  1. By the way...while I have already addressed dating and dancing(as well as running) storing weight+ tapping speed +squirrel suit + large caliber pistol = flight. And do I really have to address the picking up keys thing? I guess I can say that feruchemy helps you bend over or reach out your arm...but it would be a lie.
  2. Exactly. Bear in mind the question is...which would be more useful in every day life.Ooklalhoo gets up points for sticking to topic.
  3. While I used the phrase lightspeed more as an exaggeration...I have to argue that compounding simply gives you a wealth of one particular stored attribute to use. It in no way increased the rate at which the attribute CAN be used. Feruchemy already allows the user to tap speed at whatever rate they care to use it. ie 2x speed for an hour...4x speed for 30min...8x speed for 15min...16x speed for 7.5 min...32x speed for 3.75 min...64x speed for 1.875 min...128x speed for 0.9375 min...and so on. It's actually one of the things that makes me lean more towards Feruchemy...example: burning pewter has a limit to how strong it can make you...but when taping pewter...you can really become as strong as you want...your stored strength will just run out faster if you use more of it. Or am I wrong? By the way Voidus...thank you for participating in my thread.
  4. If only sith lightening were red (ie stormform) instead of blue... Stormtrooper = lifeless army yoda= atium compounder (he is so old he actually vanished when it ran out!) Obiwan = shade (a very polite shade)
  5. Steel pushing and Iron pulling are the 2 things that really put me on the fence...I just don't think that they are worth it when all things are considered. And I counter your Brass/Zinc = dating made easy with Duralumin = connection, Atium = youth, pewter = physique (gold could also be used to get rid of any std's) Also...allomancy does not allow for the incredible speeds or the manipulation of weight that can be attained through feruchemy...can you say "light speed low gravity break dancing?"
  6. It would certainly help someone always be in the right place at the right time if they had already read the book that they're in...right? On a side note: While reading the dark tower by stephen king...I really enjoyed how much reality got intermingled with the story happening in the book. Upon reading this Hoid quote in stormlight...I starting hoping that the lines of story/real world would start to blur in the cosmere somehow. I'm also a little butt hurt at the "Hoid is not me." confirmation. That was a pet theory of mine as well and I was really hoping that I was onto something. Stupid established facts getting in the way of our wild conjecture. By the way...Paragrin gets and upvote for thinking like me...
  7. The guy who introduced me to mistborn and I have had long debates over which would be better to have...feruchemy or allomancy. He points out how much better allomancy is for combat...but I'm more inclined toward feruchemy. After all, how often do you end up fighting to the death in your every day life? So...Allomancy or Feruchemy and why? Feruchemy- - Storing nutrition + all you can eat buffet = never need to eat for weeks - storing breath + oxygen mask = being able to sprint for hours (without the nasty pewter drag) - storing/taping age = you can get into bars if you are too young...or...you can sleep with young women if you are too old - taping mental speed + taping memory = any university exam a breeze (storing strength might suck in many situations...but I spend a lot of time typing or holding a game control...I think I would have ample opportunity to build a stockpile of strength) I can think of many more...but I want to leave some for you.
  8. If you use cadmium to store breath while smoking pot...would you also store the buzz??? (this is actually not useless...I'm just curious)
  9. I read mistborn first and was excited to read several other sanderson books after. When I finished wok I decided to go back and reread mistborn. I first noticed that something weird happens with Vin and an informant named hoid. I had already noticed obvious similarities between some of the books but just chalked it up to sanderson being formulaic. After noticing hoid I thought that there may be more to it and decided to investigate online. After a little reading on coppermind and 17th shard...I developed a lot more respect for Brandon 's writing ability. I've since reread all of the consumers books looking for...well...you know.
  10. Using Feruchemy to store age in order to go as old you for Halloween party. Edit: Awaken a fried chicken with command "feed yourself to me." Edit2: Constantly draw in stormlight to stay cool in hot weather. (It frosts your skin) Edit3: Use lightweaving to make the illusion of a bench in a park. Then watch people fall down when they try to sit. Create a lifeless goldfish so you never need to replace it. If you are bald...shave someone else's head and awaken their hair with the command...become my hair.
  11. Life on all planets used to be EarthLink...or all life came from a planet that was EarthLink...the the shattering happened...over time...each planet's ecosystem became bizarre depending upon the shard that lives there...and or...some planets were strange paradoxes that humanity settled upon.
  12. "If've built up all this expectation with Adonalsium...now how do I keep the fans happy?"
  13. Do you guys think brandon skims the fan pages looking for inspiration? Like some of his ideas may not be concrete yet but he changes the story according to what posters like us say?
