  1. Lifeless armies could improve just about any industry just by providing free labor if Nalthians actually used them instead of keeping them in the dark (literally and figuratively) But overall, I agree, there seems to be more interesting uses for Scadrial magic/tech hybrids.
  2. Personally, I'd rather become a Drab than a victim of creating a hemalurgic spike, or powering a Dahkor spell.
  3. @StrikerEZ Congrats!!! You just finished a marathon. I remember being annoyed when Androl was introduced and got more screen time. I thought, No, we don't need any more characters to follow. But yes, he's one of my favorites now. I'm so glad Brandon got to write those 3 books. He knows how to finish on a high note.
  4. @Pathfinder I think the Herald's return before the Fused. We know Taln showed up at the end of WoK when he broke for 4k plus years of torture. As far as we know, there weren't any Fused around until after the Everstorm. Also, when Taln comes back he talks about preparing people, about the different skills the other Heralds would teach them to get ready for the war. I was always under the impression that the humans got at least a little head start before the Desolation actually began.
  5. Nice! It's not too hard to notice a difference between Brandon's writing, but he did blend it pretty well with Jordan's. The last 3 are big books, but they went faster for me than the others.
  6. It would broadcast Michael Jackson's Thriller into everyone's brains within a 3 mile radius and force them to dance along.
  7. Oops. You are right, I got mixed up completely.
  8. I agree, but I wonder how having avatars all over the Cosmere would play into a fight. I have the thought that they act like Horcruxes. If Odium is able to find one and kill/shatter it, the rest of the avatars will still be around and Edgli will be hurt but not killed/shattered. That could be part of why she isn't concerned.
  9. Isn't that what Parshmen are fo..........oh wait.....We might get more insight of lighteyes learning other tasks that the Listeners used to do, like child-rearing.
  10. There's always another secret.
  11. Not that I think Roshar will be destroyed, but I think the only people around that have any type of memory or knowledge of Ashyn's destruction are mad, working for Odium, or both. Maybe the Shin have passed on that knowledge, along with the Honorblades, but would the rest of Roshar listen to them?
  12. But Dalinar was able to use the Stormfather as a shard enough at least to use the portal. Also, sometimes it seems that when the word 'shard' is used it can refer to the blade and not the plate. I can't point to a specific time off the top of my head, just an impression I have gotten. I think Dalinar could still get Radiant plate.
  13. Order - Attributes - Thoughts Windrunner - Protecting/Leading - Kel fits both of these attributes very well. He is a natural-born leader and is driven, in part, to protect the skaa. (More driven by vengeance and other motives though) Skybreakers - Just/Confident - Kel is incredibly confident. I'm not so sure about Just. He is able to convince people that he is, but he seems inconsistent in his applicaiton of justice. Dustbringer - Brave/Obedient - He is very brave, one of the bravest characters in the Cosmere. Going toe to toe with TLR knowing he would die. Obedient....not so much. We don't have much insight how obedience plays into a dustbringer's selection or nahel bond, but it's hard to picture Kel obeying anyone without it being a con. Note, power's wise, this is arguably the best to fit his personality. Edgedancer - Loving/Healing - Kel could love, but it seemed very limited, especially after Mare died. And he never seemed interested in healing. Truthwatcher - Learned/Giving - Kel was great at studying what he wanted to. He did a lot of research to learn about the 11th metal. But he isn't really the giving type, at least without expecting something in return. Lightweaver - Creative/Honest - He is very creative. He can see how things work and how to use them. He does struggle with honesty, but our main lightweaver also struggles, maybe even more than Kel would. This seems a good choice, based on the key attributes and the example we have in SA. Elsecaller - Wise/Careful - Kel is clever, smart, and knowledgeable, but I'm not sure if wise would be a good description of him. He doesn't seem the kind of guy I'd approach for advice. And careful........in a way, he could be considered careful. He is a great planner and takes great care in his plans. But he can also be very reckless. Willshaper - Resolute/Builder - Resolute is a good description of Kel. He is determined and unwavering in his planning, relationships, and actions. He is not a great builder, and he realizes this. That's why Dox and others were in his crew. Stoneward - Dependable/Resourceful - Kel is very loyal to his crew and to those who depend on him. And he is incredibly resourceful. I think there is a strong argument that based on attributes, Kel would attact the spren (we don't have a name or type yet for Stonewards spren, do we?) for this order. Bondsmith - Pious/Guiding - I first laughed out loud thinking of Kel as pious. But then I thought, how can a man be more devoutly religious than becoming a god? hmmm....As for guiding, Kel was a great teacher to Vin, but it seemed he didn't spend much time with the rest of the crew. Maybe he did more of it as the Sovereign. This has a high likelihood than some other orders, but it's hard for me to imagine. So, based on this, I'd think the likely order would be Stoneward, Lightweaver, Windrunner, Dustbringer, Skybreaker, Bondsmith, Willshaper, Truthwatcher, Elsecaller, Edgedancer.
