I know that there are rules about bringing back older topics, but at the moment, getting smited for making a new topic with the same base idea sounds less appealing. Firstly, a few points. Secondly, the connections that can be made: 1. Skaze -> Skai = Dominion 2. Skaze -> Shu-Dereth -> Jaddeth 3. Jaddeth -> Worship = Dominion? Jaddeth will return when the whole world worships him. This feels either (a) too easy to be right, or (b) blatant enough to get overlooked. While I like the earlier idea of the Elantris Aon taking up the Dor, it is quite possible that Fjordell may have a plan of their own.

Calculating When Highstorms Occur
The One Who Connects replied to Lewis Nethur's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is a sequence of dates corresponding to the last ten highstorms leading up to the arrival of the everstorm. From the Diagram. Granted, I don't know if these dates are for when they hit Kharbranth or somewhere else, but it's a start. -
Didn't know TLR took a while to figure it out, although he had enough time for it to not matter as much. But I agree with you that it isn't that simple. The way I understood it was that you needed to have the spare metalminds and thought clarity to store most of that extra charge to use later. Otherwise you'd just use it all in one big burst. (If I'm completely off base with this, feel free to correct me) Edit: Sentence Structure

Stormlight Archive Youtube miniseries
The One Who Connects replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Gah, I'm quoting you left and right nowadays. If this does really well, I assume you guys/gals could attempt branching to more of Brandon's works. The cosmere connecting bits are a bit more useful for that side of things, at least in my opinion. -
First off, if I am breaking a rule about thread revival, then I apologize. So that was an ordeal to type. While I don't know if that is doable at all, I can see it being used my a Feruchemical savant if such a thing exists. Practice brings improvement, does it not?

Voice acting is easier on an animation too, because not everyone has a matching appearance and a fitting voice. There is just something... real about movies with real people that animation sometimes has trouble capturing the essence of.

Lift, and why we NEED to give her a spike or four.
The One Who Connects replied to Djarskublar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That depends on if accessing the Bands (and other items) are limited to allomancers/feruchemists. Speaking of which, do the medallions only work for someone with Scadrian sDNA? -
I believe there is WoB saying that Ruin didn't tell them how to compound and they had to figure it out themselves. Marsh was present for Sazed's musings (Book 1) on how the Lord Ruler became "immortal" and so he had an edge

The unified theory of Roshar
The One Who Connects replied to Djarskublar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Atium was treated as one of the 16 metals because people didn't know any better and TLR deliberately manipulated information to that goal. It really didn't have anything to do with Ruin accessing Preservation's manifestation of investiture. I was under the impression that Preservation, not Ruin was the one hijacking. (albeit passively) He switched cadmium/bendalloy with Atium/Malation so that his Atium Misting army could naturally occur, since mistfallen became one of the 16. It's "citation needed" but the third parahraph mentions this It must have been mentioned somewhere, how else will they use the Gemhearts to sustain their armies? What does Lightweaving have to do with soulcasting and how does their connection make being a manipulation of a surge irrelevant? Jeez, I should've just quoted your post all at once. As for multiple Lightweaving types, that's Hoid's thing. -
theory Tanavast's Apocalyptic Log
The One Who Connects replied to Oversleep's topic in Stormlight Archive
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Sunmaker's rule also where "future = voidbringer" started? On that subject, the Heirocracy was described as the church taking over. i seem to remember Amaram wanting to restore the dominance of the church. Granted, he isn't really a trustworthy source. Perhaps whoever controls the... (Sons of Honor?) is receiving visions too. Edit: Spellcheck- 14 replies

I had a similar thought to this, albeit a while back during the discussion of showing the magic on-screen. The headache inducing effect that time being atium shadows. Kelsier vs Inquisitor becomes hazy and cluttered with shadow projections, to name one instance. Granted if we're watching the fight from above/the side (Like Vin's POV) she wouldn't see them and problem solved. But my idea was to show that they both had atium (shadows from Kel and Inq pov) and then do fights without the shadows, unless Brandon mentions them for a specific reason. Looking at you Vin... The following idea goes off my recollection of freeing Ruin at the Well scene in both books. Any scene with multiple characters would likely have several camera angle changes (looking at vin, elend, mist spirit, etc..) I propose splicing some of Kel's view and lines between those changes. WoA shows the mist spirit drawing his knife and stabbing Elend right? Elend PoV: Lingers on mist spirit with the knife Kel PoV: Grab Preservation's arm and stab Elend with it (Can replace the physical stab moment from the original version if needed) Vin Pov: Her crying out to Elend, or whatever she actually did. Crying out made sense when I typed this Clearly, I am not the "masterful production you speak of

