Other than this Analyst, who I will now consider to be fake, can we talk about the protection?

Of course, We don't know if it was an assassin or someone just protecting someone on the streets, but either way I still think we should discuss it.

Posted

We should have the Analyst confirmed by next turn. I'm going to withhold any other information about it until that happens. Until then, please just be satisfied with the knowledge that the Confirmed circle are working on it.

Hael, neither Dow nor DC were scanned before their insanity, so we could have gotten lucky there, I suppose. One can only hope.

Hm. If I don't get in contact with the Analyst before the turnover, we may need to wait a turn for that confirmation. I realize that this will test some of your patience; go ahead and react i whatever way you have to.

Posted (edited)

Wonko the Sane, just please do something instead of hiding behind either an analyst or a Confirmed group.

EDIT: Removed vote and added plea for something

Stink, Joe. You are two of my top suspects. Stink, seems off and is also the Vintish i suspect most. Joe because you also seem to have opinions that only help the skindancers.

Term 5: Month 2 - In the Eye of the Storm

Wilhelm Mint was on the trail of the Amyr. Maybe he wasn’t the last of them after all. He’d picked up a lead during all his time in the Archives and had given up the idea that he actually cared about his studies at the University. He would find his people, if it was the last thing he did.

He was lounging in his rooms at the Golden Pony when he received the summons to go before the Masters. He rolled his eyes and wondered what they could possibly want from him. He was a student in name only. But he sighed and soon after, he stood in front of them, on the Horns.

They accused him of all sorts of things. The Master Physicker was adamant that Wilhelm had been sneaking into Medica and stealing things, but that claim was utterly preposterous. What need did Wilhelm have for medicines? He was an Amyr. He didn’t even bother trying to contain his lack of interest at the Master Physicker's words.

He looked at his nails and pursed his lips. They were chipped and there was a lot of dirt underneath. His father would be ashamed. Well, the man who forced Wilhelm to call him father--for Wilhelm knew that that was a sham. Such a man couldn’t be the father to an Amyr. But he’d looked after Wilhelm for many years and therefore, he had affinity for the man. And he did rather like looking his best. He’d have to see about getting his nails worked on.

Someone cleared their throat and Wilhelm looked up. All the Masters were silent, staring down at him. “Yes? Did I miss something in your blathering? Have you finally decided how ridiculous you all are?” They looked angry at that, and Wilhelm realized they must still think themselves very important.

“I’ve changed my mind,” the Master Namer said. “Expulsion is too good for the little git. Fire would be much more appropriate. Burn him right out of existence.”

Wilhelm cocked his head to the side. “Expulsion? You wish to expel me? I’ll save you the trouble. I’m withdrawing from this institution. I’m about to find my people anyway, so I have no more need of you. Good day.”

He nodded his head and walked out of the room without a backwards glance. The Masters didn’t try to stop him, though they did send someone to follow him and make sure he left the University. As if he would stick around. Good riddance to them all.

-

“You can move back, you know,” Wilem said to the hulking figure towering next to him. “As long as you stay close, I’m sure everything will be fine. And anyway, you’re scaring off the lovely women here. You could at least be my wingman if you insist on standing this close.”

Wilem was beginning to regret hiring this bodyguard. Useless thing, if it meant he couldn’t even fool around. He hadn’t had a sleepless night in weeks. Well, okay, he’d had sleepless nights, but not that kind of sleepless. It was shameful. If his friends found out….or worse, if other noblemen found out….he’d be the laughingstock of the University. He’d never live it down.

A pretty girl with long, braided hair walked by. What Wilem wouldn’t do to let that braid out. She looked like she’d be a bit of fun, if she didn’t have her hair so tight. Wilem grinned at her, and she looked at him. Her step faltered and then her eyes darted to the bodyguard. And she hurried on. He scowled.

He felt a stirring in the air as the wind picked up a bit around him. It felt good at first. It was a hot day, and a bit of a breeze helped cool things down. But then a sudden gust of air shot by him and hurled his bodyguard against a nearby building.

Wilem shot to his feet and stared at the broken body of his bodyguard. He gasped and spun in a circle. What was that? he thought. And then it occurred to him. A Namer. His eyes widened and he tried to run out of the square, away from the fountain he’d been sitting on.

He was nearly to one of the streets heading back toward the bridge when he fell to the ground in pain. Such pain. It felt like every bone in his body was breaking. Oh dear lord. Make it stop. He clutched his body and curled into himself, trying to rid himself of the pain.

