I'd just like to point out that, during his SA cameo, Demoux would be at least 250-300 years old. I know Brandon hasn't finalised the timeline between Scadrial and Roshar, but he has said that the Wax and Wayne books take place after Stormlight 5, and we know they take place some 300 years after the first Mistborn series.

This. Please remember one of the fundamentals of the Stormlight Archive... Journey before destination. Yes, Jasnah has some really unlikable qualities when we first meet her, but that's the point. Yes, she might have already been Radiant, but she still has the journey ahead of her. Edit: Oops, sorry for double post.

I think there is WoB that Shallan is bisexual. It's on the Coppermind, at least.

Darth Vader: Skybreaker.

I think people are forgetting that on Roshar, Alethkar at least, it is considered seemly for a woman to be fluent in the sciences. Navani was probably good with fabrials before becoming Queen. Also, how many times in the books are fabrials in use and it is commented that Navani either 'created it', or 'had a hand in it's creation'? The ones I can think of off the top of my head are the painrial (which Navani shows off to the Kholins shortly after arriving back on the Shattered Plains in WoK), the heating fabrial (Renarin tells Kaladin that Navani made it in WoR, during a highstorm), and (OB Spoiler) . And while there are other scholars and engineers there, she also takes an active part in the development of the floating platforms.

That last scene has the ring of an oath about it. "They will listen to me, Stormfather, or I will eat them." Maybe one of Lift's oaths.
-
This is true. I had forgottenthat.

No, at the end of WoK, Elhokar admits to Dalinar that he fixed the strap but knew nothing about the gemstones. Maybe we are onto something here, the only thing is, I'm not entirely sure if Wit is that heartless to go and hang around with proto-Lightweavers in the hope they are killed. He seemed to like Elhokar. Of course, I can see him being a total opportunist, and seizing the moment when it presented itself, regardless of who died.

We seem to be overlooking one thing here. Spikes worked on Scadrial because the maic system there was based around metals. When Brandon said that similar principles to Hemalurgy were used, I think the knife was just a conduit to draw at least part of Jezrien's soul into the gemstone. Now, maybe Moash has to swallow it, a la Amaram, to acquire whatever it bestows.

Now there's a question for Brandon. Something that was never answered in the books: Did Hoid plant the faulty gemstones in Elhokar's Shardplate during that first chasmfiend battle?

Oh, I totally agree. I think if Hoid was going to attract any Spren, it would be a Cryptic. I was just saying that his natural investiture makes him stand out to the similarly invested. It put Syl off, who knows what it would do to a Cryptic? Now that I think on it, probably put them off too, at least a little, since he has to persuade the Cryptic to go with him, rather than having already attracted one during his years on Roshar.

The Trailsman's Flute Hoid gives Kaladin, perhaps? I forget, what happens to Rand's flute in WoT?
-
On one hand, I agree with you. On the other, we already have one Spren saying they don't like Hoid because he gives off an odd feeling (I forget Syl's actual words, but it's in WoK, in the Wandersail chapter). Also (Mistborn era 1 spoiler),

I get the impression from the Wax and Wayne books that they don't know too much about the Cosmere. I'd be more curious to know what Steris knows. She says and does a few things that raise questions in my mind about how much she actually knows.
-
That's not saying much. Doesn't she have some trick similar to Dalinar's that lets her understand most languages?
-
I think I know which part you mean, where Bridge Four get the emeralds from the royal reserve for Windrunner training? They're big, because they are chasmfiend gemhearts, and they are emeralds, because they are the emergency reserve in case they are needed for food. It's not because they hold stormlight more efficiently than other gems, although their sheer size probably means they do hold more stormlight then other gems. Also, the larger the gemstone is, the less likely it is to break when used in soulcasting, so the enormous gemhearts of the chasmfiends will last longer. I'm also pretty sure the chasmfiends predated humans on Roshar.

This. Very much this.

Does anyone else think 'The Girl Who Climbed' may well be a metaphor for the first Human/Spren bond?

Teft tells us that there are 5 oaths for each order (which we know is wrong), but he doesn't know any of them beyond the first, and then proceeds to explain to Kaladin that he doesn't know much, all of what he does know is rumour, and so on. And as @Fulminato points out, nowhere does Pattern mention a number of truths. From his exact words ("Still a few Words to say"), we could even take it as Shallan is now a level 5 Lightweaver, since she said 'a few Words'. Now, just to be clear, I don't believe this is the case, I'm just pointing out how ambiguous this is. Finally, it's not about believing everyone is lying. It is about remembering that all of these characters don't know the truth for certain. All of the information they come by is from rumour, or second hand sources. Even Teft, who grew up as part of a cult that all but worshipped the Radiants, only knows tiny fragments.
-
And how many times have the books lied to us? Just because someone in the books believes it to be true, doesn't mean it is.
-
@maxal I think we're going to see the fallout from Szeth joining the Radiants in book 4. I can see why Brandon didn't want to weigh down the ending with everyone's reactions (which will be complicated) right at the end of the book.

[OB] Where are the Willshapers? (Spoilers)
Bort replied to Ataraxian Wist's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've always imagined Lifespren to look more like that. -
Probably, but it being Brandon, there is probably a reason for it.
-
That is probably the truth that takes the place of my #2 truth, so it would look like... 1. Life before death... 2. "I killed my father." 3. "Your Blades are all broken." 4. "I killed my mother." That said, before Way of Kings started, Shallan had already reached at least the third truth, so these truths are sort of more like relearning what she knew before, rather than swearing a new ideal, unlike "I killed my mother."
