Zayde he/him Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I've been playing through Bastion and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. I was playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, but for some reason I've been having a hard time staying interested in it. It's a good game, but there's just a little too much faffing about and the main missions aren't that compelling either. Bastion is lots of fun, though the time trials make me rage for some of the weapons. And then Ratchet & Clank is fun as always.
FrostedDonut he/him Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I've been playing Monster Hunter for PSP, Spiral Knights on Steam, and I think tonight I'll pick Destroy All Humans back up. I want to eventually play Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Nier, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus (the two-pack just came out a few days ago), Assassin's Creed, Bioshock 2....but all of that will have to wait when Skyrim comes out. Oh god. Oh goddd.
SOM1else he/him Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) So I finally decided to download TF2 after I realized that I've been miss reading the "Space Needed" and "Space Required" numbers that it shows you before it downloads. I still don't know if my computer will be able to handle it however, (I've heard it's not that strenuous on most computers, but still, mine is pretty suckish) It still has about an hour estimated before the download finishes, guess we'll see if this ends up being either the great game I've heard it is, or if it's a worthless waste of disc space. Wish me luck!!! EDIT*** Just finished downloading it and it runs much better then I thought that it would. The graphics aren't amazing but they're much better then what I thought my computer was going to be able to handle. As long as I can get a good solid frame rate when I play then I don't really care about graphics unless they are really awful (by the time I got Oblivion running at a bearable frame rate it was all but unplayable because of how low I had it's graphic settings). Eerongal he/him Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 So.....is anyone getting dungeon defenders when it comes out next week? i all ready have it preordered. If so, we should totally play sometime.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I've played through most of Final Fantasy XIII again over the past few days, I still like the story and how the character arcs play out. Though things really slow down once you get to the third disc. But that's where the gameplay really picks up, expanding into a bigger world with lots of places to go at the expense of next to no story content. The dichotomy of great story at the expense of gameplay and great gameplay at the expense of story is disappointing, and I wish they'd done it better. Yes, I like the story of FFXIII, I find it interesting, even though it's not without its flaws. Then again, neither are the other FF games.
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 I just beat Final Fantasy X for the third time yesterday. My personal belief regarding JRPGs, is that by the end of the game, your characters must be like unto GODS. Final Fantasy X succeeds here.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 That just depends on how much grinding and sidequests you're willing to do. I, for instance, do not consider Wakka's Ultimate Weapon worth the hours of Blitzball. *shudder*

My personal belief regarding JRPGs, is that by the end of the game, your characters must be like unto GODS. Final Fantasy X succeeds here. Reminds me of an RPG where you kill your first god at level 8-12 or so. Can't remember the name unfortunately.
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Right now, I'm jumping back and forth between Batman: Arkham City, MGS3, and Chrono Cross. As for FFX, I completely agree with Silus. That's why, as soon as Yunalesca is toast, my team becomes permanently composed of Tidus, Yuna, and Auron, and no one else.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I dunno, Wakka hits hard enough, and he's a beast at killing those fliers, it's just his Weapon that's not worth it. But I can see where you'd stick with those. Yuna is SUPER AMAZING once you get Nirvana (that's her Weapon, right?). All her spells cost 1 MP, so she can basically spam Holy. AWESOME.
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Yeah, she does that until I can get her to doublecast Ultima.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 OOH. That would be so awesome. The only thing I don't like about Holy and Ultima is that the animations take so long.
Oditogre Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 - I've been replaying some old games. Started a new character on Mass Effect and played them through mainly Paragon (ended with max Paragon, but had a fair amount of Renegade in there, too), and now bringing them through ME2. I want to deal with the endgame differently than I did on another Paragon playthrough, and also just wanted to play the games again. - Dug the PS2 out of storage and started a new game of Kingdom Hearts 2 mainly because I was playing the flash game Upgrade Complete and it made me think of the Gummy Ship mini-game, hehe. - And last but not least, Eve, of course. My main character is now approaching 6 years old and 100M SP in a week or so. \o/ Been having renewed interest because the corp I'm in (which is an RP corp) has made friends with some folks in lowsec, meaning more types of play are now open to me conveniently, and also the just-announced Tier 3 Battlecruisers and balancing tweaks in the upcoming winter patch are very exciting. Also building up a new character since Eve has relatively harsh penalties for death, and it's now a real bother to have either of my other characters get killed in trivial conflicts, so I wanted a character that I could do fun suicidal type stuff with and not worry about it if they have a fiery, glorious hilarious death. They are approaching the point where they can be seriously fun, so I'm looking forward to that.
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) Killing machines? Nope, definitely marshmallows. OR, I played through the Portal 2 "Peer Review" Co-op DLC with my brother, day before yesterday. Super fun, and some of the puzzles were really tough. Took us a long time to figure out that last chamber. And the ENDING. Oh, my gosh, the ending was AWESOME. Edited October 26, 2011 by Silus - Shard of Flame
Ryan he/him Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 At the moment I'm playing through Half Life 2. Again. Any bets on whether Valve will ever actually make HL2:EP3, let alone HL3?
Emeralis00 she/her Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Currently playing: The Nexus, and Eternal Conflux. What? They're games. 1

