I propose putting the inactives on the mission: Anamaximder, Shallan, and Phatt especially. This way, we see how active they actually are. If they die, then we don't have to waste lynches on them and we also won't have the situation where we're stuck with a bunch of inactives at the end.

I'm still suspicious of Ada for doing exactly what he always called out Hellscythe and I for doing in the past couple games.

Firstly, I think it would be a good idea to define how I'm using the term "inactive" for this post. If I say inactive here, I mean that the player hasn't gotten on the 17th Shard.

I still think it would be a better idea that if we did put an inactive on the mission, we should only put 1 on it. That way, if the missions succeeds, we'll know that player is an eliminator. If the mission fails and they die, that's an inactive down, and 3 players protected from death. If the mission fails, and someone ELSE dies(besides the inactive I mean), we'll know that the inactive is evil, as well as one of the other two surviving players. If the "inactive" comes online during the Turn, it's possible they could send in an order, but that wouldn't really be a bad thing, especially if they succeed it. The only problem I see with this is that it will cut our numbers down faster.

Anyways, Shallan was last online about a half hour after this Turn started, and phattemer was last online about 15 minutes after this Turn started(he posted right after the end of the last Turn). Anamaximder hasn't been online for about 36 hours. I don't know about everyone else, but these 3 are usually the most inactive. I guess I'll check some more online times and see if anyone else could be labelled "inactive."

Edit: Oh yeah, now I remember the biggest issue with the "put an inactive on the mission" plan. It's that if the player gets online, but doesn't vote in any way for the mission, and is loyal, so they die, we won't be able to tell if they died because of inactivity(or "not voting" in this case), or because of an eliminator voting to fail the mission. I don't see this as a very likely scenario, but I guess it could cause unwarranted suspicion on those who were on that mission. So I guess I will just say that players should pay extra attention to who gets picked for the mission, so if you get picked, you know you need to send in a PM to the GM and not let this happen!

I think putting an inactive on a mission (if there is one who isn’t logging on at all) could be a good idea later on when it is more likely the traitors will want to make a mission fail. That way an inactive will die instead of an active villager when the mission was likely to fail anyway. For now, however, I think it is better to put together a group of active players because it is unlikely the traitors will reveal themselves by failing missions yet. That way we have some active villagers protected from the traitor kill and we don't whittle down our numbers too quickly.

Also, for the people thinking about killing inactives, I think it would be good to remind you that we need to have at least four villagers alive at the end of the game. If it is necessary, it would be better to get rid of inactives conservatively (by having them die in place of an active on a mission, for example) than to just lynch them because we need a kill. If a lynch is going to an inactive because they haven’t said anything, it might be better off as a tie this game. For lynches it is often better to put pressure on active players than vote on inactives because they aren’t posting because active players are more likely to respond, so discussing and voting for active players, even if it doesn’t end up with the lynch on them, gets us the best information.

Also, with the four villager requirement, it would be nice if we have an assassin alive with their power still unused at the end of the game so if it is obvious who the eliminators are but we don’t have time to lynch them all and keep enough villagers alive the assassin can take care of them. Although using your power to 100% confirm someone (since false trails won’t mislead it) might be good instead--later rather than sooner unless you think you'll die soon though so they are less likely to randomly die and so you can clear/kill a top suspect.

Turns out, I wouldn't mind going on the mission Luckat.

I’ll note that down. Since you went on the last mission and there’s no objections to my earlier list, however, I don’t think I’ll put you on this mission.

So far I think I’ll stick to the list I posted at the beginning of the turn for the mission. If there’s any other thoughts about it or objections, let me know. I’ll be on again before the players for the mission have to be selected. However, I will probably not be on during the last couple of hours of the cycle, so any thoughts about this mission should be said before then.

I forgot earlier, but I suppose it would be good for me to comment on Burnt’s death. I think she was chosen because she was talking to a lot of players and was a good player for them to get rid of, but she wasn’t high profile enough for them to expect her to be protected. It is likely she was also chosen because her death doesn’t point to anyone in particular--and I don’t really think it does point to anyone in particular, so there isn’t much to learn about who is on the eliminator team from it.

In my PM with her, we talked a bit about who would be good to put on missions. We agreed the first few missions weren’t likely to fail. She said other PMs she was in were mostly off topic.