And then he blacked out.

When he finally came to again, the pain was gone. In fact, he couldn’t feel a thing. He felt high. It was nice. He could get used to this. He glanced around him, but there was only white walls and white sheets. Everywhere was white, and for a moment, he thought he’d died and this was the afterlife. But no, that couldn’t be. His afterlife would contain women. Lots of women. Women everywhere. All kinds of women, for Wilem needed a variety to not get bored. But this wasn’t variety. This was just white. He hated white. He also hated rooms without women.

He went to swing out of the bed, and then all of sudden, that high feeling retreated and the pain was back. Oh boy was it back. He fell back into the bed, squeezing his eyes tight. He heard a door open and hurried footsteps.

“What are you doing? You shouldn’t be getting up! You’ve been horribly injured!”

Wilem didn’t care about horrible injuries and not getting up. That was a female voice. It was like the gods had heard his plea and taken pity on him. He opened his eyes and when he saw her, he almost stopped breathing. She was gorgeous. He’d thought Varda had been pretty, but Varda was nothing compared to this creature. Wilem decided then and there that he’d stay in that bed for however long she told him. And he’d try his darnedest to get her into it too. Oh, yes he would.

These people were elevated: Pyra Ghetti and Wilhelm Mint

Wilhelm Mint (irulelikeSTINK) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. He’s been expelled!

Reader (The Only Joe) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. He has also been expelled!

Wilem (Maiiliw73) was attacked. He is recovering in Medica.

One thing I forgot to mention in the writeup: someone used an item.

Posted

Sooo, Mailliw suspiciously voted on 2 players and then got attacked. Huh.

I should be able to return to my normal talking self sometime tomorrow! Yay! Although now I have a lot to review. :/

Posted (edited)

The item used was ine, the skindancers tried to sabotage me, but I had protection. I really wish I knew why they came for me… I don't really think I would be a very big target for them, but I guess it was just random.

Also, reading the write up, he was atttacked by a namer… and the master namer was the one who'd been so angry and saying that they should burn him out of existance… does this mean that there's a PC master, and that that PC master is the master namer, and that he/she attacked him?

It's just a thought, I might be drawing connections where there are none… but it just stuck out to me.

This al raises the question though, would we know if a player had been elevated to master?

We would know. If a player is elevated to master, it will be an elevation in the writeup. So I don't think we have any Masters yet.

Good thought, though.

I was the attacker. Maill survived because Bone isn't strong enough to kill. But this was all Clanky's idea, and he promised he would take the blame if it went wrong! Please don't hurt me!

This last turn has caused me to grow significantly more suspicious of my Analyst. Not only do they seem to resist the plan to confirm them at every turn, but some information to which only they were privy has leaked out somehow. It's still possible that we were victims of PM spies, but I would be wary of them for now.

Their scan last night failed. They scanned Haelbarde, even though I had already relayed the fact that Hael had lied publicly. They had plenty of time to change it. They have cited real-world stress as the source of this lapse, and I am still willing to believe that -- but it is just one more stroke against them.

They have promised to cooperate with the test this round. If they fail to do so, I intend to reveal their name so that we can kill them, and find out their alignment that way.

I thought you were only going to reveal my involvement if he died and was a student.  :P  Anyways yeah I did tell him to attack Maill. Also I'm inclined to agree that the analyst is losing my trust.

Clanky, can I ask why you wanted me attacked? That worries me. I'm now roleblocked for three turns and am an easy target for the Skindancers.

Why did you last minute vote on STINK and Joe? So you could get them expelled and actually kill someone with your sabotaging? I don't see any other good explanation.

Why does you getting roleblocked make you an easy target? Wouldn't that make you less of a concern since you can't do anything? And why don't you have Nahlrout? It's an easy solution for blocking lynches and I very much doubt that you don't have some and so I think that you're not actually roleblocked at all.

Because they were my top two suspicions and I saw an easy opportunity to have the lynch actually matter for once.

Because now I have no protection and can't buy anything or use any role. The more I think about it, the more I suspect Clanky. I told him I had a bodyguard. He was the only player who knew about that. The reason I see for him to kill me is that he'd get Wonko to take ou tmy protection, making me perfect for him to sabotage and send to the Crockery. The only doubt I have about him being evil is that he was the first player to go insane. I don't see much reason for a WGG that early in the game. But because no one would suspect it, it makes just the slightest amount of sense. And if the skindancers were ever to pull a WGG, that'd be the time for it, as they'd have the most chances to break out.

