  1. Doc's lurking is reaching the point of suspicion to me. He might be getting caught up in figuring out his new role as an Elim, if he was turned, though there might be plenty of other reasons potentially. For now, though, Doc until he provides some defense.
  2. Not at all, Elbereth! Perhaps my approach relies on other people also being active, but I can watch for tells without knowing what they are yet (people picked up quickly on my slipup in the last QF game, after all), while still RPing and contributing game discussion (I have been so far, haven't I?). In fact, you're beginning to see like you're pushing pretty hard for me, which doesn't seem much out of character, but does get me worried. I'll be keeping an eye on you.
  3. When I said something of substance, El, I meant behavior different from normal. Elims always have a tell. I'm watching for those.
  4. I'm always wary of first day lynches, but the reasoning behind not just trying to skip it has been explained enough times I'm more comfortable with it. I'd like to see more posts from everyone who hasn't yet. Lopen and Assassin have joined me (albeit minimally in RP only for Assassin), but of course it's still early. Doc, Dani, and El are I think all in LG28 with me, which could explain them being on but not posting here yet, but of course doesn't clear them. (EDIT: Elbereth ninja'd me, so thanks.) I've never been one to do poke votes, though, so I'll let ya'll worry about that if you want. I'll throw in a vote if I see something of substance.
  5. Third of the Storm eyed the foreigners and offworlders around him disdainfully. Just because more Ones Above and others had begun showing up, he didn't suddenly have to start treating them like they belonged. Third wasn't a Hunter, so he didn't go to Patji regularly, but like all of his people, he respected Patji and the other gods greatly. He wasn't about to pass up a job assisting these offworlders for the amount he'd been offered, however. The gods only deserved so much respect. They had every right to try to kill the intruders, however. Third didn't begrudge the islands that. He simply made sure he wouldn't be one of the victims. His aviar, Sisiru, had been purchased from a hunter who had earned his reputation by raising aviar here on Patji himself for some time, and would shield him from the mind-hunting predators. Several similar aviar were along on this trip, in fact, but Third wasn't about to let Sisiru out of his sight. She hopped from tree branch to tree branch above him most of the time, returning occasionally to eat a snack from his pocket. She'd keep his mind hidden. He'd keep his eyes open.
  6. The Reckoners would be using group actions for both acquiring items and sending in a kill (so only one item received, or one person killed, per cycle, and not both). Definitely won't reveal roles if I include a releasing mechanism. It would be instead of the lynch if the Regulars do it, but there would have to be something to prevent them from breaking the game with that, yeah. Hadn't decided if the Epic would kill if they only release someone, but probably. I guess that tends back towards a role, but it'd need to be one time use or in some other way limited.
  7. Thanks for explaining, Hael, and I'm beginning to agree with El that you're not as suspicious as my first instinct (plus I was mostly getting you to discuss your reasoning). Lots of poke votes, which is fine, but nothing seems to be really panning out yet.
  8. Yeah, making them not able to both kill and receive an item in the same cycle would discourage them from killing very often, since they can't win if they don't get the items. As for alignment, I would almost certainly reveal that on death, but I'm back to leaning towards not revealing it for jailed players. Edit: I also think there will be a mechanism for releasing people from the jail, either via a role, or if the Regulars vote on that instead of a lynch (so a reverse lynch, I suppose).
  9. I've wavered on revealing roles of jailed players. It could be depressing to put people in jail but have no clue if you're getting close to winning, or it might keep the game from breaking. Perhaps it would be best to keep jailed players roles secret. Having a way to get rid of a Minion would be good for the Reckoners. Perhaps instead of gaining an item, they could get a kill (they wouldn't have reason to use that often, since killing Regulars doesn't help them, but it would keep the Minions from wanting to reveal themselves).