@Doctor12 Now that you mention it, the "Ring" effects do bear some resemblance. If nothing else, they provide somewhat of a reference image that we previously didn't have. @Rob Lucci & Doctor12: I'd kinda want to see a "Physics with Kelsier" of that humor as a bonus feature for TFE dvd. Maybe something like it with Sazed or Vin for the next 2 movies I thought about that and came up with another idea. Granted, its based on an assumption which is as follows: Unless we get a Devoted Movie Team, some scenes from the books will get cut from the film for time limits/excessive wordiness. It's just what happens nowadays The Lord of the Rings extended editions add nearly an hour each to film length. I could see adding scenes from SH to the extended versions along with things dropped from the original cut. Opinions, comments, concerns?

theory Tanavast's Apocalyptic Log
The One Who Connects replied to Oversleep's topic in Stormlight Archive
Kaladin had a few, yes. But the potter had dreams during highstorms during the past two years. That timeframe alone seems significant in some way.- 14 replies

theory Tanavast's Apocalyptic Log
The One Who Connects replied to Oversleep's topic in Stormlight Archive
“ That chanting, that singing, those rasping voices.” —Collected on Kaktach 1173, 16 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a middle-aged potter who reported seeing strange dreams during highstorms during the previous two years.[32] From the Coppermind. I definitely agree that others received the visions, though this is the only other reference to them that I know of. Edit: Format- 14 replies

If I remember from the Alethi translation thread, that should be the Vorin numerals for 1-10.

So why exactly is Nightblood so stupendously overpowered?
The One Who Connects replied to kroen's topic in Warbreaker
To me, it seems like Nightblood was patterned after a Shardblade, but (aside from talking) behaves/operates more like an Honorblade. Very powerful, with a lot of potential abilities. On that note, if you took a Hemalurgic spike to an Honorblade... -
HoA Chapter 76: "Ruin no longer looked like Reen. Instead, he manifested as a large patch of shifting black smoke. A thing without a body, but with a consciousness greater than that of a simple human." So yes, you guys are right. Smoke and mist. But in Chapter 81, Elend sees Vin: "A shifting, brilliant personage of pure white. Her hands held to his shoulders with her head thrown back, white hair streaming, mist flaring behind her like wings that stretched across the sky." It stands to reason that Ruin could appear as Ati (at least slightly) while in mist-form. Perhaps head and a slight torso that fades into mist.

wok Stormlight Archive trailers
The One Who Connects replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I tried searching for that thread yesterday. I had to search by 'start date' to actually find it. Maybe I'm blind, but it hasn't had activity for a while and those become difficult to see This nearly got me. It's a good trailer all in all, though why no Szeth? Edit: I'm blind. -
Everybody (except insufferably stubborn people) goes to the Beyond when they die. There is a being/force referred to as The God Beyond. I like this idea, mostly because I don't think the similarity is idle coincidence.
-
Of Ruin? Well technically he was pretty much black mist. I could've sworn Vin mentioned him looking like Reen at some point, but the Coppermind doesn't give him a physical description either. Maybe I misread earlier. I could easily see this, but... I don't know. I feel like if the Era 1 trilogy does really well, the fans will be clamoring for Era 1.5 with Wax/Wayne.

For a HoA poster idea featuring Ruin (did we ever get a proper description beyond black mist?) Ruin, ascended above the land, slightly shrouded by blackened mist, a faint smile on his face. With the quote: "You're all on my side Vin, each and every one of you. Zane, Yomen, your dear Emperor Venture..." Yes I know, the classic "villain poster" trope, but I think it could work. Assuming I find an physical description in my reread.

Does emotional allomancy work on yourself? If so, none were more skilled at soothing emotions than Breeze was. Soothe depression, sadness and maybe regret/remorse and he could bounce back a fair bit faster.

Stormlight Archive Translation Guide
The One Who Connects replied to Harakeke's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not to detract from your work, but aren't the "decorative" lines not supposed to hinder the reading of the actual glyph/glyphpair? ie: not look like other letters Edit: I guess since a fair amount of men likely are not trained in reading glyphs, they won't know if an irrelevant letter is what makes it look like the item(tower, sword, flag, ect..) that they call theirs or their lord's. Just an extra thought, if you asked Gaz about a glyphpair, he would say Kholin's camp or Thanadal's camp, etc... Kaladin can read glyphs, so he would say Khokh Linil, Sas Morom, etc..- 379 replies
