My mom at least has been more supportive on this job hunt than on some other job hunts I've had, praying with me, asking how it's going, not blaming me outright for not getting the Anchorage job...(actually, on second thought, the last one doesn't sound supportive at all). And she and my dad both want to help me get a pug--they've said that if I go with one of the puppies at the pet store, they can put down the rest of the money and I'll pay them back. But in the past, what's happened is that I'll get upset about not getting a job, and she'll commiserate with me--until she reaches some point where she just can't handle my being upset and she'll tell me to get over it. So I'm afraid that if I don't get a job soon, or if I let her see how much this is stressing me out, she'll snap and Supportive Mom will be replaced by Taskmaster Mom.

Do you know what went wrong during the interview?

Do you know what went wrong during the interview?

They asked me questions I hadn't prepared for and I stumbled over my words. I think I'll try what Kaymyth said and practice answering questions, and I'll also see if I can find a few common library interview questions online.

I'm still holding out hope that you wind up in the KC area so that I can continue my tradition of unofficially adopting young adults with crazypants parents and embarking upon a deprogramming routine.

And then you re-program them to be loyal soldiers of your cult! I see right through your facade, kayMYTH!  :P  ;)

That's the beauty of it!  She's already a pony!  All I have to do is train her to believe that she's awesome!

Once she believes that she's at least 20% cooler than everybody else, my work will be done.

A pretty purple pony wearing four mismatched shoes. B)

I did find one in KC, and although the only minimum qualification is an MLS degree, it's for a supervisor position, so they'll probably go with a candidate who has more experience. I'll give it a shot, though.

I.....didn't notice the four colours of shoes.

Forgive me.

Certainly no harm in trying.  You might be surprised at how well "remaining politely firm with idiots coming in to pick up their car" can translate into leadership skills.  And if it turns out to be nothing more than another interview under your belt?  So be it; you'll have that much more practice before landing your real job.

For a few weeks now we have a new president in Poland. And he simply is the worst. How do you think, when the president of your country visits another country and talks about his nation, what should he be saying? Something positive, right? Something that promotes his country abroad and makes you look cool and fun and worth to do business with. Well, that's what every normal president would do, but not Andrzej Duda... Two examples from last week I think:

Andrzej Duda visiting Germany. During a conversation with Joachim Gauck (German president) Duda called Poland  an unjust country. Yeah, you read that right. Newly elected president of Poland is calling Poland unjust while Gauck was complementing us on our growing industry. Cool.

Andrzej Duda visiting UK. While addressing Polish emigrants working and living in UK, he said "I won't ask any of you to go back." Oh for god's sake, Polish president is practically telling Polish people to stay away from Poland!!!

He's been the president for merely over a month so far... 4 years and 11 months to go...

So Australia's previous PM (he just got replaced!) was hosting a conference with Obama, Angela Merkel, world leaders from all over. And what is his opening address?

"Gosh darn, I can't get these Aussies to pay an extra $7 every time they want to see a dr."

After just a tiny bit of research on Duda - he won the presidential election, and then resigned his party membership?  Who does that?  Why?

Well that seems to be kind of a tradition in Poland to pretend that the president is above the divisions in parliament and that he is neutral. Currently, despite his resignation from membership in Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, he is fully supporting this party and is doing what he can to make trouble for the ruling party. Parliament elections are in a couple of weeks, so he's currently one of main parts of opposition campaign. Maybe that's why he criticizes Poland and polish government whenever he can.

I'm absolutely thoroughly pissed off at my own body right now (this isn't just a bad day, more like a bad year and a half)…

Last January (New Year's Day, in fact), I woke up with a headache.  Not just a mild, this-is-annoying kind of headache, but one of those ones that makes you want to just close your eyes and not open them again for a few hours.  Sure, not a migraine either, but bad enough I called out of work halfway through the day.

Fast forward over a year and a half: that headache hasn't gone away, and if anything has gotten worse.  And by not gone away, I don't mean that I get it often.  It's always there.  24/7/365.  It's constantly wearing down my patience, my energy, my willpower, everything.  This is on top of years of depression, though unacknowledged until more recently.  I've debated throwing in the towel and just withdrawing completely from society, with only my duty to my family keeping me from quitting my job and retreating into some dark cave for a few years.

Anyways, I won't ask anyone to excuse the rant, since that's what this topic is for, but I really wish this would just end and let me get back to something resembling normalcy.  No matter what Arthur Dent thinks of that.

Do you have diabetes/hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia? If not, go see a doctor about them, as they cause headaches about the intensity you are describing. An ex of mine had hypoglycemia and we didn't know, but her headache was constant until she saw a doctor about it and fixed her diet. Though I would think that your diet would fluctuate enough during a year and a half that you'd have some periods of relief...

I'd also recommend getting your sinuses checked if you haven't already. It might not be the issue, but a headache that never stops is one of the symptoms of chronic sinusitis. I'm speaking from experience here, I'm not entirely sure if there has been a time in the past couple of years when I didn't have some degree of a headache, though sometimes it was minor enough that I could easily ignore it. I have had months at a time where it was quite strong.

Thanks for the suggestions, ya'll!  I have been seeing doctors about it, a whole host of them, and found no solutions yet (not diabetic or hyper/hypoglycemic, which is good for me, and doesn't seem to be sinuses, nor anything a neurologist can treat).  Currently working with a craniosacral massage therapist, actually, and researching additional options.

Good to hear you've all ready done the responsible thing :)

Hope you get relief soon!

Have you been to a Dentist? Some headaches are due to gum infection, bad roots, other oral issues.

Yep, my teeth are almost too perfect.

Just keep in contact with your GP and they'll get sorted out, I was having Cluster Headaches for a good 3 years before I finally got diagnosed and found some medication that kindof works. Stick with it and someone'll find the answer.

Ok. What about a CAT with dye? I have migraines and mine showed I had slight fluid on top of my skull and they said it was acting like a "peusdo tumor"

Yep, along with MRI's and MRA's and I forget what else.
