Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
ParadoxicalZen replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Yikes, that is far. I'm also going to be moving house soon too (granted, about 30 minutes away from where I am now) but I lived here my whole life (23yrs now) so i'm a little scared. That being said, I'm going traveling later this year, so i'm not sure what is more alarming -
Yeah, it's just tweaking my blue/red deck. I'll have a gander, thanks!

Bit late to the party but...OMG THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN, I FIGURATIVELY AND LITERALLY CAN'T EVEN. Just milkshakes/ice cream and chips/fries in general = the best thing ever (yes i know but still) When I was having a pub lunch for my birthday last year, I started doing this unconsciously and these people were staring at me like 'By the Lord Ruler what is this guy doing, is he kayana or what?' (they even asked if i was enjoying it, like seriously why would I be doing it if I didn't enjoy it >.>) I used to do this when I was younger as well. It is so good I don't understand why more don't do it

I'll probably just switch out those All Creature spells to ones with 1/2/3 damage to 1/2/3 creatures and/or players, think i've a few somewhere

Missing a word there: 'More' red herrings*

If the whole 'Surgebinding assists with the hastening of Desolations' theory is in any part true, this could explain some possible reasons why they did what they did (again, in support of my self-sacrifice idea). In order to halt/slow the process of Desolations, but not leave Roshar defenseless, they handed over the Shards to the people. I like this idea, have some upvotes!

Didn't mean Archetype prevented counter, bad wording on my part Colours, that's thrown a wrench into my counterburn deck. Curse you wizards!
-
I thought creatures that are hexproof through their own card text would be immune to a board-wipe spell, or are you referring to a few specific spells in particular? And a good way to counter someone's counter for casting a creature spell is Savage summoning, then casting Archetype of Endurance <3 (that is, if you're playing green ofc) EDIT: another question, if you have the Dismiss into Dream enchantment in play and you then play Scouring Sands - or similar spell - (deal 1 one damage to each creature opponent controls. Scry 1) will you trigger DiD's effect or does it specifically have to state 'target creature' in the text?

My knee is aching due to an old gym injury (i think due to being on it all day at a festival saturday) and i can't go to the doctors yet as depending on my early morning relief for work, i might not get there until after it opens, which means it will be packed >.> -
It is the story of the Wandersail, which i believe was actually the name of the chapter as well And...that necro x)

When Reading a Book Goes Horribly Wrong
ParadoxicalZen replied to hopefulmorning's topic in Entertainment Discussion
My eyes for second, made me think i read 'Throwing up in the trash over it' then. I actually quited liked the Inheritance Saga but that may just be me. Terry Brooks i was beyond disappointed in: I had to force myself to finish the first book of the Sword of Shannara trilogy and then tried the second and I was just like 'nope, not happening' -
Hmm, well i've preordered the duel deck anyway so yeah, I'll see what is new/has changed. Might buy him come payday this month as a treat, especially to tick off one of my friends (he has two Nicols in his deck that he just loves to play, especially when I have no means to counter it)

Well, to be fair, most of the spren from that time are locked in Shardblade form (that and we're still lacking in-depth info as to what normal and Nahel spren are like in Shadesmar but when they manifest in the physical realm, their sentience is massively reduced without a person to bond) If my idea is true to some extent, it could be that those spren didn't pass on the information of whatever the 'wicked thing of eminence' was to their ruling government bodies so they could use the Recreance as a 'forewarning/lesson' (i can't think of the right word at the moment and it is really bugging me, but it is along those lines) to the very few that remain of the Spren species to prevent them from bonding in the future.
-
Bah, thought that was the case. Was hoping that it could get around Nicol's 3rd ability but apparently not. On the subject of Elder Dragons, would it wise to invest in Ugin (Tarkhir version) with the upcoming Zendikar block?

ParadoxSpren floats down from the bookcase to watch from afar, his form shifting to a questamation mark as he surverys the awkward gathering. What a strange group of beings they are/And what is this corridor-of-shady-metal they speak of?!

My point/idea was that both the Spren and Radiants agreed it had to be done, regardless of whether the Spren could have stopped it or not. We see how Kaladin was after his bond with Syl was mended, so the secret that broke the Orders must have been pretty dire for nigh 100% of 9 Orders to break their oaths and doom their closest friends to a half-death state. To me the Spren must have discovered something that causes the Nahel Bond to be far more damaging than it first appears and it was through the convincing of their respective Radiants that the Oaths were broken for the good of everyone (granted this is speculation but tis my headcanon)

Warframe? Any Tenno around?
ParadoxicalZen replied to ParadoxicalZen's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Hard to say, it has faults. I'm a bit a of a Lore-nut when it comes to games/franchises, so I love discovering the little nuances, nooks and crannies of the stories. One thing that is both a good and bad point is Warframe's backstory is undeveloped and hasn't really been fleshed out which can be quite annoying but, similarly to Dark Souls, you get the fun of discovering what Lore there is from little scraps and flavours. The Clans and Clan Halls are something to be commended and the customisation of both the hall as well as the actual frames/weapons/companions isn't too bad. Controller compatibility needs a little more work too but it is work in progress. DE are quite good with listening to the community and working to correct issues and balancing -
Apologies for the double post, but if a creature is hexproof, can it be targeted by planeswalker abilities or can it only be affected if the ability targets the player? (thinking Mr Bolas here)

A few questions worth asking: Is the amount of stormlight a proto-radiant/Radiant can hold the same for each individual Radiant? Does it change as a Radiant might age ie Lift is younger than Kaladin/Shallan/Jasnah/Renarin so perhaps she might not be able to inhale as much? Does a Radiant's usage/capacity to inhale increase as they speak the Oaths, or does it become more efficient to use the Surges? Does each Surge use the same amount of stormlight across the Orders and does it change for each level reached?

Solicitation for FAQs and their Answers - Sel
ParadoxicalZen replied to Kurkistan's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kwt='aons' Removed the other questions/answer for irrelevancy but - number 8 - this WoB from the AMA says the names for the other cities will be covered in the 10th anniversay ed. so we could possibly hope that the map errors will also be cleared up also. As for Aon East, I'm inclined to agree with Oudeis on that intepretation -
Sounds like he's seen the viral video/gif of Chris Pratt and Tom Hiddleston

Do your baked goods include Scadrialese chocolate fudge brownies (both the Fae kind and oven-baked goodness) with a steaming cup of hot chocolate to go? -

Huh, well that's what I get for not checking the main site (or even realising the site publishes tour info) derp. My main fears were when he did do his tour over here was they'd be late in the year (november/december time) and i'd miss them due to being abroad but seeing as Gollancz is october, my joy skyrocketed ^^
