Hahaha, I can see this parodying Richard the Warlock from LFG webcomic (all i can sing whenever i hear this song)
-
I was thinking of posting this in the other topic but i felt it was marginally different enough that it might warrant its own topic *mods, if this isn't the case, you know the drill* Now seeing as we have barely any concrete information on the 17th Shard and their purpose, this is just theoretical speculation/speculative theory and could just be reiterating what we already know, but i thought it an interesting view So from what little information we do have, the 17th Shard seem to take a very non-interference approach to matters relating to the Shards and perhaps to the Cosmere as an extension. We know they don't take too well to people meddling in Shardic matters as demonstrated by Hoid and in the Letter to his old reptile-like friend. Carrying on from that, I think it very possible they will intervene to prevent people (and possibly factions) with the skills and resources from causing wide-scale ramifications (aka Hoid) from interfering also. Spoilered for some references in soon-to-be published works TC;DR: Basically to summarise, I think that the 17th Shard are meant to represent the/an Intent that Adonalsium didn't have (doesn't particular narrow it down, I know but I think it could be something relating to Observation/Restraint etc. etc.) Their purpose is to monitor and record Investiture-related shenanigans along with the history of the Cosmere, with very little direct intervention on their part.

Interesting WoB. Actually gives me some ideas.
-
Just say it was a close call but you just lost out on it or something in the case of someone asking about it in the near future. No harm done..unless you're referring to another way but I don't see how it would
-
One of the main reasons why i thought it relevant is because I believe there was a WoB that was RAFO'd asking if all the remaining Shards are held by the original holders, but i can't remember if i'm thinking of a different scenario or not. I have found another relating to this topic but it also equally vague and just reiterates that he is functionally immortal (he doesn't age) but he can be killed (which applies to Shards as demonstrated by Aona, Skai, Leras and Ati + another we don't know the name of)
-
Interesting WoB i found that can be interpreted either way http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='shardholders' So two conclusions I draw are; Frost either became immortal through a magic system; or this was one of the very rare circumstances where a Shard changed hands. There is a WoB that was RAFO'd, asking if all the original Shardholders were Human.

*Chimera the Paradoxspren snaps out of its whimsical reverie, turning into a miniature dustcloud to mimic the floating dust kicked up from Mistrunner's fall* "This isn't right, I thought Hoid was s'posed to be bringing chouta? And why does WayneSpren have a cool hat and I don't?! Why am i asking rhetorical questions? Too many questions and answers, my...head hurts...wait...i have a head? o.O *Chimera floats down to Mistrunner, resting above a book that fell in the chaos* "What kind of food is this?" o.O

Quiver, being a fellow Brit, where do you watch MLP:FIM? My curiousity is overpowering me in a moment of weakness and I think I'm going to take the plunge

Funniest Scenes in Stormlight Archive (so far)
ParadoxicalZen replied to Tetriona's topic in Stormlight Archive
Who knew Shallan was willing lower herself to Yo parent jokes. I hope for more exchanges between those two, especially if Jasnah joined partway through and just put both of them in their place. Would really like it if she ended up in a witty slanging match, especially with Wit. -
I thought we still don't have clarification/confirmation on that IIRC, (unless you've seen a WoB i haven't) as we don't know the timescale of Warbreaker history matching up to SA history, nor do we know the results of the Heralds splintering/cracking the Oathpact. In the number of millenia (actual number escapes me, was it 4500?) between the Breaking and the start of SA, it could be possible for one/all of them to be able to Worldhop due to the Oathpact's fractured state as it was most likely the Oathpact keeping them (and Odium) bound to the Greater Roshar system (granted this is speculation, but highly possible)

I think Sophiina might be referring to the other WoB'S located in that link. Accidentally quoted her other post but that WoB was meant to clear up the whole 'Heralds follow the ideal' thing
-
IIRC, the exact reasoning why Pres/Ruin created life was because neither Shard could create on their own, so they had to work together to do so, only the life wasn't aware or some such, ergo Preservation sacrificed more of his power to give them sentience/sapience. Yata can you provide that WoB on Natural Magic vs Shardic magic, as I was under the impression they were one and the same. Seeing as the magic systems were already a natural development and it was only through Shardic interference do we see the systems in their current forms.

For me, it wasn't so much as scary as it was just chilling, like ice cold water down the spine. River <3

Agreed

Best places/chains for food in Oz? Best places to see? I'm travelling there early next year so I need more things for my list
-
Also, scariest episode? (apart from you Weeping angel lovers) For me it would The Empty Child
-
If you did, you'd be missing out on really great episodes...and besides...life's no fun without a good scare

A Mythical Sword named Gretgor

Hmm, I don't remember/know anything of this. Could possibly be a Fjordell parallel to MaiPon's Moon sceptre? -
He's not wearing a suit of armour and drawing transmutation circles by any chance?

Interesting WoB I found http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='radiants' Number 3 As i said over in the Recreance topic, note that Brandon said the Heralds embody an ideal, not ideals. My idea is that the primary and secondary attributes for each Herald make up this Ideal, and if we could get Brandon to say what ideal each Herald represents, we could work out what the opposites are then look for characters displaying it. (Yeah i could be seeing darkfriends in shadows but it does make sense...sorta)
-
http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='radiants' WoB number 3 The Heralds each embodied an Ideal *note, singular and not plural*, and as natc said, were most likely the paragon of said Ideal so I think that this Ideal can be split into their primary and secondary attributes. Seeing as those ideals were adopted by the Orders (and the fact that Ishar forced/made the surgebinders follow a system (a la KR oaths/ideals) due to them possibly causing untold damage as a result of unchecked power.
-
Are there more Orders than those in ages past?
ParadoxicalZen replied to Landis963's topic in Stormlight Archive
http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='radiants' Number 14 (won't let me direct link ¬_¬) Apparently there is an actual reason for why the KR are organised the way they are -
Unless Helaran becomes the first Skybreaker Radiant? It could be a red herring after all. We're only given information stating that he was from Jah Keved and had red hair (which can be typical of those of Veden descent) + we see he has the Shardblade that Helaran is shown threatening Lin Davar with. *note we never see Helaran acquire Shardplate but this could have been any time between leaving Jah Keved and Kaladin killing the shardbearer*. The only we reason we think they are one and the same is because of the way the above facts and point of views in book are presented, which, to be fair, is a logical conclusion to make. Shallan didn't exactly show a drawing of Helaran during their heart-to-heart in the chasm, nor can i remember if Kaladin actually remarks on seeing his appearance. Perhaps someone should ask Brandon at a signing if the shardbearer Kaladin actually killed was Helaran?