Sigyn Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I've been playing lots of boardgames and cardgames lately: Smallworld, Ticket to Ride, Citadels, and Guillotine. I found the last one pretty funny--you get points for which nobles you've sent to the guillotine while trying to keep your opponent getting high-point people. There's also the Martyr and Hero of the People which are worth negative points if you get them.
SOM1else he/him Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I've been pretty busy with school that I haven't been able to play much of anything lately, in fact I think it would be safe to assume that I could count on my fingers the number of hours I have spent playing games since summer ended. Of course that will not hold true starting next friday when skyrim is released. I am seriously considering asking for my assignments that day ahead of time so that I don't have to go into school that day. 1
Thor he/him Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Went through KOTOR 1 for the first time a few weeks ago and followed up with a replay of KOTOR 2. And I am (again...) thinking about maybe starting to ladder on Starcraft 2 (or Starcraft 1). I always think about laddering and then chicken out (which is weird in that I am pretty good at both games...) Maybe this week I will actually start. I recently played this Super Mario Bros look-a-like game: Cat Mario which is stupidly hard, to the point of being literally unbeatable, but it is hilarious to watch someone else play the game for the first time! I started to replay Ventus' storyline in KH:BBS on Critical Mode (I thought you might get 10 total slots for commands since you start out with 5 instead of 3, which is, alas, not the case...) and I am rather tired of getting three shotted by everything in Neverland...I had to replay the opening areas 8 or 9 times before I could reach a save point. (It doesn't help that I am probably under leveled.) Some day I will also get around to beating the Mysterious Figure with all of my characters and IMBAnitas with Aqua and Ventus... (Why do you always release versions of the game that I cannot get, Square Enix?! You even do it with MOVIES!?!) I've been thinking about getting Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core for a while now...If I do get them, which should I play first?
Demosthenes Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Skyrim. Gets released. In two days. You might not see any posts from me for quite a while, if it's as good as I hope it is. Also, I've playing D&D 3.5e when I can, as well as a little Magic: The Gathering.
SOM1else he/him Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Skyrim released yesterday, need I say more?
Eerongal he/him Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 So....i was playing skyrim tonight and i ran across this person, and I'm of the opinion that her lute would make one of the most awesome electric guitars ever.

I agree, that would make an amazing guitar. Also I see you are playing on PC, I've heard some people say that their computer runs Skyrim better than it can Oblivion, do you know if this is true or not?

I own oblivion for the 360, because back when it came out, there was no chance my PC at the time could play it. Edit: also, i will say i'm pleasantly surprised with how well it does perform on my current PC. My PC isn't exactly high end and it runs at a good 25-30 FPS in general, with a few spurts of lag here and there (and some lag that I think is bug related after 30-40 minutes of play), but overall it's easily playable.