  14. This WoB (there are others but this was the first I found) eneral Reddit 2013 (March 11, 2013)
  15. There's all kinds of reasons it could. I personally think that Yesteel was somehow able to divide Vasher and Vivenna. Vasher left Nalthis with Nightblood and Vivenna stayed to clean something up. Or something happened in the Cognative Realm and they got separated. However it happened, Vivenna now feels responsible for Nightblood and any destruction he causes.
  16. The way I read Ico's quote is that it's foreign technology that attracts the wrong spren. My guess it has to do with mixing Shards.
  17. @LerasiumMistborn I suggest waiting and reading the next two books. You are spending way too much mental and emotional energy on worrying about stuff that hasn't been written yet. It will be all right, whatever the outcome. It won't be perfect, and there will be plenty of people who will be disappointed with different, or even opposing, aspects of the books. But Brandon has developed a reputation of master storyteller for a reason (or lots of reasons). Remember, the next step is the most important a man can make. I do wish you the best.
  18. I didn't feel the tone that Dalinar won't be in 6-10. I just think that Brandon has 1-5 more fleshed out in his mind. Dalinar was supposed to be book 5 originally, right? It makes sense that he'd still have an important role in that book, if not OB level word count.
  19. Given that she just got married to Dalinar, I don't ship Navani with anyone else.........oh wait, wrong ship, sorry. I think we'll see more technology develop on all planets and there will be some parallels, but not necessarily relationships.
  20. My least favorite thing in SA so far was Kaladin's homecoming arc and being 'captured' by Parshendi in OB. The whole thing seemed like it could have been cut by 75% without losing anything important. When they were being released weekly, I'd get excited for his chapters and then disappointed, over and over.
  21. I can't remember any time it mentions that Pattern is in the middle of the air. I think it always describes him on or moving over surfaces. But I was saying that mostly tongue in cheek, because like @CrazyRioter said, lots of types of spren fly. I didn't mean for it to be real proof that Syl has gravitation surge.
  22. Just about every time we see Syl, she's using Gravitation. She flies!
  23. I've read the quote over and over. And I can see it both ways. The "extra killed" seems pretty definitive. But, saying that his soul is trapped means that it hasn't gone Beyond. And that seems to imply that if it can be released, we could see Jezrien again. Whichever it is, I'm sure Brandon will provide a good explanation when it's necessary.
  24. I'm re-reading WoKs now. I just got to Chapter 12. It's when we are introduced to Dalinar. The title of the chapter? Unity Edit: I just finished the chapter when Kal is left out in the highstorm. At one point he notices I wonder if that's what gave Kal the inspiration for blocking the storm in OB, or if it was Brandon's way of foreshadowing that scene, or both.
  25. I don't think he became the best dueler in the country and probably the 'world' by being lazy. He works hard at what he cares about. He worked hard in his courtship with Shallan. He just needed the right incentive. He takes responsibility when he needs to. The Kholin soldiers all look up to him. He is just as comfortable talking to common soldiers as he is with highprinces. I liked seeing the internal struggle he goes through when he thought his dad might be insane. I think he had legitimate concerns, but he also tried hard to push aside his cultural and religious biases to support his father.
