sanderfuss he/him Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I subscribe to AudibleUK myself. Maybe it's different but I can't find a KKC book narrated by anyone else. The only other audio books I've listened to are from iTunes but not many.
StormingTexan he/him Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Wow just checked you are right he does the UK narrating. I checked Amazon.uk and its Rupert. Here in the states it's Nick. Never knew there would be different narrators across the pond.
Briar King Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The slow down didn't hit me till bk 8 of WoT. I freaking loved bk 7 solely because of 2 people in it that cracked me up.
Kestrel she/her Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 So about book 7 or 8 is when the recommended stopping place is, then you read the tv tropes page and then read Sanderson's conclusion?
Left he/him Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 So about book 7 or 8 is when the recommended stopping place is, then you read the tv tropes page and then read Sanderson's conclusion?I think that since you're able to read straight through, without waiting for new releases, you should give it a shot. Maybe try audio books. I don't remember it being that bad, but I read them ridiculously quickly, so I don't remember much actually.

Left he/him Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 So I finished Gardens of the Moon, and I did end up liking it. I'll continue the series, my local library doesn't have the next book so I'll have to wait till next trip to Columbus. In the mean time, I can start either the Black Prism, or Django Wexler's Shadow Campaigns trilogy. Any input on which I should start first?
Kestrel she/her Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Just finished Lord of Chaos Oh my. Onto New Spring.
Kestrel she/her Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I scream My liveblog is just full of incoherent shrieking in all caps with language I dare not post here.
Briar King Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 So about book 7 or 8 is when the recommended stopping place is, then you read the tv tropes page and then read Sanderson's conclusion? If u have them all you should be good to read them all. It's the yrs long wait that multiplied the anger for people. Even though the books are slower they pretty much all have descent ending segments. The only one I'd say to look up summary for would be bk 10. It's pretty much the undisputed Crown Jewel of Suck for RJ's bks but even then I'd still atleast try to get through it.
Argent he/him Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I scream My liveblog is just full of incoherent shrieking in all caps with language I dare not post here. It's one of the better endings.
Kestrel she/her Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 It was good. New Spring is.. strange. Its not bad, but it doesn't feel like a Wheel of Time novel. The writing is choppier.

Personally, I never liked it. It doesn't really give us anything new, and I hate how one of the characters from the original series is turned into a giggling school girl cliche of her former self.
Zea mays Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 ^By thine long grey beard and thine glittering eye now wherefore changes thou thine user name? It is time to tackle a classic. I got War and Peace loaded up on audible. Should take about a month, right? 1

Argent he/him Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) The Great Pratchett Reread continues... I am now reading Monstrous Regiment, and absolutely loving it! It reads very differently compared to most other Pratchett books, much less over-the-top, more serious, but really really good. Edited January 6, 2016 by Argent 2

I got War and Peace loaded up on audible. Should take about a month, right? I loved War & Peace, I read it hardcover and it took...about four months I think. I think listening to it would have been hard for me, it would've been harder for me to keep track of the characters. Edit: I haven't had much time for reading since I finished Gardens of the Moon, but I think I'm going to go with Wexler's book first. If school doesn't take too much time today I'll start this evening. I'm almost finished listening to Empire of Ivory( Temeraire 4) and I've got the fifth book on my shelf waiting when I'm ready. PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Last night I read the first half of Unforgettable by Eric James Stone. I'm really enjoying it. It's about a guy who can't be remembered by people—if he's out of their sight and hearing for a minute, they forget he exists. Naturally, he goes to work for the CIA. 3

My first question would be, How does the CIA remember to send him his paychecks? Or give him assignments? That powerset sounds like it has its problems. 1
Trizee Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I recently started reading Kevin J. Andesrson's Saga of the Seven Suns series. I finished the first book (Hidden Empire) and am now reading the second (A Forest of Stars). Though I'll admit its no masterpiece, its a fun space opera to read. The first book starts off with a lot of different POV characters, but somehow Anderson makes it work and it isn't confusing at all. Instead I was swept right in to the book, despite the fact that it isn't so very well written. Edited January 7, 2016 by Trizee
Elanicalicus Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I have been reading A Game of Thrones lately. I loooove this book, I've read 800 pages since last Sunday.
Argent he/him Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Went through Monstrous Regiment in a couple of days and am now reading Going Postal. Monstrous Regiment was easily one of the best Pratchett books I've read.
StormingTexan he/him Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The first book GOT is great then it kind of goes down hill after the second book in my opinion. It's funny I've been anticipating the next book so long I don't even care anymore. I'll just take whatever HBO does as cannon. Started a military sci fi series by Evan Currie called Odyssey One. It's pretty interesting if you like this genre. Kind of a different take on Firat Contact. Finished the first book and now on the second.

Anderson isn't a very creative writer as far as I can tell. Glad you're enjoying it though
