  1. Yeah, it was in Newcastle, but I forget what the tour was for. I think it might have been Shadows of Self, but I could be wrong. His reaction was great. I'd love to see the transcription, if you've got a link. I tried recording it all, but was too far away from him to get a good copy. If you were there for that one, will you be going to the Oathbringer signing on 1st December? If so, I'll see you there Oh, and the question in this thread will be the one in my copy of Oathbringer, but I already have another one to ask him, unrelated to Stormlight Archive - How much fun was it to write Steris, and does she know more about the Cosmere than she is letting on to Wax?
  2. I'm hoping so. I've had that response from Brandon twice before, once while asking another question about Shardplate, and once when I asked if Wayne had really stolen a Ryshadium, or otherwise invested horse.
  3. Ummm, Chaos, I think I'm alright, but I had better report myself. I've just posted a Cosmere theory, and while it doesn't reference anything in the sample chapters, it does mention the images of the Heralds that were released recently. The thread is 'Shardplate WoBs', so if you need to edit anything out, feel free, and sorry.
  4. After reading Bands of Mourning, I think a better question would be to ask if Steris is a worldhopper, or otherwise Cosmere-aware. She references the Cosmere in a conversation with Wax, and he seems to have no idea what she is going on about, so I'm wondering if she knows more than she lets on.
  5. Sorry to disappoint, but this is a request for information, not a new WoB. I'll be seeing Brandon on the 1st December, and I was going to ask him something about shardplate. But, before I do, I wanted to check to see if it had already been asked. My question for him is this: Are suits of shardplate made up of the bonded Spren's 'lesser' cousins? If so, are they still alive? Then, if time and Brandon permits, I will go on to ask about the images from the US version of Oathbringer, with the Heralds - Does each image show the type of spren that would make up their orders' shardplate? If you look closely, one has Lifespren, one has Windspren, one has Gloryspren. The only one that doesn't have them is Ash, but for her and the Lightweavers, their armour would be Creationspren, so that could well be represented by the shards of glass/crystal and the masks on the ground. So, can anyone provide me with, or point me in the right direction for, WoBs on shardplate please? Thanks.
  6. Safehands becoming sexualised is pretty easy to explain. They're forbidden, and people always want what they cannot have. Think of how the concept of modesty has changed over the years. Once, it was scandalous for a woman to reveal her ankles, and people who did were considered shameless. I imagine the safehand is much the same thing.
  7. We did get a clue though, back in WoR. Pattern commenting about Creationspren. "Useless things. They never do anything. They just are." (Line is paraphrased since I don't recall the exact words he used). Also, Pattern is constantly shifting and changing, just like the Creationspren, albeit with more sentience. So, this brings me to my next theory, which I have believed for a few years now, and I know has some support on here, at least. When Shallan gets her Shardplate, it will be crafted of Creationspren. Kaladin's will be Windspren, Lift's will be Lifespren. I'm unsure yet about Renarin's or Jasnah's.
  8. Wasn't Amaram's precious cargo the Herald, Taln?
  9. The other thought I had about the Godspren is, if one of them is Honour's cognitive shadow, could the other two be linked to Cultivation and Odium? Or, if not Odium, then what about Adonalsium?
  10. They probably have one symbol representing the Godspren.
  11. Could it be Sadeas?
  12. I still can't decide. I'm torn between Jasnah and Dalinar. Although Dalinar hasn't yet seen into Shadesmar, that we know of, it could happen between now and when he writes the book. The comments about being a 'Godless heretic' also make sense for Dalinar, what with his claims about the Almighty being dead, or quite possibly not even God in the first place. The person he killed who loved him dearly, I'd guess, is Evi (or Adolin once found guilty of Sadeas' murder and possibly executed). Probably Evi though. The main reason I think it is Dalinar over Jasnah though, is the line, "I have no doubt you are smarter than I am." That doesn't sound like something Jasnah would say. On the other hand, the bit about seeing into Shadesmar and believing they were dead, really puts me in mind of Jasnah, at the start of WoR. The various mentions of heresy would be very easily explained with it being Jasnah too. Even the murder of the person who loved her, I doubt that would be her Spren, but which other death could she feel guilty for? Gavilar, perhaps? I would also disagree here with the comment left on the doc by Campbell Garver - Jasnah is dedicated to truth, so I don't think she would see herself as a philosopher. She would probably admit that there was some philosophy involved in what she was researching - myths and legends for the most part, but not that she was a philosopher.
