Also, I'll go digging around in previous Cycles, but didn't someone claim in PM's that they'd become a Magistrate role, that then got announced to the thread? I'd kind of assumed, perhaps prematurely, that that was down to the Teacher. Unless that's yet another hopping role that got passed after a certain amount of cycles or on death... Well, it's not that bad. There hasn't been much voting anyways. I asked about whether my vote just wasn't counted or whatever, and fRR said that I just wasn't supposed to vote at all, so I haven't. Yeah, I have no idea how to activate anything either. I've been thinking there's a role that can do it, but at this point, it seems like we'd have heard something about a role like that, considering how many people have asked for roleclaims and such in the thread. And the fact that so far only one player seems to have had a "Moment of Clarity." A player claimed to me, yes, because they'd heard I was the Teacher, so they thought I may have given them the "magistrate" role. All they said was that they had a "Moment of Clarity" and got the magistrate role. They told me they'd never had the doll(Alv asked me to ask them if they had at some point, I guess thinking that may have triggered the MoC). They also didn't know how they got the role.

Sadly it seems another holds the Doll for now. I do appreciate Bard trying to pass it to me. Shame it didn't work. I wonder if the reason the Doll was given to Bard on Cycle Four instead of Three is because fRR got very busy and was unable to send him the PM about the Doll. That's all I can come up with for the discrepancy. But that doesn't really explain why there was a kill that cycle.

I've asked in my PM if me receiving the Doll Cycle 4 and not Cycle 3 was down to some sort of GM error. Otherwise, I'm more inclined to believe that there are multiple dolls.

Even in the information trading game, that feels like it's going a little too far. Interestingly enough, I don't know the Magistrate, and I'd be very interested to know who they are and the nitty-gritty details of their role. And what happened to them to get them there.

I understand if you don't want to add names. If there are any roles that the thread doesn't know about, could you at least name what the role is and tell us what you know about what they do? That could still be enormously helpful.
Seonid he/him Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Unfortunately, I don't know any new roles. Not many people have been forthcoming with me, I'm afraid. Probably comes from trying to start an information network. Visibility creates wariness, and all that. Perhaps it's combined with the perception that I don't have anything really valuable to trade (not true, by the way, but if it were, it would be because it was a self-fulfilling prophecy). Obviously, Seer wasn't ready for a full-scale market test. It will be pulled from the market after this game. When version 2.0 comes out, it will be rigorously beta-tested first.

Or maybe that was a one time thing for one of the villagers to become a magistrate? I have the overwhelming urge to vote for myself though it will probably end with me dead and not any closer to finding out the killer. If I am passed the doll, I will let you guys know so you can all lynch me.

Assuming that it's the doll that does the kills. And it seems like refraining from the lynch is not a workable starting point. But I'm not sure what good lynching someone would do. We really ought to try lynching the doll's holder, I suppose. Anyone want to volunteer? If I had it, I would.

At least going by thread activity. The Doll should be passing this round. Hopefully to me but if not, then any active player would be good. Maybe we should lynch inactives so at least we have a greater chance of the one who gets it revealing themselves. Although I still suspect there is a new rule in place about not being able to talk about having the Doll until it passes.

If Bard wasn't killed because of something doll-related, I'm willing to bet it was because they were getting too close to an answer- which would imply that there is an eliminator team, or at least someone controlling the kills.