Posted (edited)

He was unbelievably lucky to break out, and even so, he's crippled. I'm sorry, I just can't see them taking that chance. And if they did, it was a terrible, terrible idea.

Maill, as he explained it to me, he called for the attack because he caught you in a lie last round that no Villager would have any reason to make. Something about who you had and hadn't used your abilities on.

Also, what does WGG stand for? I've gathered what it means, but this is still bothering me.

Yes, I agree. Which is why I'm confused. The only reason for a WGG is that the skindancer would be almost 100% trusted when they broke out.

That's a lie in and of itself. I didn't lie to Clanky I told him, he's the one player I trusted almost completely. I may or may not lie to most players, but not him.

Sabotaging one of their own does make sense actually. The win condition for Students is to KILL all the Skindancers. So even if he doesn't ever break out, he's only insane, not dead. I don't really know if they'd try that though. I know that getting attacked by the Skindancers is not as much of a confirmation as it usually is with eliminator attacks.

I'm interested about this supposed lie. I'm always a sucker for elaborate plots, so this is very intriguing to me. Maill, I'm still pretty suspicious of you though. Getting 2 players expelled like that just doesn't seem right to me.

WGG stands for Wounded Gazelle Gambit. It's where the eliminators attack but protect one of their own to try and gain trust for that individual of their team. So in this case, it would be where the Skindancers decided on Cycle 1(very early for a plan like this, but still possible) to sabotage one of their own so that players would believe he was innocent and then if he broke out he'd become a trusted player and if he didn't break out he probably wouldn't be killed unless there was only a couple players left.

Exactly. It's one of the few games where a D1 WGG is even much of a possibility at all. It's still not super likely, as it'd require quick coordination early on, but possible. And in this game, that's the best time to do it, if ever.

I don't recall lying to Clanky at all. It's possible that I did, but I really don't remember one. Most of my time this week has been focused on my MR, so I haven't been paying a ton of attention to this game. Getting two players who were some of my top suspicions was my best option. I considered it the day before, but decided against it, but when again, there didn't seem to be any kind of lynch, I decided we needed the information more.

Posted

What information? That's the biggest critical difference about this lynch -- we don't learn anything from it. It is exclusively an offensive weapon. It can't be used to gain information, only to act on it.

The supposed lie was that of the abilities you claimed to Clanky, only one was capable of targeting players. You claimed to have targeted Stink with it, and no one else. Yet, we know that you also targeted Danosaur with something.

So, do you have an explanation for this discrepancy?

Posted

Well things picked up quickly…

reminder: everyone needs to put the "I'm not a sskindancer tag at the end of their post. Our possibly evil analyst needs to put that in their post to be scanned properly and if nobody but them does it, then they'll be a glowing target for the skindancers if their innocent. so put that tag so the analyst can be scanned without revealing themselves.

We learn a slight bit. If sabotages only come upon those in Imre, we know it was more likely that the expelled students are skindancers. Also, I'll admit to doing it partly out of self interest. I would rather not have two players who I suspect openly stay in the University. If they are, they very well might sabotage me and I could end up in the Crockery. I've been intentionally staying away from there. Though your attack obviously got me closer to death. Now, actually, I suspect you. I think one of either you or Clanky are definitely evil, but which, I'm not sure. I know that before, when I was evil, someone makes a suggestion about an attack on someone and I take it, because I know attacking that person won't hurt my team.

Ah, I just reread that PM. So, I didn't outright lie to him, but I'll admit that I didn't divulge everything to him, for the reason that I've still got slight suspicions because of that chance of a WGG. I targeted Dano with the same ability I used on Stink.

Edit: I am not a Skindancer.

I suppose I have been hiding behind Clanky somewhat. It's true that he talked me into taking action, but that would not have been possible if I were not already very suspicious of you. Surely you cannot fault me for acting aggressively regarding our suspicions, when you yourself did the same last cycle?

You have not said anything to ease those suspicions, but I will, against my better judgement, hold off on a further attack. That may change in three turns, when you become a threat once again.

EDIT: I have just confirmed that the Analyst was online today, but has still not opened themselves up for scanning. I warn you that I am not bluffing. IRL problems or no, if you do not comply with this, I will see you dead.
