  1. I wasn't even sure if it would get RAFO'd or not. It was more for clarification as there is lots of...vaguey vagueness (Their native/ethnicity, their hazy mentions/appearances, Honourblade appearance/physical form, power sets and capabilities etc.etc.etc.) What kills me the most is that there is so long between the back five books and well...now Their ethnicity/native-ness, as well as general physical appearance, has always been RAFO'd and something in a previous topic got me thinking about one of Dalinar's visions (trying to find exact passage but Tanavast says something along the lines of having 'made' the Heralds, which had me thinking that it meant he had either created them from scratch [making them strong Splinters], or pardon relevant jewel/gem analogy, took a rough model and cut into the right shape [something more than a Splinter but far less than a Sliver, perhaps Returned level]) *Aluminum-foil hat* I know all things eye-colour related is essentially speculation with the little info we do have, but has been it confirmed/stated that the Heralds eyes - pre-broken Oathpact - were still brighteyed without holding their blades? As if the former case of Honour literally crafting the Heralds could even be remotely true, I was thinking perhaps the associated gem is in part what they are made of. *Aluminum-foil hat*
  2. I believe this is possible, depending on how you perceive it. After all, Intent is a major factor in anything Cosmere or Shardlike, as well as the underlying component in the magic systems. So, if you could interpret and use/satisfy both Intents as something to the extent 'Preserve my existence and in turn, Ruin my enemy's' or something like that, it should balance out. After all, whilst the Intents may initially be contradictory, it isn't hard to find an equilibrium between them by using both in moderation/tandem.
  3. I would go Avatar, that way you could be multicapable and learn all the different sub-types; lava, metal, mud, mist/cloud, lightning, explosion, flying, vines/plants, sand, blood.
  4. Indeed, I want me some of the basic Lands with the full art scapes *_* Seeing as I missed the first Zendikar block, It kinda feels...magical to experience it now. The Eldrazi are crazy, and i see potential opportunity for the Spawn tokens but the creature card that exiles the top 20 cards I might have for my mill deck (along with Tormod's Crypt). Curious to see more of the Landfall cards and even more so the whole card list. (which makes me get ahead of myself and think of the second block of BFZ, especially if I'm blown away by this one). The artwork is pretty incredible. Even the Oblivion Sower foil is pretty wowza. I seriously can't wait for this set. Gideon is quite interesting so i can see Ally decks being made, I wonder what other Planeswalkers we might see (apart from Nissa, which I hope she either gets a Green/White print or she doesn't get another print cause that'll be 3 sets in a short space) EDIT: from the MTG FB page I wonder who the 3rd walker is; Kiora perhaps?
  5. It could be possible, but we don't have physical descriptions for all the Heralds so I can't sure of exactly where each Herald possibly originates in Roshar or if their native ethnicities in ancient Roshar would even relate to that of Roshar of the current day
  6. When walking out of London's Forbidden Planet shop having spent into triple figures seems like a good thing (Comics and all geek/nerd merch = combusted wallet)
  7. Seeing as we're necroing; i found a WoB that might indicate Paliah's location, along with an insightful bit of info which as i read back, has already been stated. (derp) http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt=%27heralds%27 number 16 The exact passage is in Chapter 33, page 553 in the Gollancz edition. 'A light flickering through the bookcases startled he, and she tucked away her folio. It turned out to be just an old, berobed female ardent, shuffling with a lantern and followed by a parshman servant. She didn't look in Shallan's direction as she turned between two rows of shelves, her lantern's light shining out through the spaces between the books. Lit that way - with her figure hidden but the light streaming between the shelves - it looked as if one of the Heralds themselves were walking through the stacks.' Depending on how you extrapolate from/interpret that; seeing as Pali is the Herald of the Truthwatchers whose Surges are Progression and Illumination, and given the way the lantern's light is being described and how she is walking, you could say she is illuminating her path as she progresses through the shelves. (ok, I know this is hilariously clutching at chullstraws, but it still could happen)
  8. Magicmadhouse or whoever packages their duel decks dun goofed. In the Eldrazi deck, instead of giving me Hellion Eruption I was given an extra Butcher of Malakir instead. Not too bad a trade off methinks :B
  9. That, and the his Oathstone wasn't the black/dark sphere. Two completely different things...unless...the Shin have access to Dawnshards o.O
  10. Whoa, much flame back then. I agree this is an important topic for discussion because each author has their own representation, male or female. Arguably, I haven't read many books by female authors in the plain old fantasy/sci-fi genre - only a few - but those i have read were pretty storming amazing. I wasn't a big fan of Anne McCaffrey but I did enjoy reading the first Dragonriders book (it was more her writing style than characterisation that turned me away). Gail Z Martin is another favourite. Her female co-lead didn't really fit any stereotype niche apart from a very few standard basics, the rest was superb. Robin Hobb's Rain Wilds was also amazing and Trudi Canavan and Kate Elliot are also pretty good along with Helen Lowe. The only books I've read prominently written by females is in the Dark Fantasy genre. Mediocre at best but to be expected after the success of Twilight. There was one series i've yet to finish by Kristen Painter called House of Comarre which is actually not too bad; it has a strong female lead that isn't too stereotypical, along with a nice female villain too...but most other ones are pretty pants so the less said on that the better. Ian Irvine's portrayal of some of his characters in his Three Worlds series, especially his females in particular, are quite interesting and somewhat a bit erratic but also quite strong at points. Mark Charan Newton's Nights of Villjamur has a few good leads also. Say what you want about Paolini's Inheritance saga, i reckon he wrote Arya pretty damnation well. It has been a long time since i've read most of these books, so my memory's a bit hazy on exact portrayals xD
