Just to play devil's advocate: what are the chances this is from an interlude?

And then why "I'm sorry?"

It is what confuses me as well. Is he sorry that he can't help or is he sorry that he gave whoever is coming after 'Little Traitor' their location? We have so little info it is impossible to make a conclusive statement.

The all-caps suggest either the Stormfather (most likely)  Odium or Cultivation.

LITTLE TRAITOR - Little does lead us to think this is Syl, Ivory, Pattern or Wyndle  I think they have all defied the Spren to bond with humans again.

I AM SORRY - makes this more of a warning than a threat.

I am tending to lean to this is Syl, and the Stormfather is warning her that HE (Odium, or something ??????) is coming

Maybe there is a reason The Stormfather has forbid them to come to the physical realm for their own protection?

Not sure about ivory or pattern but wyndle was not forbidden. He was purposefully sent to bond with lift Edited by don_karma_II

I think he says sorry because he feels sad about what will happen to her. If this is the Stormfather and Syl, then that would makes sense: even though she disobeyed him and bonded with a surgebinder, she is still his 'child', so he regrets that someone is coming for her.

It could also be that the Stormfather unwittingly singled Syl out to whomever is now targeting her, I suspect Darkness. If Darkness is a herald it is possible that they have some connection or power over spren like the Stormfather.

If it wasn't for the all caps, I would guess Szeth said it. He has said I'm sorry right before attacking those he has been compelled to kill before. But the only way Szzeth could have an all caps line is if he was yelling, and I would expect him saying I'm sorry more softly.

Hey guys, just wanting to put this up here.

Like I'm sure a few other people, I jumped on this bandwagon a bit late. I've been going back through this and other forums looking for the earlier Glimpses. Decided to put them together into a google doc here. I'll try to keep it up to date as much as I can, but if anyone else wants to add to it let me know and I can give you permission.

Along with the all caps of this statement, not the lack of quotation marks. All the other glimpses stated by characters have had quotes. To me this indicates that it must be a deity/shard, which it seems is the consensus anyway.

Although this is also the only Glimpse so far that is purely dialogue. There's no need to distinguish dialogue and blocking so that might not be relevant.

"Have you given up on the gemstone, now that it is dead? And do you no longer hide behind the name of your old master?"

is Glimpse #5, which is why this stands out to me so much.

Haha, reminds me of the Dark One in Wheel of Time.

I definitely got that vibe too...

The 'I AM SORRY' seems regretful as im sorry it has come to this..

Off Topic the mysterious guy who killed the shoemaker is that darkness? is that the only time he has appeared?

Yeah, that's him. Darkness was in WoK prelude as well - at Gavilar's feast. He appears in Lift interlude and Jasnah's PoV in WoR, too.

Does he just lurk around and kill people he judges as Guilty?

More likely that he lurks around people he knows are Surgebinders (he seems able to detect it) and then kills them the moment he finds out they committed a crime. Justice.

So why would he be after Syl?

Does he see her as having committed a crime for going against the Stormfather's wishes?

It could be seen as a crime I suppose (though I don't), but how exactly does a human catch/harm a spren?  If Darkness can hurt Syl, then he has powers we haven't seen yet, may be something to do with division (assuming surges can do something to spren).

If it is Syl, then why Syl and not Kaladin? In Lift's POV he doesn't seem to notice or even see Wyndle at least not hear him.If he cannot see Wyndle how can he see Syl?

Perhaps he did see Wyndle, but it was Lift who broke the law. And we know Kal hasn't broken any law, but Syl disobeyed a direct order.

I am not entirely sure if it runs afoul of spoiler policy, but I was reading the Glimpses of Radiance thread on r/stormlight_archive and I found a comment on this Glimpse:

Have you given up on the gemstone, now that it is dead? And do you no longer hide behind the name of your old master?

Apparently, Hoid used a gem name in one of the unreleased Cosmere books. His name, Hoid, also came from his old master if you read the Liar of Partinel released chapters. It seems, based on this Glimpse, that there's a response to his letter in WoR. Which makes me question whether or not there's a worldhopping mail delivery service...

If this is too spoilerific, feel free to delete it admins/mods!

There's a YouTube video somewhere with Brandon talking about becoming a writer, and somewhere in it there's a manuscript page with underlined names of old characters he wrote when he was younger, and which new character they became. (Or if I'm misremembering, I still remember the image of the manuscript page is somewhere.) That's publicly available. If only I could remember where I saw it.

I don't believe you're violating any spoiler policy at all. If you are, then this whole thread is, since we've all been posting the Glimpses on here.

Anyways, good speculation. That is the general consensus on that glimpse.

Well, it's hinted at in TWoK anyways:

"Another time, I was named for a rock."

"A pretty one, I hope."

"A beautiful one," the man said. "And one that became worthless for my wearing it."

So it isn't too spoilerific anyways. Hoid didn't mention it was a gem, but a rock is close enough.

I don't believe you're violating any spoiler policy at all.

Spoiler policy is absolutely no discussing unreleased books with no sample chapters, which includes Aether of the Night and Dragonsteel. I'm not sure which novel the information about Hoid comes from, though.

Edit: Glimpse #13

"It's not a big deal. Dalinar Kholin is friends with one of the worst murderers I've ever met. So? Dalinar is lighteyed. He's probably friends with a lot of murderers."

Ooh, Kaladin having issues with Dalinar's relationship to Amaram, you say?

Rearranging it into a decent conversation goes like this:

"It's not a big deal."

"Dalinar Kholin is friends with one of the worst murderers I've ever met."

"So? Dalinar is lighteyed. He's probably friends with a lot of murderers."

Clearly this is Kaladin talking about Amaram. The question is, is he talking to Syl or does he explain things to Bridge 4?

This one seems more clear cut than most.  Kaladin talking to someone and referring to Amaram.
