  1. Quintus resolved to set out again at his earliest opportunity to find more of the mysteries of the house, though he felt a need to put to rest some of the suspicions resting on him. Dr Neuems had been eyeing him from the moment he walked in, and had gone so far as to question Quintus' mannerisms, as if those pointed to his complicity in...whatever had happened. 'The Hammer' had stepped in echoing some of the thoughts Quintus has shared privately with others, but the man had an ego to go with his nickname, so he wasn't sure how seriously the others would take him. Aralis had put his book down long enough to chime in with a veiled threat towards Quintus, but fortunately he didn't seem to taking it seriously, since he went right back to reading. Realizing the futility of arguing with the group, Quintus finally made his way out the door, back up the stairs, and started looking for anywhere he could go that would be free of hateful eyes and ears. Unfortunately, the house itself seemed full of too much hatred for him to really feel better. Was it stirring up the emotions of the others, making them quick to suspect him and others in Huxton's murder?
  2. Sorry my actions seem weird to everyone. I'm weird, you'll learn that if you haven't yet. Some observations via RP now (I hope to do this more, after seeing it suggested and encouraged recently). ----- Third of the Storm was worried. Well, more worried. Patji was dangerous enough, but now Yazava was dead, and not because of a blunder of his own. No, this had the signs of a murder written all over it. Third might not have been a detective, but he knew the dangers of the jungle well enough. He'd blamed Nannyberry (what odd names some of these offworlders had), and the team had gone so far as to execute him on that suspicion. It was the way of the jungle, and he knew the hunters of Patji routinely killed via traps or even directly. Still, when Nannyberry's possessions didn't show any sign of them having ill intentions, he began to worry. Having traitors amongst them was bad; killing off innocent members because they grew suspicious could be worse. He'd have to pay closer attention to the other members of the expedition. Charlie was remarkable communicative for a mute, while Sherlock seemed both nervous and excited by the murders, looking about both suspiciously and inquisitively. Dr Kalei seemed uncomfortably focused on Third even while getting in Szeth-daughter-daughter-Neturo's face (what a mouthful, even by First of the Sun's naming standards). He'd have to keep an eye on the Doctor, as well as the oddly named Doc, who seemed to be behaving erratically. Gotten into a supply of tainted fruit, perhaps? He promised himself he'd pay closer attention from now on (again), as the group began arguing amongst themselves.
  3. Do we know if Nale has spent all of the time between the last Desolation and the current time on Roshar? I could see Returned (at least the Hallandren Gods) being considered Demigods, or perhaps other characters on other planets, if he's worldhopped at all. In fact, could that be connected to why Vasher is on Roshar, and why Nale has Nightblood?
  4. It sounds to me like we're taking the "cracks in the Spiritweb" concept the wrong way. When Brandon talked about it, it was in the context of gaining access to a magic system that changed your Spiritweb. A way in is needed for something that becomes part of you. An Honorblade, however, is like having a magical artifact. It's doing the magic, not the person, so the person's soul wouldn't need to be cracked, necessarily. That may also be exactly why the Honorblades (and dead Sprenblades) can't heal the soul, since they're "locked out" of it. They can neither damage nor heal the wielder's soul.
  5. Ack, I was so sure of JUQ. Mage, I know you're probably going to vote on me considering what you said, so I thought I'd jump in first. Someone's going for some classic misdirection by taking out Alv while we lynched JUQ. Alv said he was sure of STINK, but we never really heard anything of why, and now he's dead, but that actually makes me suspect STINK less, since I'm pretty sure he'd be smarter than that. Then again, it doesn't point me to anyone directly yet. I guess I don't suspect our two pinch hitters directly yet. They should get at least a round to show themselves. Edit: I just read Alvron's post explaining why he voted against STINK. I'm not convinced by the reasoning, though he wasn't just going random, but I don't see STINK killing him after that either, because it would so obviously implicate him.

  7. I'm not sure what tone you can pick up on that's suspicious. Maybe I've just set myself up because of my previous games? I should have the same tone, despite being an Elim those games and not this one, because I intend to have the same tone always. An erratic one at times, sure, as I said before (not sure if that was in this game or the other one), but the same tone. ------- Quintus knelt down and looked over the blood stains in the cellar. Unlike the writing from the previous morning, this was definitely and truly blood, but it didn't seem to fit what he'd been told about Huxton's body. The blood looked like it had dripped onto the floor hard, enough that it splattered like raindrops. It couldn't have done that, though, if he was laying on the floor, right? He glanced up at the ceiling, but there was no obvious explanation. This house was definitely becoming a dangerous place to be, though, not just because of the others watching him and everyone else suspiciously, but the house itself was beginning to feel...malevolent. He sat down by the wall of the cell and watched the inevitable accusations begin flying, even though he knew this was not the work of any mere human.
  8. Let's please not have a tie. I dislike leaving things to chance, and I don't think STINK is an Elim, not currently. I get that you're suspicious of me either way, and I wish I had a way to change that (one hasn't occurred to me, but if I can do anything to help clear myself, beyond lynching Elims, let me know). I do hope you won't let something like this end with a coin toss, however.
