But the Daffodils didn't know that they were being manipulated by the strange mind-magics of the Peony Empire.

And so they were doomed to failure and death, in the end.

The Peony Empire was also conducting operations against the Tomato Menace.

[NameIess]

These operations included using the Daffodils as cannon fodder.

[NerdyAarakocra They/Them]

They had a hard convincing the Daffodils to get in the cannons, though.

[NameIess]

And the cannons didn't really like daffodils anyways.

[NerdyAarakocra They/Them]

So they decided to fire...

Pineapples.

[NameIess]

The pineapples hit the ground amidst the ranks of the Tomato Menace and exploded with great pineapply goodness.

This caused much chaos among the ranks of the Tomato Menace.

[NameIess]

And, coincidentally, completely ran Subversion out of purple ink. For now.

Meanwhile, the Peony Empire was busy bringing their plans closer to fruition.

[Immortal Platypus]

"It's okay, we're back to our normal amounts of ink. Mostly." Platypus says, then looks at what has happened. "Flame, I leave you people alone for some 20 odd hours, and you start a war?!"

[NerdyAarakocra They/Them]

"Do not mock the Peony Empire, Platypus. Soon you will cower in fear against the might of our subtle enchantments." Nerdy smiled. "It's nice to finally have a empire working for me."

[Immortal Platypus]

"I never mocked the so-called Peony Empire, Nerdy. I'm only doing so now that you've told me that they're using enchantments." Platypus smirked. "I don't fear your enchantments. But I have work to do. Plot (non-personified) to attend to. And I intend to find a way to bring Plot (personified) back, so we can get rid of these thrice-blasted swords of his. Please avoid getting in my way. It makes my job so much more annoying."

[NerdyAarakocra They/Them]

Nerdy smiled. "Make a wisdom saving throw."

[NameIess]

Subversion rolled a die. "19! Is that good enough?"

[Immortal Platypus]

"Well, now Nerdy isn't going to believe me. Thanks. I also got a 19. I just had to find my dice. When added to my Wisdom modifier, that's 23. When you add my proficiency bonus, its 29. That should be high enough."

Subversion frowned, reading a rulebook. "Says here that being a Narrator gives me a pretty hefty disadvantage to wisdom throws. Odd."

[Immortal Platypus]

"I think you're reading the wrong manual. That's 3rd edition, we play in 5th."

"Oh, I see." Subversion switched manuals. "Automatic fail? Who wrote this thing?"

[Immortal Platypus]

"Ssshhh. Don't let Nerdy know. That also might have to do with your class and race."

[NerdyAarakocra They/Them]

Nerdy's smile grew as an elegant sword materialized in their hand. "Yes. Don't try to rules-lawyer with me, Narrator." Nerdy smiled, feeling the weight of the sword in their palm. "Do you know what this is, Platypus? I don't do anything without a reason. Now, granted, that reason is usually frivolous, but anyway. You should recognize this. It's a Blade of Plot. While you were distracted by your WIS save, my minions have completed my goal. This is the Blade of Drama."

The spell began to take hold of Nameless and Platypus. "Sleep now, Narrators. You will not remember this."

Nerdy vanished in a puff of rainbow-colored smoke.

[NameIess]

"Is Narrator not a class? And a race?" Subversion frowned. "What were we talking about again? You were trying to introduce me to dungeons and dragons?"

Subversion glances around, confused. She decided that she must have failed a saving throw sometime.
