  1. From what I can gather, Tzai Blows are apart of microkenesis.
  2. I think you are a bit too all in on EVERYTHING being self aware in the cognitive realm. Brandon has said that it the gaps between inhabited shardworlds in the cognitive realm are basically non-existent, and that the space and matter present between the shardworlds in the physical realm do not manifest, as no one has thought of them. This being the case suggests that not everything has an inherent cognitive presence, and definitely not enough of one to actively affect other cognitive entities. It may be that all things in the Cosmere have some cognitive presence (although it would have to be the cognitive equivalent of microscopic), and that they are all alive, but even if this correct, I think you are overestimating the amount of sentience that these entities would possess. There is simply no way that a satchel would be able to know what it contained, or even have the sentience to perceive what is around it, on its own. My theory is that changing something's perception of what it is is causationally related to how invested it is, as well as how invested you are. I think that normal every day thinking and perception uses some kind of cognitive substance or energy we don't know about yet to slowly match something's Cognitive self to your perception of it. In an old archived forum post about Liars of Partinel I managed to find, Brandon goes on a tangent about how the book relates to Dragonsteel and mentions that Realmatic theory, the Dragonsteel magic system called microkenesis, and something called Cognitive Ripples would all still be canon. I think that the Cognitive ripples he mentions are this energy that thoughts and perceptions manifest as, and that the more sentient a being is, the more powerful its ripples/influence. One thing that I think is an example of this is the waves of influence that Kelsier sees Ruin emitting while he is trapped inside of the Well. Kelsier rides these waves and observes that Ruin is using them to manipulate and influence different things. Something else to note, there is a tangible difference in the effects of thinking things and knowing things in the Cognitive Realm. In the interlude that features the ardent scholars we learn that actually measuring things out and knowing something for certain has a very powerful effect on Cognitive entities. In that example, we see that a flame Spren's height stops changing if it is measure, and gets locked into the measured shape. Now to answer the questions with my personal theories: 1. I'm not sure, but I think that the Stick would remain whatever it was thought of as by Shallan. It would remain locked in that form under the same principles that locked the flame Spren into its measured height. 2. I don't think that a monster would be present under the bed in the Cognitive realm. You do not know that there is a monster so one does not form. I do think that there is something more to this, however, and that it relates to the nature of Spren. 3. I think that your assumption that the tree is still standing is outweighed by the creatures living in and seeing the tree knowing that it has toppled. Also keep in mind that the tree itself is probably more self aware than an inanimate object because it is alive, so it probabaly recognizes on some level that it has toppled. 4. Again, that one person's factual knowledge that the cake is gone most likely outweighs people's false assumptions that it is still there.
  3. Arcanist basically equals scientist in the Cosmere. I think she would definitely be interested in the kind of scientific advances we have made, who wouldn't be if they hadn't been exposed to modern sciences.
  4. People say that that is Eshonai and Dalinar, but im pretty sure thats the scene when Dalinar saves Kaladin and hus bridge crew from a group of parshendi archers. Eshonai does not use a spear and while Kaladin didnt have one here it makes more sense that its him.
  5. He wasn't saying it was the same skill, just that the theory had merit because we have already seen a similar mechanic.
  6. 1. My point is that they would be put back into a grossly malfunctioning body, as whatever killed them wouldn't have been healed. 2. Yes, but the returned forget everything. Elantrians remember their pasts, so it doesn't make sense to me that they would forget their time in the Cognitive Realm.
  7. If this is the case, then zombie Elantrians would have been debilitated by whatever killed them... Also, they seem to have their memories, i find it unlikely that they wouldnt remember being in the Cognitive realm or that that specific memory would have been erased. It just seems increasingly unlikely to me as i think about it.
  8. Brandon recently said that Hoid did it because it revealed something Kelsier didnt want known (they dislike eachother as we know, doesnt necessarily advance Hoids goals). We dont really know what Hoids goals are, and we know even less about Trell.
  9. In all the cases we have seen Cognitive shadows the being had to die first, so I dont think I buy that a living being would suddenly be transformed into a shadow.
  10. I think they are saying it is weird for Radiants to bring their Spren to other planets via actual space travel because of the weird Cognitive realm physics.
  11. Does anyone have the reading audio? I've been dying to listen, and this is the last stop in the tour.
  12. 4. The mistborn use metals to access Preservation's investiture and use that, they are not the investiture being used. 5. The investiture used in sandmastery is inside tiny microbes on the sand that get it from the sun. Giving water to these microbes causes a reaction that uses the investiture. So the water isnt investiture.
  13. I don't think we know this whatsoever. Khriss' story is set very early in the Cosmere so it wouldn't be earth-shattering if she had worldhopped before Silverlight came to be.
  14. Nice work getting the audio! When I tried listening the voices are very inaudible, is anyone else having this problem?
  15. I remember a WoB with similar wording, but it doesn't say that it was because of the amount of random investiture present, do you have a link?
  16. We actually have WoB about the colors of shards. We recently got confirmation (cant find source again, im sure it'll be up on theoryland soon) that red is not an Odium specific color, and preservation and ruin's colors are extentions of how they viewed their polarized relationship over time. Source for the preservation/ruin WoB
  17. Possible, but im not sure I'd like this. If Helaran is alive it will be the third time that a character thought to be dead was brought back.
  18. "Very reasonably". I was trying to convey that it is possible, but not nearly as likely as someone harboring the ideals of two orders.
  19. We still don't know if Stormlight is Adonalsium's investiture, just that the Stormlight originally in the storms was. That could have changed.
  20. I don't really remember anyone asking questions about Ym until recently, although he has been a topic since the book came out. Brandon often keeps us guessing if he thinks his answer would kill interesting community discussion.
  21. I think this is where the metaphor fails. One cannot maintain a proffesional skill level at two sports very reasonably, but there is no reason to believe that it is so rare for someone to harbor ideals of two orders reasonably.
  22. You're making several assumptions here. First, entire shards are not needed to form a perpendicularity in the first place. Brandon has said that anywhere with sufficient investiture (like first of the sun) can still have perpendicularities. Seeing as how there were already Spren on Roshar (which are sentient pieces of investiture) it isn't an unreasonable guess that there may have been enough to form a stable perpendicularity. Second, that all of Adonalsium's investiture is contained in the shards. We don't know if this is the case or not so it really doesn't stand against my theory. Third, that the shattering (which is what Odium has done to shards, just on a large scale) divested Adonalsium from Roshar. When Aons and Skai were shattered the investiture still formed a perpendicularity on the planet they were invested in, so I don't see why this would be any different.
