"Never! We must conquer this castle! FOR GLORY!!!!!!!" The companion runs straight at the border but a magical bond stops him halfway there. "Are you coming?" She asks. "I can't go unless you either give up or come."

"I... I will continue. For glory. We will be the first to best On-" The adventurer flinches, glancing at the realm of death. "I mean, the god of this land. Our names will be remembered for all time as the greatest of heroes."

Rym ducked under the monster's swing and parried the next one with his Mordite sword. As the monster reeled he stabbed it in the chest with the black blade.

The monster let out a cry of pain, pulling itself off the blade and falling backwards to the ground, body melting into ash. A moment later, it was back on its feet, form shifting into that of a tall woman with short brown hair. The creature hissed, eyeing Rym's sword warily and backing away. Its gaze flickered towards the fleeing guards, and before Rym could react the monster wheeled about, moving after the soldiers with inhuman speed.

The brave adventurer nods and nervously steps across the border of Onyx's realm.

The Plotblade vanished from Rym's hand, reforming in the grip of the monster as it dodged Rym's strike and stabbed one of the fleeing guards through the back. The unfortunate man screamed, lines of red energy flowing from the sword and burning his body to ash. The ash flowed into the Plotblade and the creature's form shifted once again, forming into that of the soldier. It hissed, rounding on Rym once again and unleashing a flurry of blows.

Rym teleported behind the monster, beheading it, then waiting for it to re-form.

It'll have to die sometime...right?

Right?

Rym spun to the fleeing guards and Narrated them somewhere safe. They vanished.

The creature spun on Rym, form now that of an old man with dark brown eyes and a greying beard. It attacked furiously, with no regard for its own well-being.

Rym rolled under the creature's attack, parrying it's strikes.

It'll wear me out at this point, he thought. This sword can kill Narrators! What's keeping this thing alive?

Rym spun and managed to sever the creature's wrists, knocking the sword to the ground again. He stabbed it in the chest, then grabbed the Plotblade, holding tight with magic in case the creature tried to re-summon it.

The creature screeched, struggling to force the blade from its chest. As it did so, ash began sloughing off its body and coating the ground, the monster's form shifting. One moment it was a young man, the next a grandmotherly woman, the a child. The monster gave up trying to remove the sword from its chest and instead attacked Rym, slamming fists with unnatural strength into his head as it continued shifting. The monster's attacks became more desperate desperate and ferocious as the changes accelerated, body after body burning to ash, white sands becoming hidden under a spreading stain of grey.

"You know, for someone who volunteered to come here, you sure are close to getting cold feet." She shrugged. "I guess those of us that are idiots will always be braver."

The brave adventurer shook his head. "Why did you want to come here anyways? Was it just the glory, or was there something else?"

Nothing happened. At least, not immediately.

The Ganderflaffle Gazette

By now all of our dedicated readers are probably wondering: What is this Plotblade that's so

powerful? How could one object in a set be so much more important than the rest? Well, these readers

are in luck. The Ganderflaffle Gazette has gotten a reporter into the castle of the dark overlord Onyx,

who is the undisputed god of a huge swath of TLT. After passing through the barrier of his realm, our

reporting team made it through the layers of monsters and unspeakable horrors. For more information

on these trials, visit our website, www.darkweb.com/ganderflaffle and read our latest story. However,

once our specialized team took out these unspeakable horrors (which shall not be spoken of), they

convinced Onyx to give them an interview. You can read the rest on our website, but by far the most

important revelation was that Onyx's Plotblade, the most powerful echo of the original Sword of Plot,

which was wielded by the legendary figure Plot and shattered when Plot fell, is the Plotblade of

'Suddenly, Pineapples.'

The creature stopped struggling, continuing to shift rapidly from form to form. Suddenly, the ash around Rym stirred.

A dozen glowing white ribbons of sand erupted all around Rym and the creature, two stabbing into Rym's arms, six others others wrapping around the two blades to pull them free of the creature, the rest of the ribbons pulling the monster away from Rym. The ribbons brought the creature back to its feet a few yards away from Rym, returning the ash-stained blade of Plot to its hands. The creature regarded the ribbons as if shocked at its ability to control them. Then it turned towards Rym, eyes full of hate.

"Half your reason, perhaps. I never really cared what it did. I'm only coming here so that I can be cured." The brave adventurer strode onwards, towards the center of Onyx's domain.

"Cured of what? I didn't know that you had an actual reason for coming here." She asks, jogging forward to keep up. "Now I feel a little bad."
