... of Fate, whose characters always got into plot no matter who they were. Sometimes, TVG wished that Sophie would open her eyes and see that plot wasn't so bad after all. But she did understand why her daughter was so averse to it.

A bright, purple figure coalesced in the air. Her facial features were so crudely defined that her eyes, lips, and nose could hardly be seen. She hovered above the ground, one foot behind the other and raised a motherly eyebrow. Narrator Astral, she said. The Queen of Shadows. What do you have to say for yourself?

The massive wave of darkness bleeding from Astral's form was sucked back into her and she paled, her hair falling still and settling to rest against her back. She slowly sunk to her knees and bowed her head. The motion of her legs was hidden by her long, silky gown, making the transition from standing to kneeling look unnaturally smooth. "TVG," she said, embarrassment in her voice. She stayed silent.

I know you don't like being trapped here - I don't like it either - but you must let the randomness cultivate.

"But my soul, your Majesty. I need sorrow so I can have sustenance to-"

You will have plenty of sorrow to feed upon once you find your way to CBST. Plenty of it. You can fast a little longer. You spent 300 pages without before, did you not?

"Yes..." Astral muttered tightly.

I know you are a creature of plot - as is fitting for one of my daughters - but I must ask you to be patient. Find something to keep your attention. The withergeists, perhaps?

Astral growled. "I want to kill Pheonix."

If TVG had had visible eyes, she would have rolled them. I know, Astral. You'll get your chance to do whatever horrible acts your rotting heart desires. But. Not. Now. I am a slave to Fate at times. But when you arrive... I will be freed. I can't have you ruining yourself. You must simply wait.

Astral tried her hardest not to snap at her master. She set her jaw. "I will... try... Your Majesty."

And the other half was otter.

So he decided to name it Buttotter but it was no bother.

But then Butt started to wonder: "Was Otter Butt better name for my unbothered Buttotter?"

"No," SoT muttered. "Let's sit here and do nothing. Fade away, so the plot can't swallow us up forever..."

You're just going to let the withergeists swallow everything up?

Sophie didn't reply, pulling her legs to her chest and resting her head on her knees.

Aqua floated up to eye level. Well? she challenged.

Astral sat on her knees after TVG left, the massive, black skirt of her gown flowing out around her. She was angry. Well, frustrated was a better word for it. She wanted misery. She wanted suffering. The TLTians seemed good enough at doing that on their own in a general sense, but there was no motivation, no true sorrow.

She waved in the air with both hands, two images popping up before her. One was of Jay and the other was of SoT. Little Sophie had herself wrapped in a forcefield, but Astral could tell that she was crying. Sorrow radiated from her. It radiated from Jay too. That one was broken by her actions. Echoes of life fluttered within her. She was hungry. This place wasn't enough. She needed the real stuff, not the off brand. She needed plot. Hopes to crush, hearts to break, love to destroy. She needed a goal. A reason. She needed Star and her so-called lover. Crush one and raise the other... The whole thing sounded like some sort of twisted prophecy. One she would gladly fulfill.

She exclaimed in anger, squeezing her hands into fists. She had to leave this terrible place.

*Finally finishes reading pages 769-798*  Oh hallelujah! That took waaaaay too long.

"Well well well, we meet at last Astral. Little did you know, but I've been stalking your every move for the last 29 pages!!!" said A.C., after returning from his month-long excursion into the phantom zone. "Have a dark chocolate-flavored emotional kitten!" If his research was correct, this would hopefully provoke an interesting reaction.

Astral eyed AC dangerously. She rolled her eyes and melted to sludge, her torso falling into the middle of her dress. The skirt of her gown folded in on itself and she snaked around AC's legs, slowly climbing upward....

"This doesn't feel weird at all."

He popped a party popper at the sludge in an attempt to make it stop climbing his legs.