  13. I'll be going to this one, and will likely have three books to be signed - Shadows of Self, Bands of Mourning, and, of course, Oathbringer.
  14. Sazed had his Copperminds when he ascended. All of that knowledge was dumped into his head during ascension. None of the other Shards would have that, which suggests that none of them would be able to pick up a Shard and immediately use it to it's full potential. Also, wasn't there a comment in Hero of Ages that suggests a Shard corrupts the holder and moulds them more into line with the Shard's intent? This was why Leras couldn't kill Ati, but Vin could. Both Leras and Vin held Preservation, but it hadn't turned Vin to the point where the instinct to Preserve overrode her natural instincts. I'll admit, I am using old data here, which may or may not have changed, or turned out to be untrue, or expanded upon. Namely, I haven't yet read Bands of Mourning, so I don't know how the information contained within will change any of this. Edit: I also like Ethan_Sedai's idea about Brandon trolling us all because we pay too much attention to such things.
  15. What will I do with my copy of Oathbringer? I will open it up, insert the post-it note that contains my question for Brandon, then turn around to him and offer it to him for signing and answering. I am sooo pleased he is coming back to Newcastle for Oathbringer
  16. Ok, that explains it pretty well. Thanks guys
  17. With particular regards to Miles Hundredlives... Gold Allomancy allows the user to see the different versions of themselves. Gold Feruchemy allows one to store up one's health for future use. Compounding involves using an invested feruchemical store as an allomantic metal. This allows the user to increase the power in their feruchemical store tenfold, but what I would like to know is, why does it release that power as feruchemy, and not as a more powerful version of allomancy? Does anyone know, or should I ask Brandon in December?
  18. It's just more proof that Wayne really stole a Ryshadium when he was younger. He once claimed to Wax that he stole a horse that belched in perfect pitch, and here we have musicspren following Ryshadium around. That's terrible. Have an upvote
  19. Well spotted. I hope you're right Having just read today's chapters, I have to agree with the others. I don't think it's Kandra.
  20. The storm shouldn't hit Urithiru anyways. The city is above the storm line, at too high an altitude. I'm pretty certain this is touched upon in one of the early chapters - how they have to lower their spheres down into a highstorm to recharge them.
  21. So as we have seen, Dalinar's curse and/or boon seems to be wearing off, and Evi is returning to his mind. The question is, why? Some people have speculated that it is some kind of effect from him now being a Bondsmith. Not a bad guess, but I disagree. I think it is a little more awkward than that. We're not sure what he asked for from the Nightwatcher, but either his boon or his curse was to forget the one he loved (or maybe it was phrased so he forgets 'his wife'). By this point, Evi was higher up the list than Navani, so she faded from his memory and became Shshshshsh. Now however, since Evi died, and Dalinar married Navani, Evi is coming back into his mind, and Navani is slowly leaving it. The bit I'm still not sure on though, is if this was the boon or the curse. Anyways, that's my speculation written up and posted. I look forward to seeing you all poke holes in my theory
  22. In your final meme, I've already done the first two options.
  23. My guess is that's because the Spren who are part of it are dead. As for how they used it, I would guess with difficulty. Or even, maybe carrying bags of spheres charged with Stormlight, and it is only after the Blades have started being bonded, that someone thinks to do the same with Plate.
  24. Not bad whimsical drifting I like this idea. I hope this is revealed as the truth when Adolin revives his Blade during his exile.
