Frustration Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I was away from home and have been unable to catch more than a talk or two live, and am slowly playing catch up. Dale G. Renlund's Saturday morning talk was incredible.
Bird Furious she/her/un/important Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The one today… before the guy speaking now… ugh I can’t even imagine
Frustration Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 18 temples. At one point that number would have blown my mind, but now it seems normal. 5

Mat he/him Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Tacoma is so close, yet so far from me Close enough to be exciting but also not close enough to give my ward a new temple. 1
The Wandering Wizard he/him Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I really liked the new book of Mormon video as I felt the spirit in every fiber of my being testifying to me that christ did appear. I've always had a testimony on it before, but now I can not deny that Christ appeared to the Nephites. 1
Chinkoln he/him Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The entire time I was watching the BoM video, I was just thinking “Imagine they cast Jason Momoa as Jesus Christ.” 1
Wizard Apocalypse100 Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Question: Do LDS members abstain from anything? For example, certain technologies such as the internet?
Chinkoln he/him Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Not religiously, but at times we decide to take a step back and “fast” from the internet of social media. We do this to help recenter our focus on God and Jesus. Also, we do religiously abstain from alcohol, drugs, smoking, wine, swearing, and premarital relations of a… personal nature. I’m probably forgetting some embarrassingly obvious thing we don’t do, but those are the big ones. 2

Idk my friend in real life is an LDS member and told me he can't drink coffee That is one of the things we believe, yes. Additionally we believe in the concept of agency, so I like to think of it less like I can’t drink coffee and more that I choose not to, following the council of those who came before me This website (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist) is super great about explaining our standards and beliefs and is much better about answering questions than I would be But to answer your opening one, we can use the internet, yeah. Since, yknow, this thread exists 2

Liahona Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 This conference is the best one that I can remember watching, not necessarily objectively, but I really, really loved it. This was exactly the spiritual buoying I needed. 1

Another one outside Dallas-Fort Worth!!! WOohoo!! this conference was super cool i loved all the talks, especially Elder Hollands talk ab iconography and why we don't use the cross. 1
S. Stormy she/her Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I think that the temple in Prosper is gonna make it... Prosper! Hehe. Get it? I'm so sorry. 3

One of my siblings made that exact same joke. 3 hours ago, CalanoCorvus said: Elder Hollands talk ab iconography and why we don't use the cross. I've noticed that in the last few conferences, President Oaks has given talks that seem just as much for those who aren't in our church as they are for those who are members. This time, Elder Holland followed that pattern as well, which was neat. 2
Going_North_cal Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 yeah i think it's really cool, especially because there is a lot of misinformation about the church. 2

Eran of Arcadia Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 To put the announcement of 18 temples in perspective: when I was born, more than 150 years after the Church was restored, there were a total of 20 temples. 4