  14. I have a lot of theories about hoid. (As I'm sure we all do) I guess if your asking WHO he is...I would ...NOT Hoid...he comes right out and says that Hoid is not his real name...just the name of someone he should have loved. I take from this that "Hoid" is doing all of this in the name of someone he lost. AND...that Hoid as we know him...May not be who the 17 th shard thinks he is. Vague I know...but it's all I have right now
  15. I've mentioned this in other threads...but there is a minor character in Final Empire named Felt who is a spy. There is a minor character in Word of Radiance name Felt who is a scout. I'm not sure if this is important or not but....Easter Egg?
  16. While I appreciate the vote of confidence for finding something neat...I don't think that Felt would be the world hopping Kandra...because Felt's first appearance in is the Final Empire. I do still think that Felt is a world hopper of some king though...
  17. Stupid confirmed facts...always messing up my wild conjecture...
  18. I have no firm evidence to support this...but I kindof hope that earth from steelheart ends up being a cosmere coreworld. You have to admit that there are some similarities to earth amongst the coreworlds. 1. Calamity (it sounds like a shard of infinity) ever since it showed up...only certain people...have started displaying supernatural powers. 2. All of the cosmere worlds have some earthlike animals...horses...chickens...HUMANS...and some of them have legeds and far distant histories about rabbits (Hoid briefly mentions rabbits to Shallan and Vin mentions artistic depictions of rabbits in a lords keep) and other earthlike life. 3. On Scadrial...knowledge of things like gunpowder...steam engines...and other technology was known...but suppressed by the lord ruler for a very...very long time. 4. The title of steelheart book 3 is calamity...possibly because this is where the big reveal of calamity as a shard happens? Maybe...in all of the known cosmere worlds we have seen so far...the shattering of Adonalsium and the resulting shards taking up residence there...was something that happened a long time ago...but in the steelheart series...this is something that JUST happened. Sanderson gives us little hints that suggest that each of the cosmere worlds used to be earthlike a long time ago...giving them ample time to become these strange alien terrains as a result of the supernatural forces acting upon them over epochs...but Dave from earth is living through the first days of living on a world with a shard..........................????????????????????????????????? Feel free to argue................
  19. Have any of you considered that Hoid May...BE...Brandon sanderson? Simply the guy that knows everything and is trying to make sure that all the stories progress like they are suppose too?
  20. Who's more dangerous..an MMA fighter...or Vladimir Putin? One of them can obviously kill you...the other is playing a whole different game...and can still kill you....... Not to be vague...but TLR is dead...and hoid Isn't...sooo....I'd say that hoid already won this fight...
  21. I am reading all of the consmere books for the third time through ...looking for hoid...and I may be prone to seeing him where he isn't. However, brandon likes to use hoid as a kind of dues ex machina. (I secretly suspect that hoid IS brandon sanderson) ie I began life as thought, a concept, words on a page. But...that doesn't mean that I am right. Hoid is a story teller... who is described loosely as Mr. Sanderson looks...he always seems to be one step ahead of what the characters and readers know...and he is always in the right place at the right time to make sure that the significant characters make the right decisions. He is present in every cosmere book...and is the pebble that begins an avalanche in all of them. What character is more likely to have the whole playbook than the author?
  22. At the time this happened...Vin was had a hemo spike and was henceforth being influenced by Ruin. Many of her gut feelings ("I need to find that Atium.") were the result of Ruin's manipulation. Is it possible that Ruin himself did not want Vin speaking with Hoid?
  23. Hey...I'm new to all of this fanpage stuff but have been reading Sanderson for quite some time now. I think I may have found another appearance of Hoid that dosen't seem to be noted in the coppermind...but maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions. Please tell me what you think. Felt is a skaa spy from Urteau, Scadrial. He is described as lithe and short with a hawkish face and a drooping moustache.[1] He is one of the main spies for House Venture. He spies on Kelsier's crew's hideout and reports to Elend that they are a skaa thieving crew.[1] Elend employs him again as a spy to monitor the river entrances to Luthadel during the siege.[2] -additionally...he is referred to a few other times later in the mistborn story as someone who is not present but involved...and is away doing "spy stuff." -Felt is also the name of one of the scouts working for Dalinar Kholin's army when marching toward the center of the shattered plains. While not specifically named...one of those scouts comes into the scholar's tent and gives Shallan the hint she needs in order to locate the "Oathgate." I'm not 100% but I think that "Felt" may be another one of Hoid's Pseudonyms...What do you guys think?
