Arinian Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) 20 minutes ago, randuir said: Okay, so if Drake is staying in the pony, voting on him will not actually reduce the chance of anyone getting expelled, unless someone else is going to add some votes to him. I'm still annoyed/suspicious that the's started this round of voting this late in the cycle, but damage control takes precedence. I'm voting Ornstein and Cluny. The following people currently have votes: Wilson, Amanuensis, DA, HH, Arinian, Burnt, Mage, Queesteph, Alvron. Of these, Wilson has indicated she's saying at the golden pony, so the 1 vote on her on't go through. Ornstein, Alvron and Cluny could also possibly be staying at the pony (but that goes for everyone apart from the Vints and the Edema Ruh). That means the votes will be split over at least 6 people, which means an average of 7DP (45/6, thanks for the correction Wilson). Since people need at least 11 DP to be considered for expulsion, this should reduce the risk of people getting expelled significantly. Arinian, getting voted on sucks, but you're in a slightly better position to take a 2 talent penalty than people who get less than 10 talents in their stipend. Still it's random so looks like I have no choice, so I will change my votes. Sorry... Stick, Brightness. I just don't want to be expelled. And knowing my luck I will get 30 DP. RP: Spoiler Darian laid on the grass and looked in the sky. Dark grey clouds slowly gathered promising rain… very soon. You will ask what he was doing? He studied something? Or what? Answer will be… no. He just laid on the ground and was doing nothing, like he loved to say he was in “lazy mood”. That kind of mood was falling on him some time absolutely unexpectedly. And sometimes this mood lasted for hours, sometimes for days… and this time it lasted for month. All first month of study he was doing nothing even not tried to open book, none of Masters have seen him on lessons. And the most stupid in all this was that for this there was no reason. Also what I want to say about Darian that it was his fourth time when he tried to end study in University or better to say start it. First time his study lasted for 8 months. He even reached rank of Re’lar in first 5 months but then dropped study and joined traveling troupe of Edema Ruh. Returned to University he only year later. Edited May 2, 2017 by Arinian 1
Haelbarde he/him Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) @Ornstein That's not the point, I don't think. At this stage it's about spreading votes to prevent anyone being taken to the horns. And here's one I just prepared. Vote Tally: Wilson(1): Aonar{1} HH(1): Drake{1}, Drake{3.1} Burnt(1): Alv{1} Drake{0}: Rand{1} DA{5}: Burnt{1.1}, Joe{1.1}, Eol{1}, Drake{2.1}, Stick{1.1}, Arinian{1} Aman{4}: Burnt{1.2}, Joe{1.2}, PK{1.1}, PK{1.2}, Drake{2.3} Mage{1}: Wilson{1} Steph(1): Mage{1.1} Alv(1): Mage{1.2} Arinian(1): Drake{3.2} Ornstein(1): Rand{2.1} Cluny(1): Rand{2.2} stick(1): Arinian{2.1} Brightness(1): Arinian{2.2} Burgundy(1): Hael{1} @Arinian Have you removed your vote on DA? I haven't checked, but if you haven't, you'll need to do so. Think I'm going to put a vote on Burgundy both as a reminder to post more, and to spread the DP. (Edit: And to get a tuition reduction while I'm at it) Edited May 2, 2017 by Haelbarde 1

We could try doing this cycle without any votes, see how it goes. 11 hours ago, BrightnessRadiant said: @Paranoid King, I know I said that I wouldn't suspect you of being evil just because you started the voting, but reading back through your posts I got the feeling that you didn't care too much about what would happen to the people who got voted on. Everyone was repeatedly stating good arguments in the thread about why we shouldn't vote on that turn, yet you never removed your votes, or even appeared to consider trying to see their point of view. When turn 2 began you said that you had seen those posts, and considered removing your votes, but that their were already too many other votes to stop it at that point. That could be true, but I still don't like how you said others would probably have voted anyways if you hadn't. It would have been a good idea to at least try to get a no vote going. These are all just theories, and I kinda feel like you weren't trying to make anything negative happen. I just thought I should voice my thoughts on anything I thought suspicious(however minuscule). Current vote tally: Wilson (1): Aonar HH (1): Drake, Drake Burnt (1): Alvron Drake (0): Randuir DA (5): Burnt, Joe, Eol, Drake, Stick, Arinian Aman (4): Burnt, Joe, PK, PK, Drake Mage (1): Wilson Queensteph (1): Mage Alvron (1): Mage Arinian (1): Drake Ornstein (1): Randuir Cluny (1): Randuir Stick (1): Aranian Brightness (1?): Aranian Burgundy (1): Hael (Blue votes were cast only after I voted, but are included to make the tally complete.) This is what happens when I don't advocate voting for everyone. I "at least tried to get a no vote going." Now, imagine that last cycle, instead of bringing up the idea of spreading the votes 14 hours in, I let it ride and only brought it up once it was clear that a no vote wouldn't work. I'm already being criticized for bringing it up late last cycle. Would waiting even longer have made me innocent? 