Good way to say it, @aeromancer. I was also trying to avoid sparking off a bad discussion, so I'm glad you had a fairly safe way to put it. To everyone involved, I wasn't planning to turn this into a protracted discussion, but a lot of the comments were coming from non-Americans, who don't have the same perspective because of how different our country is from...most others.

I was thinking the same thing, Wonko. But bad ideas seem to be my speciality (say that as spesh-E-al-eh-tee). Third of the Storm will sign up.

Recreance: What happened to the Radiants-in-Training
Jondesu replied to Lewis Nethur's topic in Stormlight Archive
My impression had been that if the bond hasn't developed to the point of a Shardblade being possible, the spren would simply return to the Cognitive Realm, but I realized that doesn't really line up with the fact that there are almost no spren still "alive" who were bonded at the time. Something still catastrophic must happen to them, even if they're not stuck in blade form. It also wouldn't make sense to me for them to be a blade, though, if they were never able to become one prior to the oaths being broken. We might have to wait and see. -

I haven't found much of an effective method of coping beyond not trying to do much. If I just chill and don't really think about anything, it fades to just an irritation, but as soon as I start moving around or try to do anything, it builds and becomes debilitating. Trying to think about something too involved sets it off too, unfortunately, which is why I haven't been able to work (I was doing chat support, and it was just way too much to try to fight through the pain and continue thinking critically enough to handle the troubleshooting over chat). Sometimes music will help, sometimes it makes it worse. And yes, all the storming time. We just went back to the first neurologist we saw, who I was annoyed at for never getting the issue, and every time we've been there, I have to explain again that it's always there, not that I get a headache every day. Most people seem to grasp it, though they still often then ask how often I get a headache, but the doctors keep pissing me off. -

Not to get too heavy into the politics, but I did want to chime in on two parts that I feel knowledgeable about. @Yata, there were more reasonable candidates for both parties, but some of them backed out due to scandal or just because they could tell their campaign wasn't going to win, so they could encourage their supporters to vote for someone they could agree with the most. On the Democrat side, it was basically only ever Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton that was going to be nominated. There's a lot of accusations that the primaries were rigged against Bernie Sanders, but I think a lot of the issue is that he had the support of a lot of people who were young and passionate, but who didn't actually outnumber those who were worried by his far-left policies. Hillary also had Barack Obama's implicit support because she was part of his Cabinet, and then later his official support (I don't remember if that was before or after the primary, though). As for the Republicans, there was much more competition there, or it seemed like there was to me, but again, several people pulled out due to scandals, and others simply were overwhelmed. There were several very valid potential candidates going into the primaries, though, Ted Cruz being the next most popular behind Trump, but Trump simply had far more support. Don't believe what the media says; they were biased against Trump from the beginning, and it's obvious no matter which side you're on here. He got more than double the number of votes that Ted Cruz had in the primaries. @Eki, "First Past The Post" is only true in the Electoral College because once you reach that mark, there's not enough remaining votes for the other candidate to tie or beat you. It's simply a means of declaring the winner before tallying every last vote, once it's obvious. The Electoral College itself is in place because we're not one big country that votes together. We're a Union of 50 States, and those states each get a number of votes based on their population (the same division already in place for the House of Representatives) as to who will lead the Union, i.e. the President of the United States of America. The reason it's done that way is because if it wasn't, the densely populated cities would virtually always outnumber and make irrelevant the votes of anyone living elsewhere, and if you look at a map showing the population density, that means a tiny percentage of the country (location-wise) would decide the leadership for the entire rest of the country. The Founding Fathers had heated debates about this because some states like New York already had big cities with huge populations, while others had few cities and none that densely populated, so their citizens would have been entirely at the mercy of New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and just a few other locations. It's an insanely creative and intelligent solution that just so happens to sometimes result in the popular vote not being the exact deciding factor for the Presidency, on purpose. It's not broken, but it takes a little bit to understand.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
Jondesu replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Just saw Dr Strange as well. Trippy, but I thought it was very impressive. Some people had been saying they felt it was lacking compared to the other Marvel movies, but I don't agree, it was just a very different type of movie, but equally impressive (and funny too). -
So, Brandon?

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Jondesu replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Have to say, it's nice doing some planning with no roles involved. We don't have to convince anyone to trust us yet, or try to play anyone and put a lynch on a specific person.- 980 replies

I'm not sure Aman's still cool with Aman's plan. I can absolutely get behind the plan to only lynch inactives at first, unless we get a big obvious clue somehow. Helps keep the game moving and fun without hurting either team much.- 980 replies

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I've had a 24/7 constant headache for 2 years, 10 months, and 12 days now. It's defied all classification (some say tension or stress headaches, others a kind of persistent migraine, and one called it a "new daily persistent headache", which is fairly useless except as a description) and resisted all meds and treatments so far, completely. Nothing touches it. What did you find as an alternative, though? -
Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Jondesu replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Quintus stared up the road at the house on the hill. He'd spent some time in town listening to the regulars at the bar go on about the stories, rumors and myths really, and swearing they would never go near the place. Quint wouldn't be surprised in the least to find a good number of them as visitors the following day, despite their words. Curiosity and the fascination with dark and creepy things would get the best of them in the end. Quintus wasn't immune to the same appeal, but he was there for a different purpose. The Worldsingers had been established to gather tales from all over the worlds, and pass them along. In this case, he had been given special instructions from his mentor to not allow any details to be missed. The man could be insufferable at times, tossing his dust around or playing his flute at the oddest times, though he'd looked oddly pleased by his own music more recently, as had those of the Third Heightening or higher that had walked nearby while he played on the street corner. He had very specific requirements of his students, though, and this seemed to be Quintus' big test from what he could tell. If he could figure out the story of this house and report back, perhaps even bringing some Awakened objects or other interesting artifacts, he hoped to gain his master's trust more, to the point of perhaps even being sent to another world. Colors, that would be amazing. For now, Quint turned and headed back to the inn to await the promised opening of the mansion. The next day promised to be very interesting.- 980 replies

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
According to my neurologist, we've exhausted the medication options for my head pain. Next (and only) possible option is Botox injections, directly into my scalp. Where it hurts already. 8 of them in one go. And even though I'm (somewhat) willing to go through the pain and risks associated, I have to wait and dread until December 22nd before they can do it. Did I mention that Botox carries a risk of paralysis? -

In this game as in all of mine, I won't hesitate to lie through my teeth (fingers?) if necessary. I'm gonna try to RP an origin for Quintus soon, I've got an idea budding but don't have time to put it together yet.- 980 replies

I've heard that a few times, and while Kelsier would do some very distasteful things, he truly likes Spook and I doubt he'd have done that to him specifically.

I'm told the Google Nexus is fairly good, or get another HTC, I've always liked their build quality. (I'm an iPhone guy and always will be, so I'm not the best source. Just don't get a Samsung phone.)

Yeah, that would make it more playable, but I was hoping to somehow keep the Epics in character (arrogant, public, etc). Perhaps that just won't really work out for an SE game, but I'm hoping I can figure out a way. I asked you about the spoiler rules because you mentioned them in your last post to me here. Figured you must know at least the basics of the rules. And yeah, the Reckoners would have to be a hidden faction. Maybe the Epics shouldn't be players, but the mod or NPC's basically, and the Regulars would need to try to weed out the Reckoners or else incite the wrath of the Epics in some way. That way the Reckoners could be a hidden faction trying to protect themselves and accomplish a goal, but that goal wouldn't necessarily entail killing off all the regulars.
