I'll be there on Saturday! I'll be going as Terra from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.
-
Seeing an image of Doc Scratch at a rave party just made my night. Thank you.
-
I still haven't done any work on Sollux. I haven't even done any work on my Terra costume... Megacon is going to be coming up real fast soon and I don't know if I'm going to have anything ready. =(

And that's what the monsters are for. To keep it interesting and intense. Caving for resources is a pretty fun experience because you never know what's going to pop up around the next corner.

That can apply to just about almost any game. It's more about the sense of accomplishment of being able to build something grand that you put a lot of work and effort into. You could say it's... about the journey, not the destination.

So, about that Act 5 ending... o_o
-
No, but I remember the Vincent Price version of The Raven. It was quite awesome.

I went last year as Quail-Man, but only on Saturday. I had a lot of fun. I'm definitely going on Saturday with my friends as Terra from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep if my friend manages to finish our keybaldes and helps me with my costume. If I go any other days or our Aqua, Terra, Ventus cosplay doesn't work out, I'll totally do Sollux. =D

Me too. Particularly Alternia from AlterniaBound and . Oh, and is another of my favorites.

Unfortunately, I'm limited to cons in the Central Florida area. I'm pretty certain I'll be going to MegaCon in the spring, but other than that, I can't really travel that far. In-state cons I might be able to go to, but it all depends on how fast my student loan money runs out since I'm a slacker and haven't gotten a job yet. ><

Finally got around to sinking my teeth into Homestuck and it is quite amazing. I've still got to get through Part 2 of Act 5 though. I totally call dibs on Sollux if this ever happens and I can commit to it.

Yes. Yea, I really enjoyed that series. Last book was a bit of a disappointment though. Still, it's worth reading.

What are you playing right now?

I've been playing through Bastion and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. I was playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, but for some reason I've been having a hard time staying interested in it. It's a good game, but there's just a little too much faffing about and the main missions aren't that compelling either. Bastion is lots of fun, though the time trials make me rage for some of the weapons. And then Ratchet & Clank is fun as always. -
That and all of Jasnah's research quotes about voidbringers refer to ash and fire and the ability to shapeshift.

It's MSPaint Adventures. Which I guess would be kind of like a webcomic. I've read the first 30 or so pages of Homestuck. I liked what I read but haven't really had the time to read much of it. One of my friends is a big fan of Homestuck and would probably love the idea of doing a group cosplay.

I really hope they add some Golden Sun characters. Playing as Isaac or Alex would be fricken awesome.

And the hilarious part of my battle was that I was able to take control of two creatures from the third person we were playing that added +1/+1 to any creature I played as well as adding that to the stolen creature. So by the end of the battle they were like +12/+12. It was great. -

While not a video game, I did play Magic The Gathering for the first time a little over a week ago. I was with some friends and two of them wanted to play some Yu-gi-oh. And another of my friends who was there plays Magic and he let me borrow is zombie deck for a three way free for all. And I proceeded to slowly build up my undead army to the point where I was pretty much unstoppable and he resigned. I had a lot of fun and would love to start collecting and playing if I weren't a broke college kid. -
But the thing is, the book hasn't even been released yet. Some people's desire to get the most out of their book purchase is greater than their instant gratification desire. Yea the Coppermind is full of spoilers, but those books have already been published so if you're on the wiki, chances are you've already read what you're looking up. If it hasn't been published, there are significantly more people who haven't read the sample chapters because not everyone wants to read them ahead of time. So what I'm saying is this case is different because there are a greater number of people actively trying to avoid spoilers for Alloy of Law until it is published. So let's say you've read Mistborn, but not the Alloy of Law chapters, and you look Mistborn up on the wiki, chances are you will run across info on Alloy of Law because it's part of the overall Mistborn series. On the other hand if you're looking up information on say Elantris and haven't read Mistborn, you're not likely to run across Mistborn spoilers in Elantris articles. Unless you happen to stray into Cosmere articles. The issue is less about spoiling the book your looking up, and more about accidentally spoiling other books while looking up info on the book you've already read. Which raises an interesting point. Maybe the Coppermind should clearly mark articles that relate to the Cosmere and multiple series so that people know they should expect spoilers from "unrelated" books (unrelated meaning that Warbreaker and Elantris are essentially standalone novels with the exception of behind the scenes cosmology).

Maybe he originally was, knew that his mind was being molded by the shard's intent, and gave it up so that he wasn't completely lost to the shard's power. Maybe he thinks that a shard is best wielded by someone who isn't influenced by their shard's intent, and so because he was being influenced, he felt that the shard had become meaningless and gave it up to somebody else. Cosmere related ramblings:

I believe most of this theory, but I have a problem believing it's Raoden and Galladon. After all, in the timeline of the cosmere, there is a significant gap (I think Brandon mentioned hundreds of years?) between each series. I suppose it's possible that Elantrians are essentially immortal, but I'm not so sure they'd want to be hanging around for such a long time, especially when the rest of their families are not immortal.

I have one of E.S. Posthumus's albums and I like it. Any band that focuses on instrumental rock with awesome strings gets a thumbs up of approval in my book. The Myst III soundtrack is amazing. Jack Wall (he also did the music to Mass Effect) is a phenomenal composer.