11 hours ago, BrightnessRadiant said: Everyone was repeatedly stating good arguments in the thread about why we shouldn't vote on that turn, yet you never removed your votes, or even appeared to consider trying to see their point of view. You mean like these people? Spoiler Hael: "A single complaint in a given month could guarantee expulsion, so were there any complaints, there needed to be many complaints so the load was shared and no one was expelled without cause. He mused that not complaining also left the skindancers an opportunity to potentially expel a student or even two, of their choice. Preventing that from happening would seem prudent. " (+) Brightness: " I can't tell if it's worth the risk." (?) Burnt: "People, be very very careful about voting for the Edemas." (?) Sart: "He also remembered he had 2 complaints to work with. He would of course use both of them, if that got him any more deductions" (+) Queensteph: "It's a solid idea though I don't really see how it helps (besides lowering tuition ,obviously). (although I guess it's better than no votes / random person getting voted on a lot since we don't know anything yet this first round!)" (?) Drake: "And I understand why non-ruh would find it a good idea too. In theory, if we could get everyone to cast votes evenly on everyone else, it would be a net positive (or maybe not I suppose, since this is a competitive game and ultimately if everyone benefits equally it does nothing for your odds of winning). But I'm looking at the voting counts and I don't think this is attainable." (-) Queensteph: " I don't really think the random complaint casting is worth it. I'd rather have 1DP then reducing my tuition by half a talent." (-) Burnt: " Only thing with a no vote cycle, someone could come in last minute and put a vote on someone. If only one person is voted on they would probably end up being expelled from memory. And that doesnt sound like a good thing to happen early on." (+) Randuir: " I am against voting D1, however, I'm going to vote anyway, namely on PK" (+) Brightness: " It's not going to give us any information, and it will only hurt those who you vote for. You get an inflation of 1 jot on your tuition every time someone votes for you. And you are more likely to gather DP unnecessarily early in the game. If you get brought on the horns you will also get an inflation on your tuition(2 talents)." (-) Mage: " I'd like to spread out the votes and not get someone - especially me - expelled first turn. " (+) Randuir: " if you are just voting randomly to decrease your tuition, but not everyone is doing the same, you're seriously hampering the power of some villagers(possibly an elim, but those chances with random votes are about 20% or less), as they lose either money, EP or both, and can get role-blocked due to lashings. " (-) HH: " I'll be getting a tuition reduction out of Mage, because if he's already been to the Horns, why not again? " (+) Randuir: " your current action will only serve to harm the village, at no great gain to yourself. (Because Mage has already been voted on) Unless you're a skindancer, of course. " (?) Stick: "I'm likely to vote on someone random" (+) Drake: " Voting literally gives us 0 information. " (-) Total: (+2). DrakeMarshall he/him Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Some RP now. Greyson walked out of his introductory physicking class. Not my favorite field, but... Well, I guess somebody has to do it. He had a window of time between physicking and sympathy. It occurred to him that in all his time at the University, he'd never had a proper chance to visit Imre. Probably not enough time for that today, but... Maybe sometime. Instead he decided to see if he would be allowed to see Ryth in the crockery. Greyson figured Ryth had just cracked under the stress... But the masters didn't seem to think so. There was talk of skindancers again. Greyson wasn't the suspicious type, but... Well he still kept that iron poker in his room. If anywhere could secretly house skindancers, it would be the University. Anyway, he wanted to see Ryth for himelf. He stopped at the entrance to the crockery. A giller from the medica seemed to be keeping watch over the insane. "Excuse me, but would it be