“Adventure indeed, Xino, my friend,” Jaywalk said. “Would you like to join our company of travelers?”

A portal opened behind him, and three people stepped through—a young girl dressed in armor, a reptilian man with dual blades, and a tall woman in mage’s clothing.

Xinoehp sniffed. "I've told you a hundred times, my name's not Xino."

But he took a step closer to the party, as if to examine them.

But they did have cool pictures. So that was something.

But they were only pictures of angry cockatiels (also known as pikabirds), for some reason.

”There is a secret door hidden somewhere.”

The mage stepped forward, mumbling a spell.

”It’s hidden from your eyes,” Jaywalk said. “The void hosts many a portal, but most lead to dangerous places where no man would dare travel.”

A blue bolt shot forth from the mage’s fingers, spearing a book and shooting into the wall. The wood began to swirl, changing colors, and revealed a second portal, to another dimension. It showed rolling green hills and a straight path leading over them. Smoke curled into the air behind the hill.

Jaywalk smiled. “After you.”

Luna decided to be that mentor character who knew everything but for some reason decided not to tell the main character any useful information.

LUNA HAD DECIDED NOT TO MENTION THAT FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, BUT APPARENTLY OTHERS FELT DIFFERENTLY.
