone. I won’t be returning to these forums. I’ve tried to post theories or participate in discussions but some of the longtime users of this site are bullies and intimidating. It’s a wonder any new users stick around with all the pompous toxicity. I’ll continue loving BS’s work Without the “scholarly” community.
  10. Disagree, but I appreciate your opinion
  11. Jeez people You have one WoB saying shardblades can kill Spren followed by another saying they can’t. You have one book showing a shardblade killing a Spren then the next book stating they can’t. How much more clear does it have to be? As I’ve said, BS is a brilliant writer but not infallible. There is no way he can plan ahead for every little detail. He’s even said in WoBs that he hasn’t decided on certain topics yet. Every detail can’t be mapped out in advance. This isn’t a sin, it’s a fact of life. And I’m well aware that his writing style involves lots of “gotcha” moments where the characters’ preconceptions / viewpoints are shown to be very wrong. You are no less of a fan of BS’s writing if you recognize that RetCons happen from time to time. But a lot of you seem to treat his writing as gospel. Anyway, it’s a pointless topic as it is now canon that a shardblade can’t kill a Spren (and I’m fine with that) P.S. There’s a ton of RetCon in Shallan’s arc (come at me trolls!)
  12. That’s pretty much the definition of a RetCon
  13. I’m not sure you can make a Deadeye without a Nahel bond as they didn’t exist prior to BAM’s imprisonment with the main theory being that this altered the bonds somehow. Syl seems fairly convinced they killed that poor little Spren. BS is a genius writer but isn’t perfect…this is a RetCon
  14. Syl obviously killed that Spren in OB BS is just backpedaling / reverse engineering because they made such a big deal about making a weapon that can kill Spren in RoW that it would seem stupid if any old shardblade could do it.