Why is Stink’s vote on Maill in the writeup? I thought he retracted it. It can’t be a Well-Connected because Stink was on the mission last night and so couldn’t be targeted. Was it just missed?

Yeah, I missed the retraction. Fixed (thank goodness it wasn't something that changed the results).

The Planning Phase is over! The players selected for the mission are: Dragonsight, Clanky, Star Thief and Lucy. The Night Turn will be over at 8PM on Sunday.

Bother. I said I would be contributing this weekend, and here I am, tired even before dinner time. Well, I would like to say that I have found Mailliw to be a little suspicious this cycle, but maybe that is a common reaction people have to him, so I'm not sure. If I had to place a vote right now it would probably be on him, but this is a night cycle so I'm all good.

I appreciate how STINK has been playing, since it makes him a little easier to read.

Luckat seems to be more active than I remember, but this is more of a good thing than something to suspect. I just wanted to put it off as a little inconsistent with my memory.

Yeah. I'll maybe be back tomorrow if homework doesn't take all day.

Lopen sat at his table, tapping his foot as he downed the last of his drink.

I wonder how the mission is progressing. This waiting is terrible. We didn't take this long on our mission did we?

He signaled for another drink. I guess I've just got to be patient and hope that all goes well.

Day 3: A Date with Ironeyes

Locke Tekiel left the bar earlier in the Night than the others. The others were pouring over plans and suggestions of how to use the knowledge they gained from the previous days events; the locations of Lone Shard cameras and stations. They needed eyes for this mission, and twenty-odd crews did not have enough between them. So, it was suggested, why not use their enemies' ones while they were at it? It would at least tell them what they thought was valuable enough to protect.

But Locke had other plans this evening, ones he hoped would prove less dangerous. Though considering he was meeting up with a friend on what he hoped might progress into some kind of date with her, he was no less nervous. For good reason too; he'd had his eye on her for some time, and did not want to screw it up. Even in the slums outside the Megacities, he was determined to find a diamond in this rough.

Their meeting-point was pre-arranged, a quiet little bar not too far away from his current base of operations. It was a good thing too, as the meeting overran, and he was determined not to be late. He was running, even though he knew he'd arrive out of breath. But he couldn't make her wait. That would be the worst thing imaginable, it would completely shatter his chances before they had even begun.

The bar was upmarket, and relatively clean. No Mistrunners here, other than himself. It was a good place to start the night off. He entered it with his head held high and looked around to see if she was there. She was not, and so he went over to the counter to purchase something while he waited.

She arrived a few minutes after he did, and was apologetic in a way that he found very endearing. He got off his barstool to greet her as nonchalantly as he could, almost knocking the stool over in his eagerness. He asked how she was, made a small joke, and asked what she would like to drink. So far, so good. All according to plan.

They found a small table out of the way and started to talk. It didn't take long for him to start to feel nervous, to start to sweat, even though the bar was cold. His head felt light and dizzy, and he struggled to concentrate as he continued to talk to the love of his life. It was kind of amusing, he felt, as he tried to reply to something she had said. She literally left him breathless. ...Thinking about it, perhaps it wasn't her.

He keeled sideways off his chair, what was left of his drink falling out of his hand, the glass smashing on the floor. The lights swam in and out of focus. His hand slipped on the remaining alcohol on the floor as he tried to push himself up. His date was panicking over him, which was nice to see. His head lolled around as he tried to muster the strength to do anything. Above the heads of the other patrons, he saw the barkeep give him a cheeky grin and a wave, before disappearing out the back door before anyone could ask him to phone the emergancy services. Locke tried to stand again, but couldn't manage it, his hands slipping and unable to get a grip.

'Maybe I'll just lie here for a while,' he thought, as his vision started to fade. "Yeah," he muttered to himself. 'I'll get up in a minute. That sounds good...' he thought, as he slowly slipped into unconsciousness. 'Just a minute...'

One turned into two. Two into ten. Even being loaded into the DocWashington ambulence failed to stir him. Ten turned into an hour. And then, as the poison finally finished working its way through his systems, into eternity.

“I don't like this,” Gamic muttered. “It don't sit right with me at all.”

