Who accepted Kaladin 4th ideal
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hmm. Unclear actually. It sounds like it could be the Sibling but it is more feminine ... so maybe? It is sort of in the middle weirdly. Disregard my certainty.- 39 replies

There is a not too uncommon theory floating around that Cultivation helped kill Honour so she could use him for Mulch; now though I wonder if she killed him because she wanted herself and Odium to start a war elsewhere....

Nickle plus Silver Alloy and the Dagger
teknopathetic replied to teknopathetic's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It reminds me of the fact humans were lying about the metals or painting them to trick people, so maybe Odium/Robinial had similar inclinations. Another possibility mentioned in the other thread is that it is SIlver + Nickel + something else in a small quantity, but that is not what she said so we cant really know. -
In the translated notations from the image The Dagger, we get a curious statement. SHout out to Oltux72 for their help discussing this, (middle, below the dagger hilt) The ruby is housed in a metal other than raysium, silver maybe? I can confirm the metal is not raysium, but a silver- nickel alloy and does not affect the dagger's function. ------ Note: There is a real metal called Nickle Sllver, but it is not an alloy of Nickle + Silver Nickle and Silver do not alloy well or at all, and after some research and some discussion on another thread it was determined this is a very strange alloy to use (especially if it is decorative only), Additionally, if we consider what we know about pure silver and shades, one would think there is more going on here than meets the eye. We should be exceptionally suspicious of silver alloys and cognitive-shadow weapons based on what we know.... Honestly, I think this is a bold-faced lie on the part of Rabonial (or perhaps she had been lied to as well considering the item's power). As these two metals do not alloy naturally, there must be a reason for the usage. --- I have included the entire translation at the end of this post Note that the finer lines here are Navani's, while the darker, cruder ones are Raboniel's] (top left) Raboniel's soul harvesting dagger (top right) The white-gold metal vein down the middle conducts Investiture. Raboniel calls the metal raysium and says there is not enough in this dagger to collect her soul or what of a Herald. I am not sure I believe her. Navani is right not to believe. I have given her few reasons to trust me, after all, but in this thing I do not lie. Why give into my enemy's hands the means to destroy me? (middle, above the dagger hilt) I will proceed with my experiments. Our discovery of Warlight paired with my eventual understanding of this dagger might yield a way to stop this war. Though I think we disagree on what an acceptable end to the war actually looks like. (middle, below the dagger hilt) The ruby is housed in a metal other than raysium, silver maybe? I can confirm the metal is not raysium, but a silver- nickel alloy and does not affect the dagger's function. (bottom left) I suspect the vein of raysium continues through the dagger's hilt and somehow attaches to the ruby at its base. The raysium vein is removable, reversible, and conducts Investiture directly to the gemstone. (bottom right) Touching the dagger to half of the ruby does not pull out the half spren. Cracking one half however, allows the spren to escape. The dagger immediately pulls the spren along the raysium vein and into the gem at its base.

Do you think this is something we were supposed to figure out or that is a mistake Brandon made? I really think this is proof of a new alloy unique to Threnody or Threnody's magic system! This is a very weird combination of metals to even my layman's eyes, so I think we were supposed to notice it. We also get a mention of a silver chain that can bind down souls, so there may be a lot one can do with silver. EDIT: I moved this discussion over to ROW Magic and Lore

I found the same general information too. Silver + Nickel appears to almost never used, so why did the Songers use it? It seems other metals are much more stable Option 1: Rabonial is lying or did not know. Option 2: They deliberately chose a metal that would degrade over time so that a captured artifact would stop working when the Nickle denatures.

What is Nickle and silver together? I’ve never heard of that (and no it Isn’t Nickle Silver). And it doesn’t do anything? Just decorative? I’m confused and very suspicious.

