I believe she says anyone can be a forger as long as they are from the area and put in the effort to learn in. I wonder if there is a bit of a gradient where some magics are closer to devotion and require more "devotion to learning" while others are more of dominion and require you to be chosen into being a part of "a part of that dominion" like being chosen as an Elarntian.

Well it didnt matter as Rabonial had already passed the information on to Kolinar. -
Navani: where does she go from here?

You didn't feel anxious? I was so happy she was thriving, but I was also so tressed that she was handing the enemy all of her knowledge so quickly. -
Navani: where does she go from here?
teknopathetic replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Stormlight Archive
My point here is that Navani made anti-light with no real plan of how to get it to her people. The most likely thing that was going to happen was that Rabonial would shut Navani up somehow after the discovery was made. Navani was close to figuring it out for a long time. Heck, Navani is the only one who knew for sure that the light was possible and what it might do (explosion). She could have carried water and held on to her ideas and tested them later with another Singer, but she didn't. She didn't care what happened to the knowledge but instead was obsessed (literally) with getting to the answer as soon as possible. And on a deeper level, she was obsessed with getting the approval of a true scholar despite what that might do to Navani's people. I was screaming at Navani during this section of the book because I couldn't believe how unbelievably reckless she was being ESPECIALLY after being tricked by Rabonial so many times in a row. Navani knows this light is the thing Rabonial wants to end the war, so I just couldn't support Navani moving ahead with it. In most rolls of the dice the humans never hear of Navani's discovery. Navani was tempted to create anti-light even though she knew there was a 100% chance the Fused would keep the knowledge while there was a 5% chance the humans would somehow retake the tower AND have Navani be able to share the secret. It is a fluke the humans kept the knowledge as well. Navani was extremely foolish. Maybe fortune helped her out, but damn Navani, you could have just waited.... -
Navani: where does she go from here?

I mean, maybe letting the Fused win would have been better than unleashing what Navani gave the enemy. And also, Navani retaking the tower was in no way a sure thing. Heck, it was damn near impossible. The most likely outcome was that Navani gives that weapon to Rabonial, the humans lose the tower, and the great Spren genocide occurs. Navani saved the tower, but that was damn near a fluke. I dont think her collaborating with the enemy is forgiven because very unlikely pieces managed to come together. What do you think the Spren reaction will be when they realize Navani gave the enemy this technology AND that she wasn't forced to do any of it? She did it because she wanted Rabonial's approval as a scholar... I am happy for Navani, but I won't lie and say I think she did the right thing for the Cosmere. -

Rhythm of War Online Release Party 11/17/20
teknopathetic replied to JoyBlu's topic in Events and Signings
Could be possible humans start to speak to Rhythms on the planet as well. -
It is likely someone we have not seen before, but will meet later and will go OOOOOOOH. I really think this is a breadcrumb for something in the future.

Navani: where does she go from here?
teknopathetic replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Stormlight Archive
Navani wanted to show off to Robonial and she gave Rabonial exactly what Rabonial wanted. I think Navani fullwell knew whatever this anti-light was would be an absolute disaster, but she wanted to prove herself; to me, that is a weakness. -
Navani: where does she go from here?
teknopathetic replied to Necessary Eagle's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Navani's new flaw is that she does not think about the consequences of her actions and that she cant foresee the harm that she will cause. Navani discovered something amazing, but it may be the invention that causes the most pain in the history of the Cosmere. If she had taken time to think, she may have been less willing to unleash it. -
It is pretty moot to argue about how the Testament blade will work as we have never before seen a deadeye blade wielded by their original radiant.

What was Renarin trying to get T to do?
teknopathetic replied to StormingTexan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I thought the note just meant "I am sorry you chose the way you did". Maybe if T took Renarin's hand he would have been purified similar to what Renarin did in part 1 with Moash and Khaladin. -
It is also weird to consider why he broke (if he did). What changed after 4000 years? What could have been the thing Odium used?

Your comment makes me think how strange it is that breath can be used to store memories (confirmed in RoW) but that Returned do not have any memories at all (minus flashes).... I wonder if breath can be used to endow people with memories or experiences or if those memories are by default locked similar to feruchemy. Wouldn't society be hugely effected if you could leave an endowment gift of all your surgical skills to one of your students....

The entire speech was "making people think you have lived a thousand years" which is all about the deception of presenting one's experiences as true when they are not; this really makes me think Hoid was leaking bad intel to the enemy. Now whether or not he knew it was Tod is in question, but my gut says yes. Hoid's power is to be where he needs to be, and I think that pushed the question of "did he know" over to the Yes side of the line. Hold is old, has a lot of magic, and is friends with at least one Shard. I think it is likely he found out in some way even if he heard what happened with the body Szeth found (he know what Nightblood should have done and would be suspicious of what had occurred) I don't for a second believe Hoid would not realize his lack of perfect pitch, so I am convinced he played dumb to not risk more occurring. I agree with other that the coin might have been a metal mind, and that he used that to store memory and do some investigating. It would be hilarious if there was a way of storing untrue memories (especially if one was a good story teller).

It would be interesting if the shard of bonds tended to reform those bonds on its own. -
Kholin something?

I don't think CUltivation and Wit are friends so I don't think she would tell him much.

Contest of Champions Predictions [RoW Spoilers]
teknopathetic replied to Crossen's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odium somehow gets Hoid to be the champion for either side. Hoid cannot kill nor can he be killed therefor we get a draw. -
I am beginning to think it is Odium and Cultivation teamed up.

Capricious and whimsy are quite different in connotation. Capricious means change with little reason and is change that is "sudden, moody, or unaccountable". Capricious is more like "moody". A change in caprice can be any mood, but usually means sudden changed to the negative or a change against a plan of action to solve a problem. Whimsy means change for pleasure or enjoyment. There is a reason and that reason is joy or adventure or to do something spontaneous. Whimsy cannot be any mood, but usually means a sudden change to the fun or fanciful. Whimsey is much more positive in connotation than being capricious. To be blunt, a capricious person would be a bit of a ****, while a whimsical person would be prone to getting lost in their own head. .

Who accepted Kaladin 4th ideal
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Cosmere Discussion
EDIT FOR CLARITY: The issue is Michael Kramer reads the only chapters where we see Cultivation/Nightwatcher speak while Kate Reading does the Venli chapters.I don't have a Cultivation Voice as done by Kate Reading to utilize in comparison with the oath voice. As for the Nightwatcher, it is possible Kate Reading did something waaay different than Michael Kramer, but the Nightwatcher was so stylized that I doubt Kate would have read her as normal human in voice (think Mileena from Mortal Kombat 11) It could be Cultivation, but I don't have anything to compare it to as Kate has never read for her on screen. It is also possible this voice is the a more invigorated Sibling (but that isnt clear either). I don't think we can really know.- 39 replies
