  1. Marsh was able to resist Ruin decently well through sheer force of will when Ruin wasn't directly focused on him, right? Say you added Spikes stealing human emotional stability and fortitude. Sazed probably wouldn't focus directly on controlling Kel, and that could help him resist if he needed. Do I think that's what he did? No, but it's something that I feel like people have overlooked in the past because we don't have an in-world example.
  2. Given that (Honorspren at the very least) are drawn to people who act a certain way, that might be a rather complex forgery
  3. I like this idea, but why would it have to be different for them? To me, language is more or less an evolving cognitive entity built around the perceptions of the people who speak it. If we took Alethi 1 in High School or spent some time in Alethi Culture, we would pick up some of the language without magic. I imagine any worldhopper that spent some time trying to live/fit in with the local culture would start picking up on the language. Once you've picked up on some words & culture, you're Connected cognitively to the area, if only a little bit here and there. As anyone who has started(and not yet finished) a book series/tv show likely knows, it's pretty hard to distance yourself again once you've started. Those few connections you have will pave the way for more. It's the whole reason why we ask Brandon so many questions, because we want to understand it better. Maybe the magical aspect to how Worldhoppers do it is that its quicker and more instinctual, with less proper learning involved.
  4. So this is a bit late in terms of the original topic, but I was reading some of the other WoB's from Spool's link and found this: 50 with some emphasis added
  5. While this WoB doesn't actually confirm it, it still feels relevant to your points: Slight Emphasis added
  6. I don't see myself as knowledgeable to comment on the rest, but Brandon has said that the Inquisitors that gained Feruchemy in HoA used their spikes as their metalminds, so yes you can.
  7. Is there actually smoke coming off of them? I never read it as smoke coming from the eyes, but I have misinterpreted before
  8. Source But honestly, I don't see too much to argue with here. I think the Honorblades feed on investiture specifically to grant the surges, but that's also speculation.
  9. Long story short, Brandon did a few post-release changes/corrections to WoR. I don't remember all that he did right now, but it wasn't too much beyond changing a word here/there and spellcheck. He rewrote small portions of a few scenes, such as how Kaladin ended the fight with Szeth.
  10. If you could jury-rig Aons to get powered by other forms of Investiture when off-world, you could basically have an Aonic Nightblood. It could consume the Investiture of who/whatever it came into contact with. Might still have to kill like a normal sword, but we could call it "Drabmaker" I'm very clearly reaching here. Not sure whether to refer you to the Artifabrian Weapon-smith or to keep you away from the spare fabrials laying around
  11. As a genuine question that could affect the Medallion theory: can worldhoppers get to a planet without having to go through the Shardpool? The Pits and The Well are both in the North, whereas the medallions are at the South Pole. I accept that Hoid could probably survive the trek down and back, but that would take ages
  12. I don't think you could actually prevent being physically burned, but the heat could be transferred. It may have been mentioned as a way to avoid heat exhaustion as some point, though I haven't the faintest clue where
  13. I do not fully remember what Brandon said, but I do remember something along the lines of a metalmind with enough investiture could potentially block a shardblade. I doubt something as simple as a sword shaped metalmind would function like shardblades/Nightblood though. Atium perhaps... I don't actually know, it could work. Sel: People have theorized that (with some tinkering) you could mimic a spren bonded Blade with your bonded Seon. On a slightly simpler idea, you could take a normal sword and boost it with the proper Aons. Might need some tools to draw them small enough to fit on the sword without messing up the lines. Edit: I don't think Aon-boosted would work like a Shardblade either... Taldain: I have no idea.
  14. I hadn't even considered the Medallions. I figured he had some archaic Yolish version like with his Lightweaving.
  15. I did a decent amount of looking into this after seeing this, and I see rather little magic needed to explain how they fly. (They still have the Spren, so there is some magic to them) It uses some of the gases from digestion to float/glide. As far as I am aware, this is unique to anything in our world. However, a look into the real world (where I searched first for some reason) reveals an interesting creature. Chrysopelea paradisi, also known as the Paradise tree snake or Paradise flying snake. Lastly, Brandon on the Chasmfiend Spren. Never mind, Spool already linked that WoB
  16. We generally accept that they had other powers, but as Yata mentioned "perfect host," the Honorblade may have given them other strengths as well.
  17. The only thing I have noticed on that chart is the "Dustbringer" equivalent Glyph is on the corners of the Kharbranth image. http://coppermind.net/w/images/Kharbranth.jpg
  18. It's fine. The attributes are listed on the Ten Essences chart. I think that this is in the Ars Arcanum of both books, but not fully sure
  19. Resolute - admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering. (I'm not sourcing define ".." in google) Cowardice seems the opposite of unwavering, ie Resolute, but that's an argument of semantics
  20. Completely Baseless Theory: Elhokar is in line to becoming a Willshaper (albeit a fairly minor one, but I don't see them logically beating a Desolation with only 10 Radiants) This entire idea is spawned from this quote: Lightweaver and Elsecaller have Shadesmar access via Transformation, Elsecaller and Willshaper via Transportation. Shallan had shadow-esque things, Jasnah's shadow was affected, perhaps this is something Shadesmar access spren do. Capricious - given to sudden/uncontrollable changes of mood/behavior: Could start Elhokar's personality changes. There's also how he acted right before and after Kaladin's "Boon incident". Frustrating and unreliable - as taking it for granted that others would agree; those fit Elhokar. Most varied, inconsistent in temperament - he could get in on the far end of the average Willshaper. You could construe the chasmfiend "incident" as seeking adventure (or that he's an idiot), but I've got little in the way of novelty/oddity Note: I created this theory about a minute or 2 before I started typing, so it's fairly out there. Tear it apart all you wish
  21. Given his fear/hatred of Harmony, he could want the potential combo's dead first. Edit: Or maybe not, quote Brandon: To me, "at least one" sounds like there is 1 dead with the potential for more by the time we get to their books.
  22. Since we don't have an official artwork of Parshendi, this is perfectly fine. On that subject, we've never really seen a Nightform anyway, so this is good enough headcanon for it.
  23. I'm going to ignore how much this reminds me of the Gem-cutter in Infinity Blade 3 and walk away. But yea, like they said: gem is suspended in a glass sphere that has a flat portion so they don't roll too far. The "better the cut" is every detail we know about it. I imagine the Stormlight works like Investiture in Hemalurgic Spikes: permeates the whole thing, splits into the pieces if broken, etc..
  24. Per the Allomancy page on the Coppermind. Note the "citation needed," so this may not be fully accurate
  25. Best I can actually find: Source Off of memory, I slightly remember Brandon saying he was related to a shard, but currently can't find it.