Those terms for pure tonal light are fossilized now. However, "Towerlight," like War Light, is newer and could follow different naming conventions. Towerlight is not something that has to stick considering we now know its tone and meaning are derived from science and collaboration.

rhythm of war Cultivation Possibilities
teknopathetic replied to albenraph's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We keep hearing "Shards cant see the hearts of men", so I lean towards Cultivation making a mistake here. However, I would prefer if Cultivation is just as worried about the Galaxy War, and she decided she needed a new partner to help her. Maybe she hoped Tod would protect Karbrandth and therefor the world. But honestly I think she just made a whoopsie poopsie and in the future Roshar will be evil. -
Tower Light light isnt of the Tower so much as it is made by the tower. Could we rename Tower Light as Science Light? Navani calls it Science when she melds the tones, so that does seem valid. We could even say Discovery light or something.. Tower light is not not very ... descriptive. If the tower fell, that light could still exist, you know?

She was aware of Realms, but I don't think she knew of other planets yet.

We know that Odium went to Sel and then Ashyn and then Roshar. It has got me wondering if any Selish magic (or lore) may have travelled with Odium and his followers to the Rosharan system?
-
We all hate him so much (and not just because of what he has done, but because he is boring). Why is he still in the story? Is he Odium's champion? Does he do something? Why couldn't Navani have killed him And now he is blind? This better not be a Spook thing AND HE BETTER NOT HAVE WAR LIGHT POWERS due to exposure.

So how did they solve the problem of getting Radiants off world? We have multiple WOBs saying a Radiant would eventually be pulled to much if they went too far on the physical and/or cognitive realms. We also know through WOB that spren in gems would also be pulled in the same way. My weird idea? Roshar is gone and whatever gods remain are in space now.

Is Teravangion Boon Curse still active
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
I didn't so much mean deontology vs utilitarianism, but more should he protect the few if it is likely or attempt to protect everyone if it is unlikely. I think he struggled with if he had done enough, and that was what I was interested in with him. This same choice was made by Dalinar in the end, and oddly he didnt care at all about the distinction. But to me, the how much is worth what he did was the interesting choice, and he had to striggle with himself to risk doing more; to me, that risking in the end was honourable. -
So why was Rayse rejected by his power?
teknopathetic replied to megafox's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wonder if his constant failures were causing him to leak power, or if leaking power was causing him to constantly fail. -
Part of me was wondering if she was going to bond a Chasmfield despite the WOBS we have, but I am glad that didn't happen. Though, I still am curious what happened there with the two times we see helpful/non-aggressive Chasmfiends and the Listeners.

When I think of Mercy, I think of Mercy Kill. Maybe Mercy is the God of smothering people with pillows in the night? We know Ambition died elsewhere, so maybe Mercy followed her and then injected anti-ambition eventually when things got too grim

Shards composition (Dawnshard spoilers)
teknopathetic replied to 2xMachina's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I am not convinced create and change are different enough. Mine are kind of like: CHANGE: Ruin, Endowment, Cultivation, Invention BOND/UNITE: Honour, Preservation, Dominion, ______. (maybe something cultural like Society/Community?) ACT: Autonomy, Valor, Ambition, Whimsy FEEL: Odium, Mercy, Devotion, Sorrow (semi maybe is confirmed kinda not ish) *All investiture becomes aware if there is enough of it and it has enough time, so i think feel/think make sense as fundamental things. ---- Although, Whimsy could be change depending on what you mean. You could mean whimsy as fun, or you could mean whimsy as changing a lot. I dont agree with the men on shard cast that Whimsy should be looked at like changing a lot though. I think Whimsy means more like having fun and not being bogged down my pressures. The men really got stuck on whim, which is not the same as whimsy in terms of connotation. I think Feather was more right for sure. Though it is possible that Endowment and Whimsy are swapped on this list. Other possible shards from WOB: Sorrow, Wisdom, Ingenuity, -

It turns out breath can be used to store memories and get around the memory-leakage problem. I wonder who else knows this and if it will become relevant? Could Breath be used to cure the heralds since it has helped Hoid not go bonker-balls?
