Miles tapping gold while jumping down and breaking his legs, had them heal even as they snapped to the point it was almost not noticeable. Now regarding storing the difference between zinc and steel. Zinc does accelerate cognition, but also allows for intuitive leaps that normally you would not be capable of (but it does not increase your intelligence), so it is not useless when compared to steel speed, just has different applications. I think the problem with everyone feeling steel is so OP is because every time we have seen it used, is the result of someone having the opportunity to store large amounts of it or using compounding. We do not often see the full extent of how long you have to store, and how much you slow yourself down to get those level of amounts. We've seen Sazed run great distances, but run through his entire storage as result. We have no idea how long he has been storing those. Then we see him burst multiple times for a few seconds at a time after being locked up by the kandra. We've seen Basically what I am going for is we do not know at this time how much time and how much you have to impair yourself to truly get that level of high speed for extended periods of time. Sure you could do multiple small bursts, but then you would be empty, and have who knows how long needed to get even that little back. At least that is my take on the whole thing

I was under the impression that in my opinion there are three "states" you could be in in combat. State one is normal. In other words you act like you would normally, whether it is you are trained and deal with combat as a soldier, or you are new and fearful and void your bowels, that is still you being you in that moment. State two, is the Thrill. You want to kill more and more than typical for you. Battle is a heady experience that is like a drug. Now some people could be that way in state one, but that is why I wrote normal for you the individual. State three, is the Thrill affecting a proto radiant. That proto radiant becomes violently sick to their stomach to the point they almost cannot function on the battle field. They are nauseous and want to puke. This is typically noticeable as the ones we have seen under go this are hardened trained soldiers even without the Thrill. Then suddenly they are unable to function till they confront these disparate feelings and then are no longer affected by the Thrill at all.

[Edgedancer/newsletter spoilers] An almost divine skill
Pathfinder replied to summersnow's topic in Stormlight Archive
When Kaladin was a child back in Hearthstone and fought with a staff against the other kid, he had never held a staff before in combat in his life. In the beginning he gets his but handed to him. Suddenly he is able to pull off incredible moves and it feels "right" to him. He is then shocked, and confused by both his ability and how Laral is acting that then result in him losing. He then requests the other kid teaches him. Going from no skill whatsoever, to nearly beating someone trained, to then getting beaten. That seems supernatural to me. -

In the prose version it is much more male centric, where as it was mentioned, Heelis had to use a loop hole just to reach the level of high judge. In the graphic novel, it seems to be more liberal as Ais is now female and commands many male underlings so Heelis does not seem as unique anymore.

I know very little of astronomy, but would the fact that there is a moon circling Taldain affect this model at all?
-
Lol thanks, though this one may hurt you even more. Possibly the reason (and I am just spit balling so there could be countless holes in this rationale) why Adolin isn't a more central character in the subsequent books (if I recall correctly from seeing your other posts) is that when confronted by the skybreaker, Dalinar locks him up, but arranges it so he can escape and Adolin is off screen on the run during books 3, 4 and 5. Then in the second half (6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) he shows up in all his edgedancer glory, with flash back chapters showing him on the run, learning more about himself, reviving his blade, and coming to terms with his actions through dialogue with his newly acquired spren. So although you wouldn't see him much at all in the first half, in the second half you would see him a lot more. Though I do not recall if Brandon presented the story structure for the second half, so that could all be like tears in the rain lol.
-
I would need to pull up the quote, but I believe it was Dalinar that remarks that when cutting into stone, you have to keep the motion going because if you stop, the blade would get stuck and you would have to try and yank it out. So it isn't like a lightsaber in the sense that anything it automatically touches is cut. There seems to be some pressure required.

Doesn't lashings work on the windrunner's spiritual connection to that planet's gravity? If I am recalling that correctly, then I do not see it being a stretch that the lashings would then adapt to the various gradations of gravity on various planets.
-
I think the surest way for problems to arise is for a new skybreaker radiant to show up just as Sadeas's murder is revealed. Dalinar is trying to re-found the knights radiant, so it would not do to get into conflict with a new order showing up, but at the same time if anyone could figure out it is Adolin who is guilty of murder, it would be a skybreaker, and it would be a skybreaker who would seek to carry out the sentence no matter what. So it would either mean potentially fracturing the already fragile re-unification of the radiants, or let his son be locked up/executed by the very knights he is trying to bring back.

I am confused as to the correlation. Could you explain? To clarify, I was positing that because sweat contains urea, salts and such that perhaps that is why the sand/lichen does not turn black. Or another possibility is that the sand/lichen needs to be soaked with water for the sand/lichen to turn black. Not saying your comparison is wrong, but I am confused as to why the vines having enough water for people to drink is evidence that the sand needs to be saturated to be turned black, vs fresh not needing as much water. Could you elaborate?
-
Hmmm, maybe it has to be "fresh" water or the sand needs to be saturated to turn black?

Lol yeah there are whole threads trying to figure out how Nale travels so fast from location to location. My personal theory is he has an elsecalling fabrial. I believe the WoB is regarding Taln or as he puts it "the guy who calls himself Taln". But me saying this isn't to shut you down or anything. I was curious if new information arose that called that identity into question. Otherwise, I wish you luck with your theory, and will RAFO when stormlight 3 one day comes out
-
Why would you feel that Nalan at the end is not the same as the one hunting radiants? The descriptions do match exactly.

Western as a genre is not necessarily beholden to a set time period. Neo-Westerns are a prime example of this (such as No Country for Old Men). In fact Breaking Bad holds to many Western archetypes. So I would still consider Wax and Wayne a Western.

When you are immortal and have powers beyond any normal being (for that planet that is), the host of possibilities are endless. Though one could say doing the typical I am immortal, so the joys of compound interest makes me rich might work.
-
That very well could be the case, or my disappointment in the graphic novel grows as they gloss over the hardships Khriss should have gone through traveling through dayside. Regarding your comment about water allergic organism, i put the newsletter info in spoiler below: Yeah, I feel like she was not dressed for the environment at alllll and should have had a harder time than she did lol. But who knows. You did make a good point that the lichen hanging around full of investiture might be doing something we haven't realized yet.
-
Thank you . Correct, except in the regard of ParadoxSpren below, which I should have clarified. Skaze are of Dominion, Seons are of Devotion, but the aons at their center are the splinters themselves.