  11. @Haelbarde, I'm always suspicious of people who make the first accusation, though most eliminators will wait, but I'm very suspicious of the way you did it. I don't see a bit of reasoning for it being Elbereth, and if your goal was the stimulate discussion, I'd think you'd target someone who hasn't been active. Can you give us any reason you're calling out Elbereth? EDIT: Oh, and I found absolutely nothing. Quintus isn't very happy, since he came here to find lots of stuff for his master.
  12. @Elbereth Would PMs be completely open, then? Pretty much Do the items do anything else other than helping against the Epic? Some would, most likely (hadn't actually considered that part much yet, thanks). The Regulars are a lot better than before. I still worry that they'd be somewhat bored because they're not trying to find eliminators? They're trying to find Minions, who aren't even relevant to them. Can the Regulars win if they imprison all the Reckoners? Or do they have to win with the Reckoners? These go together. The Regulars win if they imprison all the Reckoners (who would then be publicly executed by the Epic). Can the Jailed talk to each other? Would they have a doc in which to do so? (that thought is prompted by QF14, which had a similar if-you're-lynched-you're-jailed mechanic). Jailed can talk to each other, sure, but only via PM, no doc (a doc would open up the ability for newly jailed people to see previous messages, which I wouldn't want). Is alignment revealed upon being jailed? Yes, though perhaps with some special exceptions for some roles. I was originally thinking no, but there's actually no reason not to, except maybe the Minions. Getting rid of the Minions doesn't win the game for the Regulars, so perhaps letting their identity be kept secret when they're jailed would make sense. Can anyone other than the Reckoners use the items? The items needed to kill the Epic would only be available to the Reckoners. There may be additional roles or "items" separate from those which the regulars or minions would have access to, however. I would figure out a way to distinguish those clearly (though it wouldn't matter to non-Reckoners). It indeed would be GM-heavy in a way, with hints and the items keyed into that. I would make sure I had that all planned out well in advance so I'm not thinking of it during the game, though. Thanks for your input, glad it looks like a fun game to you! If you don't end up co-GMing for some reason, I hope you play it instead!
  13. Right, Bugsy could in theory be Elim, but finding the omen just means some random person was turned, not that he himself did. Thanks! Doc PMd me too, so he's not been inactive completely, just hasn't been posting here. I might find that suspicious in other games, but we know prior to this he wasn't an Elim, so it's just his choice thus far. I know Jefry hasn't played a lot (@jefrywlfersn, was MR17 your first game too? I don't remember), and Nathan was new in the last QF game, so I'd be in favor of letting them both play as long as we can spare them at least. Don't really know Phattemer. Lady of Chaos I think was also fairly new, so that throws a wrench in the lynching inactives plan. Anyone else have an idea beyond a non-lynch? I might actually decide that was ok in this case, if we don't get any other clues. EDIT: @Wonko the Sane, I must have missed something related to stamps. I was assuming maybe the pocketwatch was a clue or an omen itself, though I suppose that would be odd to put it into the writeup like that. The scratches (claw marks?) may be a hint, though.
  14. Thanks for letting us know, Bugsy. Too bad we don't really get any indication of who it turned. Was there anything to hint what effect it would have? @Wyrmhero has been hinting there would be different kinds of eliminators turned.
  15. Ooh, omens. I figured there would be some, and whoever said it'd be about 2 this cycle was apparently spot on. Of course, no indicators yet for the lynch (I don't think voting to lynch the duck counts). Does anyone want to run the list to see who's been inactive so far, and who's new so we can encourage participation without risking taking them out early?
  16. I love cold weather too. I'm in Florida, so the closest we get is 50s during the day usuallly. The low tonight is 41, which is awesome. And yeah, any movement towards Stormlight 3 is worthy of celebration!
  17. I'm still up for lynching an inactive, if there's a veteran who's inactive (obviously don't want to take out a newbie, since I wouldn't have appreciated that my first game, but if there's anyone who's been around who's inactive, I don't think they'd mind). I think it helps us more than not lynching anyone.
  18. I like it! Hurt Murkwood, Heal Firefight 1. Steelheart-5 2.Calamity-5 3. Firefight-6 4. Murkwood-4 5. Limelight-6 6. Conflux-4 7. Nightwielder-5 8. Fortuity-5 9. Obliteration-5 10. Regalia-5
  19. Well, we can't lynch anyone right now anyways (it's night) and we'll see what happens after this first night. There will be traitors by the time the day cycle begins, I assume, but we'll have virtually no evidence to go by until one of the new elims post something suspicious.
  20. That's an awesome site (and I'm guessing the one most GM's here have used, since it looks exactly like what I've seen in the games I've played). Bookmarking!
  21. Would be nice, though I believe the rollover is in two hours (4PM EST, which is where I am, 9PM GST). EDIT: RP! Quintus leaned back against the wall, exhausted by his searching. No aluminum that he could find, no hidden objects. Oh well, time to move on. He started to reach for a door opposite to where he came in, then frowned. Wasn't the door on the wall to the left of the bed? Why was that wall now blank except for the tapestry? He inspected the tapestry again just to be sure, but it didn't seem to be awakened, nor did it conceal a door. He turned back to the door he'd been preparing to open. It was gone. Instead, that wall now had an open doorway with a set of stairs curving up and away to the left. He checked the map he'd drawn of the room; he hadn't made a mistake. He decided a new approach was necessary. He quickly sketched the changes on his map, noting the times they had happened, then headed up the stairs. In the new room that opened at the top of the staircase (which he was sure was at least two additional stories above where he'd started), he noticed a window, and peeked out. He was on the ground floor. Stunned, he sat back and reassessed his map. Apparently this house was going to be more intriguing, but also more dangerous, than he'd initially assumed. He smiled, though. His master would be pleased, if he could bring back evidence, or even magical items from the house. Perhaps the house even had a central source of it's own magic.

    Aluminum

Keep in mind most metals that don't contain iron are non-magnetic. Many of the Allomantic metals (like gold) are non-magnetic, and other metals with no Allomantic effects (like silver) are also non-magnetic, but don't have any special effects like aluminum. I don't think that particular quality of aluminum is likely behind his choice of aluminum, though I do wonder if there was a more specific reason than an almost random choice of aluminum.
  23. Keep in mind that the ability to rewrite his Spiritweb doesn't mean the knowledge to rewrite it the way he wants it to be. I suspect that Hoid has the ability, at least to a degree (perhaps limited to specific changes), but doesn't know how to change it to achieve specific results beyond a few he's already learned (changing his age, for instance). The Spiritweb is sort of like a complex program, in my mind, and finding the correct "lines of code" would be particularly tough without actually understanding the code, or being able to see it, for that matter. The Lerasium gave him a window into that world, so to speak, as well as an example of the code needed to rewrite his Spiritweb to become an Allomancer, which would give him insight as to how it would be possible to rewrite his connections and Spiritweb for other purposes. I think we all have a tendency to assume Hoid has infinite knowledge and ability, based on his near-prescience and the way he keeps doing and saying things that are really insightful or well planned, but we need to keep in mind he still has much to learn. He said himself that this doesn't work as well as he'd like (referring to his ability to know where to go and when, it seems, but I suspect the same idea would apply to much of his work and life). He's very smart and very motivated, but he can only get what he wants by researching and learning. :-)
