Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!

I'm not sure. I suspect they don't believe it as fervently as they claim, though. -
Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Actually, it's worse than that. They're basically scam artists. They provoke people, get attacked, sue, and make themselves rich. Practically the entire family/church (the whole church is basically one family) is lawyers, and they've made it a very profitable business model, though morally abhorrent. -
I'm just a little ways into Rogue One, but I also just picked up the first two books of The Powder Mage trilogy. Which they purchased because I recommended them. Which means I'm the first person to read these copies. Which is cool.

I lost my magic armor in exchange for magical powers to store and use my own body's traits. Eh, I guess it's more versatile.

Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Jondesu replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I know I haven't GMed yet, but it seems to me that I might choose a player like Mark, who did well in LG28 and only got taken out by the Elims after a while, would be a good player who wouldn't be quickly suspected and could pull it off, while not just giving all the fun to someone who had been around for a ton of games. -
Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Jondesu replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ugh, I have to start by apologizing for not really reading up on the LG2 rules, or I would have understood the Inquisitor and the conversions. Even after it was initially said by several other players, it took a while to sink into my thick skull, so I've only now really fully understood the concept. With that, since there is only 1 Elim right now, I am more inclined to agree on not having a D1 lynch, especially since we also know that there won't be an Elim team putting forward two votes to just force a lynch to happen. Aman just ninja'd me, though, and I also agree that the situation isn't really going to change. There. has been a ton of discussion, however, so I don't think we're going to lose anything this cycle if we don't have an actual Lynch. I will absolutely make sure to place a vote next cycle, however, and would be vehemently opposed to not lynching someone then at the latest, since that would put us at a significant disadvantage in information, plus it just sets a bad precedent of there being little threat to anyone's life, at least from the town. I'll retract my vote on Elenion at the moment, though I maintain my suspicion of him. @Dalinar Kholin, @DroughtBringer, @Ecthelion III, and @Iamspartacus, you haven't posted since the game began. Are you all going to be able to participate? If so, what are your thoughts on the question of the lynch, and the two role-claiming recommendations (Aman said we shouldn't reveal roles at all, a smart choice in most cases and especially in a conversion game, while Mark suggested Thugs should claim to try to draw out the Inquisitor). @Figberts and @Sart, you've really only posted RP (Sart voted on himself, but I don't count that in this case, especially considering the nature of the vote), which is a really convenient way to hide as an Elim sometimes. Can you please share some thoughts on the discussion as well? @Mark IV, others have expressed this as well, but I find myself suspicious of a couple things. First, your comment about the number of Elims, though your explanation was fairly satisfactory. In fact, you could be wrong, so that isn't why I'm still suspicious, but it's what made me initially look at you. Then, I looked at your idea of having Thugs claim, and then using any subsequent failed lynches to identify the Inquisitor. When I played a Thug before, I realized that I could end up clearing myself by being attacked by the Elims, but surviving (which is indeed exactly what happened, though I still had people suspicious of me), but if I'd claimed, they would have either arranged a situation where they could double-tap me, or would simply leave me alone, and I wouldn't be able to draw out any information. Claiming a role like the Thug is almost as bad as claiming a protect role or Seeker. The seeker should never claim unless they think they've identified close to or the entire Elim team (which can change in this game, so especially risky), though they should use their knowledge of people's alignments to guide discussion toward lynching them, or maybe ask a Coinshot to take someone out, if they think they can trust that Coinshot. In fact, since I'm still waffling on the idea of a D1 lynch this game, despite the low odds of hitting the Inquisitor, at this point I am going to place my vote on Mark. What you've been suggesting is too risky, and seems like a good way to draw out mistings that could hurt the Elims plans, so they can be safely eliminated or converted. -
Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Jondesu replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart snorted. Youngsters and their street slang. He was hearing far too much of it in the room, which made him wonder about Lord Tekiel's standards (though his chefs were excellent). "Listen, some of us don't go about ising and wasing all day. Anyone here going to figure out a plan? At least the lady with the cigarette is asking questions. Namely, what in the name of the Lord Ruler's ashes is this test we're supposed to pass?" I was going to RP my vote, but it didn't make sense. @Elenion, this may be my usual tunneling on you, but you threw in a little role play, and a question about the Inquisitors that makes me suspicious you might be one, or that you're a role that would benefit from finding them. You're usually a vocal player, but something's feeling off so far. For now, Elenion has my vote, as a hopefully useful D1 vote. On that note, I hope we don't have to go through the usual poke vote debate, but Aman said it well. I think I've become convinced finally that we have to put votes out with thought behind them, but aggressively enough to generate debate and make people defend themselves and others, and we need to have a Day 1 lynch as well (that might not be true in some games with unusual mechanics, but definitely in most games). I'll happily switch my vote if presented with a better option, but I am honestly suspicious of what Len has posted so far. Tomorrow I'll try analyzing all of the posts at the time I get a chance and put together some more information too. -
@Wyrmhero, did I say anything like that? I always play for my team to win, and I get killed early more often than I survive, and don't complain. But it is less fun to die early, and that's simply fact. I acknowledge that fact. I don't play to survive to the detriment of my team, but I'm not going to pretend I'm just as happy when I go out early.

Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Jondesu replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart grunted and sat upright, or mostly upright. The hall he found himself in was nice enough he presumed it was Tekiel's, though perhaps not the main one in his Keep. The other people waking around him were also waking and looking around, most of them at least, but few noticed the food in front of them as quickly as Remart. He picked up a nice roll of bread and a hunk of meat and dug in, storing away the calories for later. He might need those at some point. This Lord Tekiel was well-connected, and while Remart was glad to have been saved some of his journey, knocking out a pewterarm was no easy thing, so Tekiel must have sent his men prepared. Remart simply hoped that his Feruchemy remained a secret for now. Just a note, I'm keeping Remart a pewter misting like he was in AG3, but it's just for RP. I probably won't draw on it much since he's gotten used to keeping his use of pewter subtle, if he has any in him in the first place. -

wild theories Intelligent Constructs via Divine Breath
Jondesu replied to Jondesu's topic in Warbreaker
That's a large part of what brought this to mind. A regular Breath is only a part of the spiritweb, as has been pointed out. The Divine Breath is something else, though. It seems to me to be sort of…a staple or glue holding the entire original spiritweb to the Returned's body. If so, it seems theoretically possible to me to move the entire thing to a new body, without sacrificing the Divine Breath in the same way. It might involve a hack of the system instead of just a specific Command, though. -
Haven't been able to get a copy yet, my library doesn't have it either online or as a physical book.

I survived my first game and won, but yeah, it's awesome just to survive either way. I always prefer to win, of course, but it's less fun to have to sit in the dead doc and just observe.

@Darkness Ascendant, what is Purple Prose? I've never heard that term before. -
wild theories Intelligent Constructs via Divine Breath
Jondesu replied to Jondesu's topic in Warbreaker
Yeah, it's an unknown, but it helps that Brandon has described giving away or using your Breath (your original one) as being similar to what Hemalurgy does: it takes a part of your soul, the spiritweb, and moves it, just without the trauma since they're designed that way by Endowment. If moving part of the spiritweb is possible, it might be possible to move the whole thing. -
@Weltall, those should really all be inside spoiler tags since this is the Stormlight forum.

Szeth' afterimages have been confirmed to be because of the way he was brought back, apparently. This isn't the WoB technically, but a paraphrase from the person who either asked or was recording the event:
-
We don't really know for sure, although we suspect Adolnasium at least created most of the life in the Cosmere (Roshar in particular we know was designed by him very intentionally), but we don't know if Yolen and its sapient races were all created by Adolnasium, for instance. I'm of the opinion he probably did create everything in the Cosmere, or at least all of the life, but I don't even know if anyone's asked Brandon that.
-
So, we have a WoB that a Divine Breath could theoretically be used to Awaken, but it seems like it would have to be something worth giving your life away for, since as best we can guess, it would kill the Returned who did it. However, I can think of one possibility that might be worth it. Imagine making a human-shaped body out of metal, or stone, and then using your Divine Breath to Awaken it, which in theory may also imprint part of your own soul into it. With the right command, would it be possible to basically transfer your entire consciousness into the construct, making yourself into a stone or metal man, fully sapient, but as an Awakened creation of your own?

Quiver, those ideas sound awesome! I'm not much of a writer myself, but how about this approach? Take the idea (the clothes granting magic, for instance), and just start expanding it a bit. What would a hat grant? What would a pair of pants grant? What could someone do with the power it grants? Let the story ideas grow out of expanding the original idea, rather than trying to create a story you can fit the idea into.

I know what you mean, I have the same issue with songs. I've tried some of the prompts on Reddit, maybe that would help you? Just to spark ideas. Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/WritingPrompts

Rusts, last LG, @Darkness Ascendant changed characters in the middle of the game. You're good.
