[OB] A question regarding timeline for the recreance
Bort replied to lilyjab's topic in Stormlight Archive
What with the theories regarding the Shattered Plains and the "stone spren" Sibling, plus the Stormfather's words about how humans 'already hurt the Sibling enough', I can't help but wonder if Dalinar is going to restore the stone Spren back to "life" by fixing the Shattered Plains, and proving to himself, his Radiants, and the world in general that Radiant powers can be trusted. -
So, reading Elantris again, and I was struck at how similar Ahan and Sebarial (Stormlight Archives) are, which makes me wonder if they are, in fact, the same person. If they are, could Palona be the worldhopping Kandra?

Wit, that's genius parenting. Well played.

Not a bad idea, I like it.

Actually, that kind of fits with the whole I will remember those who have been forgotten Ideal, since Shallan spends most of Oathbringer trying to forget Shallan Davar. Edit: And yes, I also think it is friggin' cool.

Long Game 44: Shadows of Elantris Redux

I remember the original Shadows of Elantris. That was a fun game. I'm in as Daoate, a solid, but suspiciously quiet member of the Elantris City Guard.- 1185 replies

[OB] when did you realize who was vivenna?
Bort replied to king of nowhere's topic in Stormlight Archive
I suspected when we heard about the sword, but knew for certain when she said "White on black." -
I stand corrected.

I'm not sure anyone actually likes Hoid, most of them suffer him so long as he doesn't interfere with them, and a few of them outright hate him.

I got the impression the sigh was more about Adolin handing her off to someone else who she wasn't bonded to. Or maybe it was a feeling of resignation, or something like that - I'm not sure now.

Maya sighed when Adolin told her to go with the Thaylen soldier. Didn't Adolin get a feeling of something like eagerness just before they went up against the thunderclast?

That is a lesson so many people could do with learning.

That's one little Cryptic that really lucked out. Imagine following Elhokar thinking his secrets were good, then meeting a feast like Hoid.

What are some of your favorite scenes in the WOT?
Bort replied to Axsaul's topic in The Wheel of Time
Egwene's "Eternal Flame" scene. That was so bittersweet. -
Have you read all three of the Mistborn (era 1) books?
-
For me it's the red and gold combination that appears everywhere. There has to be some connection there, but it all seems so random.
-
From what has been said and seen in Oathbringer, I think the original fabrials, the oathgates, and potentially Urithiru, weren't enslaved Spren, but rather were helping voluntarily.

@Drake Marshall I think you got my vote wrong. I had originally placed a vote on Ecth in the last cycle, but it was changed to Lopen in a later post. So, unless someone was able to switch it back, Ecth should have had one vote, and Lopen 3, or 4 with one crossed out. Also, sorry Lopen. I was so sure @Coop772 You commented on my lack of activity and my single post per cycle. Fair play, it is low activity, but most of the discussions happen on here in the final few hours of the cycle. This is time I am usually in bed, since the cycle ends at 7am here. So what am I meant to do, when there isn't much thread activity to discuss, and I don't really know anyone well enough to recognise when they are acting up? Since the last two people I've voted for both got lynched and turned out both to be innocent, let's hear some suspicions and reasons, and I'll vote from those.
-
I was mid-edit when Arinian posted, so I'll put this into a new post instead. Ecthelion III Removing my vote from Ecthelion since I think I've found a better suspect - Lopen. I had a fairly bland PM conversation in cycle one with him where he asked me about strategy ideas. I didn't have any, and still really don't, and he said he didn't either, and that was the end of it. Not much to go on, I know, but we haven't maintained contact since then, so I wonder if he was just sounding me out for how I might approach this. A bit more compelling is his voting, and this implicates Mac too, but I've not really looked at him much. Not yet. In the first cycle, he puts a poke vote on Mac. It's the first cycle, it's reasonable to assume that we would end up with quite a few candidates with only one or two votes, and we did. Perfect time to poke a fellow eliminator without expecting it to cause too much trouble, or get yourself in good with the villagers if the random roll to see who dies goes badly for the eliminators. Cycle one, Mac poke votes Randuir, who I have no suspicions about one way or the other. Cycle two, Mac isn't in trouble this cycle. I've not checked to see if anyone had voted for Mac but retracted, but Lopen puts his vote on Devotary, until Mac comes along and seals Straw's fate. Cycle 3 is interesting though. Mac is in trouble again, and predictably votes to push someone else into the danger zone. Lopen also votes to put someone else into the danger zone. Voting for the same person as Mac would be a bit obvious, but by pushing up a third person into the death vote, he improves Mac's chances of survival, so it is only 1/3 chance of death instead of 50%. Finally, the icing on the cake, and something quite cheeky that I could see Lopen doing for a laugh, asking for a mass role reveal after someone else had said how suspicious it would be. Instantly dismissable as either 'I didn't read that part' or 'What, you thought I was being serious?' and a good chance to build up rapport with the villagers and deflect suspicions. Anyways, there you go. I'm off to bed shortly though, so I'll read any replies in the morning/next cycle.

What about the possibility of a single eliminator, with all of the powers? If they can only use one power per turn, then it makes sense that there are no kills so far - they are trying to find their targets. No idea if this would work or not, but it's a thought.
-
Lopen protects, but in his own special way. This is shown after the battle, when his second oath is accepted. He's with the sick, reminding a guy who had just lost his arm that life was still worth living. It's not standing in front of someone yelling "You shall not pass!" but it's protecting in it's own special way.

The one I really wanted to see was the Szeth/Dalinar conversation.

Yes, Lopen. Asking for a mass role claim is suspicious. I like the Princess Bride reference in the write up. Nice one @Drake Marshall Someone said yesterday, when posting a vote for me, that there isn't much to go on about me. This is true, but there is a reason for that. I believe I've already mentioned this is my first game in ages. So, the reason for minimal activity is just me trying to get my head around the game again, and see what kinds of reads I can get on the players, most of which I've never played alongside before. My vote this cycle is going on Ecthelion III. Mostly for his defence of himself yesterday. Using the logic "I'm not an eliminator since I'm not playing like one," seems a bit flimsy. Surely not playing like an eliminator is a good thing, especially when you are an eliminator.
