Actually I was saying it would result in "The Day the Earth Stood Still". That they realized Scadrial could get technologically advanced quicker than those that are already more Cosmere aware, and when Scadrial enters the cosmere, decimate all other planets. So the entity using the Fakeless Immortals are trying to control their progress/slow it down so they can catch up and be prepared, or baring that, destroy Scadrial first. I found it interesting the parallels between the faster than light travel vs technology in Elysium, vs worldhopping and space travel. There is next to nothing to support it, just thought an interesting perspective to look at and think on.

Wasn't he wearing the pathian earring from harmony at that point which was a hemalurgic spike? I thought it was accepted on the boards she had some ability from her foreign spike to be able to communicate through it to another person spiked.
-
I have responded to so many of these points countless times that at this point I think it is best for me to just step away from this thread while the conversation was good, and not frustrating. All the best to everyone!

Technically we have seen a proto radiant wearing shardplate. Dalinar. And it did glow when it was commented on how he can seemingly get more out of the plate than others can. Then again that is a generic shardplate wielded by a proto radiant. Still have no idea how actual shardplate works with an actual radiant.

Ah gotcha. I thought you meant the Dakhor monks themselves could not heal from injuries. Now I understand what you meant.
-
We do know they can't heal? There is a WoB or actual statement in the book? I always thought the Dakhor had natural accelerated healing. I am not saying you are wrong, but its been awhile since I read Elantris, could you provide a reference to refresh my memory?

I gotcha. I was just replying to Alfa. He stated that having two, one long and one short, could help if the foe got under the reach of the long sword, you would still have the short. My thought is if it is living, then it could just change to short, removing the need for the second. The sword and board combo however I do agree with. Sorry I should have quoted Alfa

So just something funny that popped in my head. If it was intended to be a metal mind, then it is a very impractical one. First if you actually use it as a belt, then you cannot tap or store it as it is holding up your pants. You would need to reach down and touch it to tap or store. The reason for bands and earrings is that they are always touching your skin. The spear head makes sense to trick people, but the belt seems kind of obtuse. Then there is the idea that your metal mind is basically a metal hoola hoop. Finally might be pretty difficult to pull off the statue. The spear head can be broken off, but the belt has to be cut, and then peeled off.

Hemalurgically you can be a mistborn and a ferring, but born naturally you can only be a misting and ferring. The genetic stuff that makes you only be a mistborn with all, or a misting with one, got muddled in with feruchemy, which is why you have ferrings, and can have one of each. But you cannot have all of one side, and one of the other and vica versa. Has to be one and one.

Its gotten to the point that he can create black holes, and bend light to turn invisible by manipulating the electromagnetic spectrum. Oh and apparently because all living beings have a weak electromagnetic field, he can manipulate them too, without needing metal. Also some writer at some point decided "why not give Magneto some telepathy too?". I loved comic books when I was a kid, but now there are just too many chefs in the kitchen to cook anything palatable for me.

If we are talking about living spren blades, couldn't the spren just transform into a shorter blade if the enemy gets past the blades reach?

I think Brandon has staff monitoring the emails the past few years, because about a year or so ago, I asked for it and a day or so later I got it.

So I literally re-read Defending Elysium yesterday and it made me think about the cosmere coming together in an interesting way. Basically (since this is cosmere theories I do not believe I need to spoiler tag, but if I do I apologize and will happily fix) the whole premise is a select few individuals "protecting" the rest of the galaxy from humanity. That faster than light travel and technology are not mutually exclusive. Whole civilizations had barely harnessed steam power before they were hoping all over the galaxy with individual faster than light travel. The protagonist is concerned that if mankind either learned how to travel Faster than Light in that personal psionic manner, or eventually actually did develop the technological analogue, that all the other species would be hopelessly outclassed by our weapons and we would take over. Sound familiar? Scadrial is relatively technologically advanced, yet does not hold faster than light travel, while you have individuals on Roshar and other planets that still use swords and spears that can elsecall and what have you as they see fit to other worlds. So it would be a very interesting dynamic to see play out. Some civilizations that are very cosmere aware and have been to and trade with numerous planets, while being hopelessly outclassed to another civilization that is just starting to find its place in the cosmere. Then between those are the civilizations that are neither technologically advanced, nor cosmere aware that gets caught in the middle. Makes you kind of wonder, is the Red Haze that is blocking Harmony necessarily evil? For all we know, it could be a shard that realized Scadrial is a culture that could get very powerful before it decides to enter the game, and clear the board of all its pieces.

Yep, so we could theoretically end up with 9 graphic novels for the full White Sand Trilogy
-
Ah touche, though from what we saw of Marsh, still would hurt like hell lol

I do not think it would be as easy for an Inquisitor as it is for a kandra, if you mean by switching it up is removing one and putting in a different one. Kandra can move their bind points around, and form flesh around the spike treating it as spiked, while with a person, it actually has to be stabbed in. Remove an extra spike from a kandra, and it can close the hole easily. Remove a spike from an inquisitor, and you have a gaping hole lol

True true. Makes me want to see a Seon with an Elantrian on Roshar, to see what kind of powers that bond would result in. Hopefully Grump brought a hidden glowing friend with him to Roshar.....lol
-
That would also make him easier to manipulate and be influenced by the entity. Makes me wonder how long has this entity's spies and faceless immortals have been hanging around on Scadrial, trying to subvert Harmony.

Not sure if the AI would count as a spren, but I am with you on counting Iron Man's armor as invested for purposes of evening out the fight. The combat would really put to the test the durability of a radiant driven shardplate with the missiles flying. I wonder if the shardplate would absorb the repulsor blasts like it did the stormforms lightning attacks? Having the spren change into a shield anytime missiles are shot would help, but I think Iron Man might be able to keep ahead speed wise. The windrunner might come out ahead due to healing, strength, and speed increases from stormlight, though unless they find themselves in a highstorm, there is always the issue of it running out mid combat. It would in my opinion be very close.

Alcatraz has one book left, which..... Sixth of Dusk
-
No worries. if it makes you feel any better, he has been quoted in saying he had the artist make it that way on purpose as a red herring
-
Did you read the spoiler tags for the other two? Because again that fits your definition of not being a happy ending. Sixth of Dusk Alcatraz
-
Have you read Bands of Mourning yet? Because....
-
Books of Sanderson that do not end with a "happy ending" (as in everybody lived happily ever after) Sixth of Dusk Alcatraz Mistborn as was pointed out So not all of his books resolve with a "happy ending"

Lol there is literally a whole thread already on Vin vs Iron Man in the mistborn thread. It goes pretty in depth regarding both their abilities, and assumes giving Vin all the metals. Then there is also giving Iron Man an aluminum suit, but also limiting some of his weapons due to its composition while giving Vin a few select finite medallions (health, and heat) to even the playing field vs the aluminum suit. Conversely I think it would be interesting to see a full windrunner vs iron man.