possible to visit Ryth? The one that went insane a few days ago." A tired expression crossed the physicker's face. "You're maybe the eighth student who's come by. I can't let you visit Ryth." "Really? Why?" "Masters' orders. Sorry." "Did any of them say why, by any chance?" "You heard the rumors... Masters've been talking about skindancers and all. Seem to be taking it pretty serious. Maybe they want to investigate." They really think these skindancers are credible? "Very well. Thank you." Greyson left the crockery in search of his next class. He wouldn't be surprised if another student cracked soon. Accusations had been flying every which way recently, and tensions were high. The accusations part might not have started except for his own big mouth... Still, he had to make learning a priority. There wasn't much he could do to fight faerietale monsters... Unless he studied them. 2

DeTess she/her Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) “Sorry, coming through!” It was the evening of the last day of the term, and Telar was almost running late. His legs felt like lead as he made his final sprint to get to the archives in time, while trying to not run into any of his fellow students. His back was killing him as his heavy load of books was wearing him down. With a final burst of effort he ruhed through the doors and put his heavy pack on the desk near the entrance. “Just in time!” he managed to pant. “Only if this is indeed everything.” The student manning the desk said. “You know, you could have tried bringing these back earlier? You wouldn’t be risking a fine that way.” The student started slowly going through the books, checking them for damage, and then crossing them off a list in front of him. “Well, yes, I realize that now.” Telar tried his best not to look too guilty. He had only been reminded that he needed to hand all these books back before the end of the term a couple of hours ago. Before that he’d thought he’d just be able to keep his own private library in his room until he was done studying. Telar waited patiently as the other student checked the third batch of books he’d brought in. After a moment, the older student spoke up again. “If I might give a piece of advice? Focus one or two subjects next term. You must have been running yourself ragged trying to keep up with all these courses.” “I can handle it.” Telar said, though in truth he’d lost a lot of sleep the last week or so finishing all the work he’d had to do. “Ah. Then there must be some other reason you look like you haven't slept for a week straight” The student put the final book down. “You’re sure that this is everything? Nothing left in your bag?” Panic gripped Telar as he looked through his back again, but he’d handed it in every book he’d brought. He’d even checked his room twice to make sure he wasn’t forgetting anything. “Nothing?” The other student asked. “I assume you know the fine for handing books in late?” Telar sighed, then moved to grab his coin pouch. “Luckily, for you, you’ve actually handed in everything in time. Just try not to leave it this late next time. I normally get to go home a bit early on the final day of the term.” He handed Telar a note confirming he’d returned his books. "Now get going, and try not to overwork yourself. One person cracking this term is more than enough." Edit: Apologies for the double post. Edited May 2, 2017 by randuir 2
DrakeMarshall he/him Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Speaking of RP tuition reductions, I'm going to continue my RP because I still have some time. Greyson struggled to create his first sympathy binding. He held a candle in one hand, staring intently at the hearth, mustering his Alar... He would light it. The candle and the fire, they were really the same, and the heat could flow from one to the other, and... Nothing. Again. He would figure this out. He wasn't going to go to sleep until that candle lit! It was going to be a long night. 1

Everyone was really getting tense now. Maybe a trip to Imre was what everyone needed to give their minds a break. She felt like she was going to go insane from all of these notes she had been keeping on her fellow students for the whole term. Stupid Skindancers! Why weren't they easier to spot? She was tired of suspecting every student she passed, or sat by in class, or even tried to approach her. She wished for someone she could truly trust with her mission. She had been several times to see her brother Corrin, the master Archivest. He had tried giving her advice, but she had even begun to worry if he had become a skindancers! She was even worrying about her own brother!? She needed a break for sure. Imre, she decided was a very good idea. Edited May 2, 2017 by BrightnessRadiant added RP 1
