  1. Not exactly I suppose if you want to go purely theoretical, then there would be quite a few. I'll let someone else check the math, since I am either misunderstanding what you wrote, or the equation in the image, but I feel that the number should be lower than that.
  2. Those organizations are connected by/to Hoid, which makes it a special case by technicality.
  3. I can't easily pull a WoB while I'm on mobile, but there was another discussion about this the other day. Our world hopping friends brought the common cold to Roshar. It isn't deadly, but the ambient investiture (Stormlight) has made normal disease and sickness very uncommon, which makes any sickness a bigger deal. That combined with a lack of natural immunity has allowed them to blow it further out of proportion compared to how we would consider something like the common cold. They don't get sick very much, and suddenly several people all come down with something they've never seen before, it's cause for concern.
  4. I feel that Nicrosil might be affected just like the other metals in that you can't store/tap from a specific area of the body. Can't only strengthen legs, can't tap warmth only in the hands, etc... but I may be taking bind points on the body a bit too literally in this instance. It just makes sense that if you can only get so specific in what you store for one metal, it should follow for the others.
  5. I like the idea, and wouldn't be surprised if it was a thing. So have an upvote for that The problem with these letters in particular is that I swear I remembered reading that Frost hasn't left Yolen, so he can't get it. Granted, he can form/run the Seventeenth Shard without leaving Yolen either...
  6. The low end is usually limited by health concerns though, not by the hardcoded rule of the magic. As long as the physics that Brandon is using for Ironminds don't have any significant health risks, then Wax could in fact store all of his weight (which is the hardcoded low end: as much as you presently have) Additionally, Sazed stored enough in WoA that he appeared to "float down," which would be a rather large reduction in its own right.
  7. You are correct, it is more full-on than I implied in my statement. 7 was an arbitrary for the point that several people all getting sick at once is cause for more concern in their unnaturally healthy society than we might normally call it, since we know how common things like the "common cold" are.
  8. Mistborn only became a thing due to Allomancy becoming stronger (the Lerasium) Feruchemy in its natural state was all 16(18 with God metals) powers. Allomancy in its natural state was Mistings, having only 1 power each. Feruchemy was as weak as it could naturally get as long as they didn't intermingle with Allomancy. Unfortunately, they are still required to Snap. It's a Cosmere wide concept. That said.. Snapping used to be great emotional trauma of some sort, which led to nobles being beaten near to death. Perhaps now that it is changed, it may be something that can happen naturally, as opposed to a forced trauma. I cannot for the life of me think of some natural process Sazed could've switched it for, but I like your points. i hadn't considered much beyond the F-genes and the A-genes interfere before making this post, so upvote for making us think creatively
  9. It's ... not something to dismiss out of hand. Given that Hoid has pre-Shattering magic, perhaps he figured he took it for someone else However, i do think he was explaining what Lerasium did to Kelsier, hence the "grant anyone Allomancy" bit
  10. Now that you say that, I feel like that has been said somewhere before. Coppermind doesn't have it though.. Here here and here
  11. And because of this, something as small as .. 7ish people all getting sick in quick succession is called a plague. In addition to Because of the ambient investiture, the Rosharan people have never had the common cold before, so they aren't used to it/call the symptoms worse than they really are
  12. I would like to point out 2 things. 1) We definitively do not know that for certain, it has just been circumstantial speculation so far. 2) Popular opinion has shifted, and people are now assuming Mr T's "traitor" line refers to someone we learn more about in Edgedancer. Edit: and then there's people like me, who don't like either of those options.
  13. Despite the fact that me reading the WoB likely won't help me get any ideas, I wan't to see this WoB. Happen to have the link handy?
  14. 1. We don't know for sure. 2. They do have meanings. 3. The expanses lead to the other Shardworlds. Vapors - Scadrial, etc.. 4. Expanses see 3. As for the nexus: You should check out this theory
  15. For the Inquisitors in TLR era, the fear inspired by giant spikes. Freed Ruin era, larger spikes can serve as larger Metalminds for the appropriate attributes, and TLR kinda made it a tradition. Bigger(longer) spikes are also better to spike someone else in battle, as one tried to do in.. HoA. Small spikes are stealth spikes for the most part.
