Scriptorian he/him Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I decided to take the initiative and make a topic where we can all freak out about the upcoming "glimpses" until the actual release. Feel free to ignore this until next Tuesday . For those who don't know, now that the major previews are all out, Tor is doing some thingy where they release little snippets by email. You can sign up for it here. This finally got me to sign up for a Tor account. I'll probably be spamming the WoK reread with comments now. 1
Moogle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Clever way for Tor to get more users subscribed to their mailing list. I approve and can't wait for the first 'glimpse'. I hope it's an epigraph.
Oxus Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I'm very excited for this. I knew I was going to go into withdrawals after the chapter previews, but at least we get some tasty morsels.
Natans he/him Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I hope that they star with a boom, let say some Shallan art would be awesome =) 1
Argent he/him Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 The glimpses are on a separate mailing list. If you subscribe to them you won't get any more emails after the last glimpse.
king of nowhere Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 normally this is an editorial move to keep people intersted. but it's not much good in this case, as anyone who subscribes to this is already going to buy the book anyway
Moogle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) normally this is an editorial move to keep people intersted. but it's not much good in this case, as anyone who subscribes to this is already going to buy the book anyway When you sign up for a Tor account, it automatically subscribes you to Tor's mailing list for other books, so far as I can tell. Getting those of us with no Tor accounts to get an account lets them market other books to us. I think from a marketing standpoint this was a nicely done move. I could be wrong. I don't care either way, I just want more WoR. Edited February 4, 2014 by Moogle 2
EvilKetchupCow he/him Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 So much Tease.... I mean I would of driven to tor and paid for the book when they clearly had it...... And now daily snippets... Why can't they just give us the book already! yeah yeah I know, Logistics timing the book out nation wide etc etc. Tease Tease Tease.... Its like being in high school again.....
Gloom he/him Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Eh, well, since I get a password or username error every-time I try to sign up, it isn't doing a very effective job at getting me on their list.

+Aletus he/him Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 LOL I just hope it's more than a single sentence, like the memories of light for AMOL's release. They were horribly well chosen to be taken out of context.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 What do you think is more likely? Sentences well chosen to be taken out of context, or clear spoilers where you can figure out exactly what's going on? If it helps you decide: I approved each one. 13
PorridgeBrick he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I hope it's easily taken out of context, just for the sake of more crazy and totally inaccurate theorizing. 2
Ephemera she/her Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 If it helps you decide: I approved each one. Ah, then they will definitely be trolling us 1
+Aletus he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Glimpse: "Kaladin seemed to fly effortlessly through the air" In context: "as he fell drunkenly off of his stool" 11

ADIMORTIS he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Glimpse: They watched in horror as Szeth cut off Kaladin's head Context: rest; his favorite chair now lay scattered in pieces .. 7
Duskshard he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Glimpse: Kaladin embraced Amaram like a long lost brother... Context: As they parted, seeming to defy reason. Amaram fell straight up into the sky. Only to fall back down a minute later with a resounding splat!
lummi he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Glimpse : Kaladin ran his spear trough Amaram finally having his revenge Context : He woke up covered in sweat
The Rooster he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Anyone know what time they are going out each day? I'm assuming noon but you know what they say about making assumptions? "Assumption, this thing is for airsick lowlanders" 3
kobain Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 What do you think is more likely? Sentences well chosen to be taken out of context, or clear spoilers where you can figure out exactly what's going on? If it helps you decide: I approved each one. You're such a tease.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They will go out at noon Eastern time.
kobain Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Peter, on a previous tread you said you approved 30 "Gimpses" will Tor use all of them? 21 days left till release, and 30 glimpses. Some days we'll get more than 1?
Maresia he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Peter, on a previous tread you said you approved 30 "Gimpses" will Tor use all of them? 21 days left till release, and 30 glimpses. Binnut he/him Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 "Thirty-eight days," Renarin read. "The end of all nations." I thought that the first one would be a little more juicy than that but I am sure it will come when the release gets nearer. 1
