The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Can an Awakener invest more Breath into an object that they have already Awakened? -
It was only a semi-committal WoB. IIRC, Brandon included the words "I think" in his response, but either he implied(or we assumed that he implied) that Honor had memory of the Recreance so he could show it in one of Dalinar's visions. Edit, I found it now.

I like the idea, but I feel like the Lerasium content would affect the strength of the power, rather than do many different things. Creating various strength mistings of the same type, rather than boatloads of differing abilities also helps create smoother plot conflict. "Hire the strongest mistings for the job" is much simpler than trying to keep track of yet more abilities and combinations. It would make the WoB greatly less contradictory, but as Yata said, the base math still adds to 51. Perhaps Brandon uses "nearly" as a synonym to "roughly"..?
-
1) Possible, some have even made "connections" to seeing the future and the supposed visions the priests received during the Heirocracy 2) It could happen, but not having seen any of them Surgebind, and Nalan's policy on Surgebinders makes this debatable 3) I highly doubt it, but that depends on how much you trust Pattern. WoR Chapter 75 Highlight added. Pattern makes it sound like the Stormfather managed to survive a broken bond (perhaps on account of his "no shard" policy) Having his own trust be broken would certainly account for why he did not wish to bond again. Actually, now that I think about it, perhaps he survived because Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow merged with him afterwards..? As for Willshapers, we don't really know anything about them, so it may have been them. If only we knew why the Recreance happened..

Roshone The original problem was probably autocorrect if they made the post on mobile.
-
You could call it Determination, but Feruchemy takes offense to that so... But yea. I figured that someone would (not Breeze level) but at least have some practice to know related things to not sooth/riot before trying what I suggested. Plus rioting related emotions instead of just one would probably feel more natural to the person being rioted
-
Soothing all but what you want them to feel is basically Rioting what you want them to feel. Same goes for vise-versa. Only problem with that is there's probably limits on both ends. Can't go lower than a lack of emotion for Soothing, and I imagine a point where the mind cannot comprehend anything stronger for Rioting, but that's personal speculation

I feel like it's a slow death, reverting back into a mindless spren. Since she was revived much faster than after the Recreance, she was still mostly there. Granted, there should still be something lost either way, but I don't feel like Spren follow all the normal human rules of death. Edit: Semi Relevant WoB Breaking the connection in any way has some effect, so I imagine that Syl should show some effect of the oathbreaking

I want to argue this, but Brandon has been... contradictory at times about that subject. Source 1 and Source 2 Those 2 have confused me for so long, since he seemed so sure that there were more than 16 alloys each, yet later said there are nearly 50 Allomantic Metals. I've always heard "nearly" as almost/just under, so the math doesn't seem to fit.

theory Why Feruchemical aluminum medallions are impossible
The One Who Connects replied to Oversleep's topic in Mistborn
I have a semi-different view on it, which kinda (dis)agrees with both of you. How much you can store is limited by death, to put it bluntly. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a difference in the amount stored. Though I cannot find it at the moment, I remember hearing that a sick person could store less health than a healthy person. As such, a healthy person stores to the same mortality limit as a sick person, but the healthy person technically stored more. So for what you said Yata, since we have a fixed limit(death), how much you store should be viewed from a different angle. Not where you end, but where you start. A skinny and a heavy person both store 100% of their weight, and even though tapping it would have the same effects for each (doubling their weight), to the uninformed observer, such as a scale at the doctor's office, the heavier person stored a larger amount of weight. It's a largely convoluted explanation, but it's what I got while I'm still tired Skill differences probably could do the things you describe Cometary, but that treads the line towards Savant type of thinking rather than strength, so I wont go into it. Practice makes perfect should hold true even for magic. -
We know from Mistborn Secret History that there are only 16 Base Metals, because Regardless of what all gets argued/disproved beforehand, I would like to hear your opinion on what would be more simple. I understand this argument, but I will say that unless Brandon's done an off-the-record chat with someone, then nobody on this forum really know what Lerasium properly does, because making people Mistborn is a "side effect" of a stronger connection to Preservation. As for Harmonium, we have yet to hear either way if it is an alloy or a separate metal. Perhaps in the next Wax/Wayne book, we will know more

Nuclear Proliferation and Shardblades
The One Who Connects replied to Quiver's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I more meant it in the context of how we haven't seen/heard about something like a Shardbearer off Roshar -
Oh. Wrong vision then, my bad. However, I still don't know if you can make a Fabrial that attracts Stormlight, partly because of why Stormlight leaks to begin with and because magical forms of free energy always seem contrived. It is a clever idea though, so full marks for that

I believe that it specified as different claws, but that might have been when Dalinar was dodging the swipes. On that same subject, I feel like the swipes were too close together to be the same claw.