  9. Sorry to hear you're suspicious of me, Rae. When I said that, I knew phatt was innocent, and I knew I hadn't seen a single thing that made me suspicious of anyone else. Nor was I expecting to, since the ratio of Elims to villagers was/is so low. Our job is much harder with so many fewer Elims to find than average, so I was fishing for suggestions (I also asked a few others similar questions). I don't see how that makes me suspicious, nor was I claimed prescience or extra knowledge.
  10. I think he's clarified that quote later as noting that he meant that having a living Shardblade would allow you to heal Spiritual wounds to yourself, while having a dead Shardblade (or presumably Honorblade, except perhaps one granting Regrowth) would not. It doesn't have anything to do with the blade used to wound you, but the one you yourself have while trying to heal a wound you've received.
  11. Considering the covers mold to fit the Shardblades, and can't break at all while they're on there, I suspect they're made out of basically the same stuff as Shardplate, whatever that is. The similarities are too direct.
  12. So I wonder now, based on a few of the things speculated here, what if the fain life is spreading beyond Yolen, but not by Adolnasium's design? What if the Shattering, in addition to leaving the Shards, also sent smaller bits of Adolnasium's Investiture flying out through the Cosmere? And what if some of those pieces passed through and picked up portions of the fain life (we don't know why it works the way it does, so it could be Investiture itself rather than biological, which would make sense from the way it behaves, to me), and that is now spreading out from Yolen? That could be the reason for the Scar, as the fain life destroys even stars, causing them to burn cooler and turn the stars red (I think that's why they'd be red, anyone with astronomy backgrounds could correct me if needed).
  13. I think in addition to the WoB indicating they aren't, there's a tricky definition between Innate Investiture and Kinetic Investiture, which is a debate I've been seeing in several threads. I would like to find out if a person's original Breath could be taken with a spike, but not ones they've gained since then (which is a confirmed no). I think the person's original Breath, since it's actually considered part of their soul, albeit a "perforated" or removable part, could probably be stolen. Of course, it'd be easier to just force the person to give it to you, probably, but Hemalurgy might allow for some unusual uses for it, so it's possible we'll see or hear of someone at least trying to do that.
  14. I suspect only a Shard (and possibly only Ruin, or now Harmony) could provide a "third-party Intent" like that, since they'd be directly connected to the magical system involved. If there was some type of Connection (big C) between you and the friend, or victim, or spike, or all of the above, and that allowed it, that would be really interesting information to have.
  15. To all the Sharders in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving! (To all the Sharders outside the US, you too, but I don't know of any other country actually celebrating a holiday like this today. Correct me if I'm wrong!) I'm thankful for Brandon's crazy mind and fast fingers, so that we have tons of amazing stories to read.

  18. This bandwagon on STINK stinks (heh) of an attempt to save JUQ by throwing suspicion on someone else, though it's an admittedly poor attempt, considering the significant lack of details. I'm inclined to suspect Alv less for his part in it than JUQ or DA, simply because I'd expect him to be a little more careful than to start a train like that, but of course, he may not have known it would go like that. To everyone that hadn't voted, please do, and take into account everything that's happening here.
  19. Not having to go to a repair shop is always a good thing. I'd suggest checking if it needs to be cleaned too, btw, if you're going to have a wrench to tighten it back down.
  20. I know, but I think that's because they were trying to explore, and quickly fell foul of the Nightmaws and other dangers on Patji. That tells me the people who came through the perpindicularity aren't there after the aviar (specifically), but are probably like Khriss, there to gain knowledge. That also tells me the Ones Above probably don't worldhop through the Cognitive Realm, or at least aren't know by Khriss and Khrew™. *Not actually trademarked.
  21. That's an odd point that just hit me, though. If the Ones Above wanted the aviar, but could worldhop, why not just come in through the pool, grab the birds, and go? No need to go out into the rest of the island. I don't think the Ones Above can worldhop, or at least they don't know about the perpendicularity.
  22. Mage, I'm not trying to play any first-time-villager card (I used up my noob claims I. MR17 I think ). I'm being completely genuine here, which is probably why I sometimes seem erratic. I do that IRL too. I try to keep people off balance, sure, but I'm also just an inconsistent person and don't always understand my own reasoning. With JUQ, though, remember that I'm not really jumping on the bandwagon so much; I suspected him C1 and the fact that El was village was something someone stated ahead of time would make him more suspicious. He couldn't well have retracted his vote at that point, since that would also have seemed suspicious.
  23. I suspect that would have been mentioned if so. It's possible it just wasn't relevant enough, but I suspect it actually prolongs their total lifespan, and they sort of pick up where they left off.
  24. @Elbereth, the only flaw in that idea about Mage being a traitor and not knowing who the other one is, is that right there in what you quoted, it says they'll gain access to the Traitor Doc. If so, they should know who the others are. I suppose it's not 100% guaranteed, but I think that throws a wrench into that idea (not that it clears Mage, but that's not likely to be the reason for his behavior).
