[DISPROVED] Random Speculation: The Plague in the Purelake
hoidhunter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Again...I think it sounds plausible...you might be onto something...I just don't know if I'm totally convinced. If I lived on Roshar...I wouldn't open a stormlight lantern tanning salon to keep people healthier...but I might start sleeping with the stormlight on...just in case. On a separate note, I know that the weather in the purelake is almost always perfect, and the water is shallow and warm...but does anyone else think that living in a place where you are ALWAYS wet from the knee down sounds like a nightmare? -
[DISPROVED] Random Speculation: The Plague in the Purelake
hoidhunter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
You know...the more you guys talk about it...the more I'm buying into the idea...I do remember recently reading a WoB about stormlight helping plants grow...maybe my contrary position was hasty... EDIT: I now feel that I should up vote you for posing the idea...up vote for humility (on my part) -
You're both meaniefaces...and I totally meant to up vote you both...panda...I'm sorry...I'm doing this on my kindle...and the buttons were really close together...feel free to down vote me back...my bad...that IS actually the first time I have ever cast a down vote. EDIT: and to keep things on thread...Arthur...I do think that this one may just be coincidental...

What's up darkness...have an up vote as well...for...punctuality...

Hey...welcome to the 17th shard. I don't know if that is right. Could be...but I think that the story of hoid is going to be a complicated one by the time we get to read it. The same can be said for adonalsium. So it's not a bad idea...maybe just one that's a little too simple. Maybe expand it a bit...But...Hey, Welcome to the 17th shard! Have an up vote!

Plot to Destroy Adonalsium - CONFIRMED BY BRANDON
hoidhunter replied to imriel452's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I like it. There's a couple of things I don't agree with totally...but I like it. After reading a bunch of q and a sessions, I definitely get the feeling that the shattering may have not something that was done to him...but rather by him. Not certain, just kind of a feeling. Up vote for postulation...- 66 replies

the most useless uses for useful powers

Use a full lashing to keep your shoe laces tied... Use a full lashing to stick stuff to your fridge instead of magnets... -
Now I know that double posting is frowned upon...but come on...this thread died more than a month ago...AND IT SHOULD NOT HAVE! I'm going to try and bring this thing back with a very minor and almost totally irrelevant Easter egg...in final empire...on Vin's first night of training...she burns iron without knowing what she is doing, and a nail flys at her...almost catching her in the face...she thinks to herself...(paraphrasing) one of the metals let's you animate inanimate objects to attack people? What an incredible power! I noticed this on my first reread or mistborn AFTER reading warbreaker...I thought it was very clever.

You know...I've always felt that the whole spoilers thing is a little unnecessary. I know...I know...not everyone has read all of the books...but...if you are really concerned about having little bits of plot spoiled for you...you probably shouldn't be on the author's fan site. Besides...how many times have you decided to read a book because a friend has told you a lot about it...and it sounds good. Personally...I think that having a bit of extra info on a story can help you understand and appreciate the plot better.

The guy does have a silver knife in his trophy case...although...I guess he's from that planet isn't he? Here's a question...how would someone from from a barley invested world end up as a world hopper? Maybe there is some truth in the post about shades being the result of the cog realm bleeding over into the physical on threnody.

[DISPROVED] Random Speculation: The Plague in the Purelake

Again...I'm not saying that it is impossible...but Mr.T also runs a massive free hospital to treat the sick and wounded (with somewhat sinister intent behind it) but the fact remains that a large scale free hospital is seen by the masses as an incredible act of philanthropy. There's gotta be a bunch of sick people for something like that to be necessary. -
Well...while I don't have the WoB handy...Brandon does mention somewhere that Adonalsium visited Roshar before the splintering...I guess it's possible for a place to visit another place...but it just doesn't seem to fit just right...

HemalurgySame offer goes to the first to solve "dancer of roid was".

Just call me Slartibartfast there Dentarthurdent... When considering how this whole huge epic story that is the cosmere is going to wrap up...I can't see any other outcome aside from Adonalsium being reformed. I mean...being that it's a fictional world...I guess literally ANYTHING could happen...but at this point in time...that's my best guess.

This is way off from what a lot of you are guessing...but...in Shadesmar...black spheres are representative of different physical objects. During one of Jasnah's trips there...she finds a sphere that actually represents the entire palace. Could this be the cognitive representation of something that was somehow pulled into the physical world?

[DISPROVED] Random Speculation: The Plague in the Purelake
hoidhunter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well...In the beginning of WoK one of the other slaves has "the grinding coughs" and Kaladin knows how to treat it. The slave master is concerned enough about the sickness spreading that he kills the guy. Renarian has "blood weakness" with appears to be some kind of genetic seizure disorder. I'm not saying that it's not a possibility that Rosharians rarely get sick...but I don't know if I buy it... -
And to think...all of this positive energy came from Nazis...and anal sodium...
-
upvote for good taste...Breeze if definitely my favorite mistborn character...I voted for Zane in this pole because I like illustrating other things that god could tell you to do aside from "KILL HIM!"...anyway...I love the idea of someone who is snobbish, lazy, selfish, and manipulative on the outside...but secretly spends all of his time trying to make other people feel better without ever taking credit for it.

I've actually brought up the whole "Lost Metal refers to Atium" thing in a few threads myself...so...upvote for thinking alike...also...welcome to the 17th shard! Along this line...I have a theory about the pits making atium in AoL. We know that Harmony is having a hard time acting in any meaningful way because of the opposing intents of the two shards that he holds. Can anyone think of any way that one of those two shards could be weakened in some way? Maybe a certain geographic area that tends to siphon off godlike power?

I don't know about 27...but it seems like we are all having fun upvoting each other...so here ya go...panda gets an upvote because it's trendy... I'm always a fan of puns...but puns involving feces are always the best...justice gets an upvote for crappiness...

I'm saying...the theoretical intent of the non-existent 17th shard (or of the organization...I'm still slightly unsure of what we are discussing) would have to be hoidhunter...by the way...I hunt Hoid.

We aim to please...Dent gets an upvote for enthusiasm...

I have to agree with Dent...Arthur Dent...only on the bases that as all shards were at one time combined in Adonalsuim...they are "compatible" (meaning that when Preservation and Ruin combined it produced Harmony...not a cataclysmic explosion)...but you really would have to be careful about blending different intents. I also agree with Moogle when he points out that all of this is just conjecture...we really won't know what is going to happen until Brandon writes it. However, I really like how you guys just agreed to disagree instead of arguing or making snarky remarks. Upvote to both of you for respecting the opinions of your peers...
-
No offense...but I think what you have done is started a thread for the worst suggestions of what is going on in the cosmere based on anagrams of adonalsium... Animal do us...I'd rather not elaborate on that one... I Sound Lama...Brandon might like that one...turns out that adonalsium IS ACTUALLY a mistborn Lama that created the universe... A Loud Man Is...ADONALSIUM...it's just some guy shouting...the opposing force is his neighbor who is trying to sleep...

So, I just finished my reread of the Mistborn trilogy. Specifically, I just finished Hero of Ages, and I found a quote that struck me. It's from page 660 in the mass market paperback edition. I've included the quote with a little around it for context here: (Hero of Ages spoiler as well...) Spoiler [Emphasis added] The phrasing is so unusual and interesting, I can't but help think it's got to have something to do with the title of the upcoming book. Has anyone noticed or speculated about this before? -This was posted in a different thread by megladon... I think it is likely that "shadows (plural) of self" is going to involve a few different slivers of infiniti...is it possible that Ruin left behind some kind of present for us?