Upvote for creativity. I fully imagine that there are more types of Fabrials than the 3(5?) types we've seen, so there's all manner of things that could be done I really don't know how you could manage a railgun, but I'm thinking with pairing fabrials though. However it gets done, the repelling shield would probably work on the same principle, just with less launching force for safety reasons. Videochat with Illumination What pouch are you referring to? I only remember mention of a healing Fabrial in one of his visions, but my memory may be spotty

Nuclear Proliferation and Shardblades
The One Who Connects replied to Quiver's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is all true, but you can't exactly hide/sneak away in a set of Shardplate. There would almost definitely be stories about a great armored figure with an ethereal blade. Although, Plate with a more conventional weapon like Jakamav's Hammer and a Shardblade un-summoned for emergencies could spread misleading legends.. hmm Actually, we're both blind. The post you quoted was talking about Shardblades by themselves. -
Movie/TV Stormlight Archive
The One Who Connects replied to Chewbarker's topic in Stormlight Archive
The 5 seasons came from SnopyDogy's suggestion of a season per part. I phrased it as a question because I didn't know for sure. Apparently I'm wrong Personally, I blame the Hobbit being 3 movies and each LotR movie being 1 per book for that misconception. Here's a comparison between them and Mistborn TFE. Paperback versions for all of them here. Sorry, now I'm blabbering on.. maths and all that. back to what I was supposed to be replying to, um.. I agree that half-hour episodes is probably too short for something of this scale, I don't watch GoT either, so I wasn't aware of how decent of a comparison they were to SA in terms of something like this. The epilogues would be decent enough scenes to not be out of place when they happen. Alternate Gavilar Assassination Prologues... maybe as a bonus chapter when the season comes out on DVD/Netflix? -
Hoid's Lerasium and spiritwebs
The One Who Connects replied to Djarskublar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Given the time period of SA, he could have popped off and "acquired" a medallion or two from Scadrial. I haven't perused the books recently, but I don't recall any specific mention of medallions granting allomancy, or if they required ingesting metals like we assumed Hoid did on Roshar -
Raoden teleporting to Teod
The One Who Connects replied to Oversleep's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Relevant parts that got changed I mentioned in my earlier post, but i doubt I noticed everything. In all fairness, you may be right on this point. Drawing a line that "duplicated the boy's step" seems unreasonably large now that I think about it. I understand the logic behind this, but Raoden specifically takes a cloth and measures Aiden's step for his measurement of what equals a "step." I would support this idea if he hadn't done that in the new text though, as it's clever thinking -
Movie/TV Stormlight Archive
The One Who Connects replied to Chewbarker's topic in Stormlight Archive
The harry potter movies put together are 19 hours 40 minutes. People wanted to read them, people wanted to watch them, not many lost interest halfway through, etc.. it's not a perfect example, but it is an example This cant be helped with some people, regardless of movie series/genre. I would recommend reading the books beforehand, or at least the 1st one to see if it's the kind of thing you want to watch, but we all know how that goes I was going to argue this with a decent reason, but filming tech is always gonna get better as multiple movies are filmed. I can say that it is probably better to start drafting/filming after 7 or 8 have come out, so that some of those actually important side characters don't get cut from books 1-3. Gah, I'm quoting you left and right now Counting Interludes and everything, Book 1 had 87, book 2 had 105 (14 of which were interludes). That's rather a large season as you pointed out, but the post you quoted did say having a season be a Part. 5 Seasons per Book seems reasonable given their size right? Actually to both of you, the Parts are in no way the same length either. Does variable season length have a precedent anywhere in media? Now that I'm actually looking at the chapter stats, would you make the Epilogue part of final season or have it and next book's Prologue "fill the gap?" -
There's too many disparate things to quote for this one, so just take it as an alternate viewpoint on most everything Heralds and Stormlight - up till now, I imagined that they would need gems too.. now though, I'm not fully sure Radiants and Stormlight - popular theories have improved(but not perfect) Stormlight retention at higher Ideals. There's like 3 ideas floating around about how Shardplate "helps" as well somehow Good catch on the Ryshadium, I hadn't considered that. Given that Brandon said that the only parties to the Oathpact were Honor and the Heralds, I support the idea that the Honorblades are custom-made for them. What all that customization implies is argued in at least 2 threads already. However, I don't see it as unreasonable that it improves their Stormlight retention the way the Ideals do to the KR. It gives the spren yet another thing to pattern after the Honorblades. I know there's all sorts of argument on Herald vs KR, but let's get a few points out of the way. The Heralds have several Desolations worth of combat experience, as evidenced by Taln's reflexes. Kelek is on the record for killing a Thunderclast during the Final Desolation (the fiercest one yet). The 10 Heralds managed to take on at least the 1st Desolation without Radiant help. My logic: 1st Desolation is the first time man/spren see the Heralds work, so they copy them after it

In terms of the actual planet, I don't know of much info. I'm sure someone made a list of travel times between cities, but I do have something useful to consider about those travel times. Source Relevant Emphasis added.

[Cosmere Spoilers] What to make of the Unmade?
The One Who Connects replied to 1stBondsmith's topic in Stormlight Archive
To clarify for myself and any others, when did we learn this? Or perhaps I am misinterpreting, in which case, what are you implying by this? The rest of the theories seem decent or have been argued already, so I'll hold off. -