  16. On other planets, the metals of R&P would still work, so normal Allomancy is unchanged. Metals of other Shards... that's a genuine can of worms. If another Shard did things beyond just Investing in Scadrial, then they would have their own God metal, which would definitely work. But the Shards as they are, invested in the other worlds, that may or may not work. In a question about the Metal of a Shardblade for instance, Brandon has told us that we "are assuming that it wouldn't be Allomantically inert" without confirming that is is or isn't. At present, the Elantrian Shards don't even have a manifestation that is metal, so a mix would be.. different than we might think, if it is even possible.
  17. 1. Odium's intent allows for patience, which allows for the possibility of stronger future-sight. Perhaps he saw the Heralds growing insanity, or humanity growing complacent and decided to go with it. 1a. From the prologue, quoth Jezrien, Ishar thought that as long as one of them was still bound, they could break the cycle itself. Since they had nearly all been mentally broken by the Desolations and the torture, they told humanity that they won. Secondly, Taln is the Herald of War, so it would technically be his job to teach humanity how to fight. 2. it is entirely possible that that may be the reason, but until it is confirmed, we don't know. 2a. I've seen that idea before. It makes sense, but with Honor splintered, that power isn't actively trying to hold Odium back anymore. it makes the logic turn hazy. 3. As a recurring theme in Brandon's works, what the characters think they know isn't always how it works. I am curious why you think it should be the last herald to break though. 4ish. The Spren can sense when a Desolation is close at hand, and they try to bond en masse to help defend against it. 4a. A potential KR follows a lifestyle that fits the Oaths. That attracts the proper Spren to them. Whether they will really be a Radiant and stay as one is if they say the rest of the Oaths (if they don't, the bond will fade eventually) and if they continue to live by those Oaths.
  18. Cadmium and Chromium. 2 new metals, and 2 metal alloys. It appears that Sazed went to the Obi-Wan "truth from my point of view" Kenobi School of Giving Information, so the alloys don't seem to count. Props to the people who get the reference. As for why Era 1 said those, it's because people in world don't always know what they are talking about. Remember in book 1 where there were only 10 metals? Additionally, the Ars Arcanums are written by an in-universe character, not by Brandon giving a glossary at the end of his book.
  19. How much strength/health you could store in Feruchemy is affected by those criteria, so I imagine that Hemalurgy would be affected. If memory serves me, older people often had a "weaker" breath on Nalthis than young people, but I do not know if that is the breath itself or a quality of Innate Investiture, as Breath is a largely Nalthis exclusive trait. Edit: forgot to finish my thought: It makes sense for that to be the case, but i cannot say for sure.
  20. I can accept that, I was just making a case for others to be able to do it. It didn't seem right that only "the bad guy" can do some super powerful thing that nobody's survived so far. Just felt out of place i guess
  21. Quoth Oversleep on a topic I read earlier, he believes that "the element" is something related to unpublished works. The accuracy of this statement is pending until a WoB can be produced. So to answer your question, basically we don't know.
  22. here Cultivation could have splintered a shard without breaking her Intent. To cultivate is "to prepare and use something for a purpose."(usually gardening, but..) If a weed (Odium) needs to be gotten rid of to allow her plants (humanity) to grow, then it could be done. There's the issue with available power to do so that Jedal brought up, but that is a different point.
  23. While this is true, I do not believe that Aiden's updated instructions included a new direction to aim. Thus I am more or less made to assume that it is on a straight line path in this instance. It is an assumption that may be wrong, but it's the option that makes the most sense with what little we know.
  24. That is where I made my mistake. I assumed that 2 strides were one of his steps as he says "use half as your unit." Meaning that I divided when I should have multiplied. 41 units is still the difference in steps from palace/center to docks. But with 1 unit being 2 steps, that puts the distance at 82 steps away. Now that the number is correct, I shall respond to this The Aon itself works in a straight line, so it is the case that they are 20 (82) steps in a direct line.
  25. I was assuming but has been confirmed? Here Technically, maybe, ish. It specifies Honorblade rather than Herald so..