“None of us like it,” Rowan responded in a whisper. “But we have a job to do, remember?”

“But why do we have a job to do?” Gamic asked, rounding on his partner for this mission, ignoring the hushes he got in response. “Why in the Survivor's name do we have to sit here on this freezing sodding roof and kill one of our own? Mistrunners killing Mistrunners? It just ain't right!”

Rowan sighed, continuing to look down his sight at the doorway. “The world isn't right, is it though? If the world was perfect, we wouldn't be on this roof like we are. But we need to eat, and we need money for bribes and Spikes and whatever. The most distasteful jobs are the most lucrative, particularly with the source we've got backing us.”

“...I still don't like it,” Gamic muttered, turning back and folding his arms.

“You don't say,” Rowan replied. “Sense anything?”

“Just a couple of Archivists,” Gamic said, shrugging. “No Tineyes or anything dangerous.” He wasn't looking at the scene, he didn't need to. He was only here to provide support for Rowan, to keep an ear out for Metalborn that could screw this up. “Which I guess makes our job easier. Which I still don't like.”

“If you dislike it so much, why not simply quit?” Rowan asked. “I think I've got the right angle here,” he added, mostly to himself. “Simply leave this life, go and get spiked by the bastards and work for them on the level instead.”

“Maybe I will,” Gamic replied petulantly, before wincing. “Ah, Hell no. I couldn't do that, that wouldn't be right either. I'd just join a different crew. One more careful about jobs, you know...” he cast around for the word.

“Discerning,” Rowan supplied. He then sighed. “I have to admit, I have been feeling a little... annoyed with this as well.” He reached into his belt pouch and took out a bead of metal, which he swallowed. He then took a thin tube out from another section of his belt, and a syringe from his coat, his rifle resting on his shoulder. Zinc and brass in a single tube. “Maybe I'll come with you,” he suggested, as he drew the liquid in the tube into the syringe, and injected it into himself. Immediately he started storing. Later, a Leecher would remove the spike he had just injected from his body entirely, almost rendering it a safe, if temporary, method of using Hemalurgy.

“Maybe,” Gamic said, non-committally. “That'd be pretty cool of you, yeah?” He tensed slightly, listening carefully. He straightened out, and Rowan stopped storing.

“They moving out?”

“Yeah,” Gamic said with a nod. The door below opened in his sight. “Looks like it. Yeah, there's that Miller guy and his-”

Rowan burnt the cadmium he swallowed, and started withdrawing from his metalmind of the same metal. He could compound it, by why would he? It already did what he needed it to do. Outside of the bubble, Gamic's words stretched out to infinity, his motions comically slow to him within his fast-time bubble. Rowan meanwhile was already in a position to pull the trigger, his body motionless thanks to his newfound lack of a need to breathe.

He waited for a heartbeat, waited for the perfect shot as his injected zinc spike calculated an impossible set of angles and ricochets, and pulled the trigger. The bullet shot out from the rifle and bounced off at an odd angle as it hit the edge of the cadmium bubble. He paid it no mind, already certain of where it would land.

He readied his next shot as he watched them react to the strange sound of his gun in slow-motion. Gamic was correct, all of these seemed to be Archivists, the heavy copper on their arms a tell-tale sign of people who had spent a very long time collecting a lot of information.

By the time of the third shot, Miller had already been hit in the neck, and was slowly descending towards the ground. The second reached out for him, entirely unaware of the fact that his concern put him straight into the path of the second bullet.

Minutes passed for him, though outside barely seconds had progressed. He closed the bubble, and the dozen or so bodies hit the ground, one after the other. “Impressive,” Gamic said, nodding at him. “I guess we go back to base now, yeah?”

“...Yes. We let them know the job is done, grab out stuff, and leave.”

Gamic nodded. “You're pretty certain now. What changed?”

“I've had a lot of time to think...”

but you're defense of him was not very good.

But you are defense of him was not very good?

Sorry, just had to point that out.  :P

Consider this a formal announcement of Serious!STINK  :P

I'm actually slightly suspicious of you because of all of these no-explanation votes. You said that you would be playing more seriously in D1, but you're still slapping these no-explanation votes around. Your words don't match your actions, and that makes me suspicious.