  11. You could argue (abstractly, with a bit of twisting) that each Order inteprets their given Surges as pulling/pushing e.g. Windrunners - Adhesion is pushing, Gravitation is pulling. None too sure about Internal/External though, although you could split the diagram into running vertical and horizontal, which would make the two centre Orders both depending on perception (which could reflect in each different Radiant)
  12. I have an addition to make. I think it could it be possible that the other spren were either Soulcast/Bondsmithed/fabrialised or some combination of the 3 (+ more if there are) into Shardplate. Going from what little we know of Oathgates in WoR, Shardblades/Sprenblades couldn't cut through the Oathgate slot and someone theorised that they could be made of the same material as Spren/Shardblades, so that got me thinking; what if they were the same thing but in a different form? We know Soulcasting is used to transmute/transform matter from one form to another (typically something of the same matter state and/or chemical group) We can only speculate about Bondsmith powers (primarily, my thinking is the formation/cohesion of spiritual/cognitve connections made manifest in the physical i.e. changing the forms of Windspren gathered around Kaladin into S-plate through solidification/modification of their spiritual/cognitive bonds with the help of a Elsecaller/Lightweaver + however Surge fabrials are made)
  13. Having a weird case of not being able to sleep and i have to be up in two hours for 4am
  14. EDIT: scratch my counterburn decklist. Just seen some BFZ spoilers. I think i might have to build an EDH elemental deck around Omnath, Locus of Rage. And Hedron Archive is now the sassiest card i've seen. Jace is on top form!
  15. I will edit this post when i'm back home on the computer. Right now, I'm with rest of the immediate family waiting to hear the news that my sister has made me a fully fledged uncle. *squeespren* EDIT: 7Ib6oz healthy baby boy as for the tattoo, awkward over/on the shoulder selfie. sozzle for the bad quality Was kinda hard to take a picture
  16. I'd like to go back to 9 years of age with the mindset i have now. Not because i'm not happy/unhappy, but more for curiousity's sake than anything. If I could be an observer and look at the multiple forms of myself over the Multiverse, i see it as an ultimate variant of self-reflection
  17. I just looked up worldfire....that card is kayana...O.O and only just realised what a good combination chandra's ignition and spellheart chimera could be (providing you're not countered/it hasn't died or been exiled)
  18. We have it via WoB that Saze/Harmony's body is in a some kind of inbetween state and isn't destroyed I guess it depends the person to be fair. Saze was a Keeper and had access to most of the pre-FE religions so it is possible he might have also had access to old languages. If not, then i believe even if they didn't know it instantanteously, they would understand the language very very very quickly. Each Shardworld has a planetary focus (Scradrial's being metal, Roshar's possibly being gems/jewels) and should a Shard be invested in that Shardworld, they would be blind to it (Ruin and Preservation were blind to metal) so if Odium were to suddenly appear and invest in Scadrial, then it is most likely possible that he would be blind to metal deposits. Some Shards are capable of reading minds. Ruin wasn't but he could influence people into doing what he wanted whereas Preservation could read minds but lacked the capabilities to influence. Ergo, Harmony can do both. And Ruin/Preservation didn't create the metallic arts/magic systems of Scradrial; they already existed to some extent but the Shard's presence altered/manifested them into what we see today (still not sure what Brandon meant by the systems already existing but I'll see if i can find the WoB)
  19. Never really seen any greens with decent LTB effects, at least not recently. And agreed. I wouldn't base a deck around PB, but i'm trying to find a good combo chain for it (been tempted to get M15's Garruk as a possibility but not sure yet) Any good cards for ETB and LTB?
  20. Haha, very little. I know the rough basics and little bits and bobs but i couldn't have a proper conversation with someone.
  21. The reason why I ask was someone had brought up the passage about Shallan commenting on chasmfiend spren, (where she issaying that they are/look exactly the same as the spren around skyeels) so it got me thinking
  22. I was thinking of a primary green, with slightly dipping into black, combining it with MO's Evolutionary leap. Green have a few cheap costing/highly decent low creatures (Kalonian Tusker/Deathly Recluse etc.) that can trigger PB and then can use the beasts as sacrifices. Mmm, hard to pick
  23. Has it been confirmed what the spren that surround skyeels and chasmfiends are? (my headcanon is they're gravitation/gravityspren)
  24. Trying to find the best use for my other Primeval Bounty, but can't find a deck of mine that would make best use of it apart from my Mana Ramp, Tokens or Monogreen/beast decks. My Beast already has one and while it is good with my tokens, it is a bit wasted. Mana ramp has had it before but it kind of feels fine as it is. Thoughts?