So an eliminator Assassin used their one shot and killed someone with a very good role. That makes me think that the eliminators have a Data Gathering player and scanned him on the first Cycle. Anyways, they've played their hand somewhat with that kill, which gives us insight for how the roles have been distributed a bit, as well as the fact that they have an Assassin(so get searching loyal Data Gathering roles!). It's also possible, that since they killed so early, and there's the chance that a Data Gathering role could out them, they have a player with False Trails so they aren't worried about Data Gathering players right now.

I guess I was wrong about Orlok being the culprit behind Burnts death. Oh well.

Orlok and Mailliw were both suspicious of Adavantos. (What? I'm not implying anything. )

Even more information from this past Cycles results. There was at least 2 eliminators NOT on the mission(1 who sent in their kill and the Traitor Assassin). 4 players were on the mission, 2 loyals died, leaving 14 players unaccounted for.

1. STINK - was online during Night Turn

2. Anamaximder - was online during Night Turn

3. Hellscythe - was online during Night Turn

4. Shallan - was online during the Night Turn, but only for the first 30 minutes of it. I don't know if that tells us for sure that she didn't make on of those kills, but in my experience, kills aren't usually sent in in the first 30 minutes of a Turn.

5. phattemer - similarly to Shallan, he was only online during the Night Turn for about the first 10 minutes of it.

6. Elbereth - HAS NOT BEEN ONLINE DURING THE NIGHT TURN TO SEND IN AN ACTION. Did not kill anyone.

7. RippleGylf - everyone else listed after this, including Ripple, was online during the Night Turn.

8. Elkanah

9. Bridge Boy

10. Adavantos

11. Lopen(but I didn't kill anyone!)

12. Araris

13. Arraenae

14. LUNA

Mission players:

1. Luckat

2. Clanky

3. Kynedath

4. SilverDragon

This doesn't mean much I guess, but I thought I'd point it out in case it becomes relevant at any point.

Edited for more info on the players online times.

So, unless you think that Shallan and/or phattemer planned to go offline and send in their kills early, I'd guess they didn't kill anyone.

So to build off of what Lopen was saying, the fact that the Traitors used their Assassin kill this early is pretty telling. I do not, however, agree that Mailliw was killed because they knew he was a Medical Specialist. That would have been a huge risk for them to attempt using their only assassin kill on a player who was most likely protecting themselves. It's possible the Traitors knew he would use his ability on another player but that would suggest they managed to get on Mailliw's good side very fast. I've never been on Mailliw's good side before, so I can't really judge if that's possible by C2, but somehow I want to believe he would have been more careful than that. But just in case, @Wyrm: Would a self-targeting Medical Specialist survive an Assassination attempt, or are Assassin kills (due to being a one-shot thing) impossible to block?

I can see there being five different reasons for Mailliw's death. 1: The Traitors figured out his role (As I stated before, I doubt this, unless the answer to my above question is Assassin kills cannot be blocked), 2: It was purely a fear kill based on Mailliw's SE experience (If this was the case then I don't understand why they didn't go for him C1 instead of Burnt) 3: Because I am a Traitor who was afraid of him starting a lynch on me (Which makes sense given Orlok was killed too) 4: The Traitors wanted to make me look bad (Also makes sense given Orlok was killed too) or 5: Mailliw said something in PMs this cycle that gave them a reason to attack him (Possible and worth looking into).

@Everyone - STINK: Were you in a PM with Mailliw or were aware of another player who was, and did he role claim or mention any reason why he might be targeted? Personally I was never in a PM with Mailliw. However I was told by STINK that he claimed False-Trails to him.

Also, another thing worth mentioning, because of the fact the Traitors waited to use their Assassin kill until C2, it's possible that if they do not have a Data Gatherer the reason they didn't use the double kill sooner was because their Assassin was on the mission last cycle and thus could not put in the action. I also doubt this, however, because that's obvious enough that it's more likely they wanted to make it look that way rather than that actually be the case.

Wow, I never get the good questions.

Well I already know everything you could say unless you left out details during our discussion last turn, and I've barely talked to anyone else so far this game

Also (color=green)vote(/color) and (color=red)vote(/color) except replace ( ) with [ ] .

Oh and so I don't forget again:
