When you are unsure if it's a good thing that you can't find any copies of of the Stormlight Archive in your local bookstore...

(And the fact that you were looking for them even though you weren't shopping for any Sanderson that day...)

Posted

When you go to the bookstore to buy a Christmas present for your sister and leave with a book for yourself as well, and they were both Brandon Sanderson books.

When you can't answer what you want for Christmas because Firefight doesn't come out for another week and a half.

When you find a Sanderfan and don't stop talking to them until they yell at you to get the hell out of the break room and go to work. Again, this didn't happen to me. l could see it happening to me, but it hasn't yet.

My version...when your wife can't figure out what to get you for xmas because you're read all the currently released sanderson books.

When you have no internet for a couple of days because New Zealand is still in the 90's and have no access to the 17th shard and the only thing to keep you going is rereading all of the Cosmere books you have on you. I may have gone slightly mad because I read all the Mistborn books, TWoK, Elantris and Emperors soul in like 2 days and I can't reread books too close together.

Yes someone else here knows this feel. New Zealand IS still in the 90's. We were without internet for a month or so and it drove me mad...Freaking Tele- I mean Spark...

You know you're a Sanderfan when you decide to spend all of next year studying his books for uni =)

When someone criticises Sanderson's books as being poor in terms of diversity and your immediate reply is, "Uh, which books are you talking about, and are we talking about the same Brandon Sanderson here?"

When almost all your Christmas gifts are Brandon Sanderson related (stormlight hoodie, Szeth and Nightblood t-shirt, I am a stick t-shirt, Steelheart, Bridge 4 t-shirt)

Anyone claiming Brandon's books aren't diverse is either 1. not reading his books, or 2. not reading what Brandon says about his books. I suspect it was the second, which is understandable. Not everyone is a Sharder.

When you finally found a friend with whom you can share your hopes and dreams and they understand you because they have read Sanderson, too.

(This only works if your hopes and dreams revolve around buying the next Mistborn and Reckoner books)

When your favourite Christmas Present in the UK, is the Hardback, Signed Editions of "Mistborn", ordered in from the US, because they won't publish in hardback in the UK - At least, until you are halfway through the series, and therefore feel obliged to stay in Paperback to retain the pattern.

When you try to imagine Mistborn and the Way of Kings as disney musicals because you are bored out of your mind, and try to make up songs for them (though you fail horribly...) and then decide if the books were turned into musicals, Hoid would be the only one who doesn't sing. To The bewilderment of those around you, you start laughing for no apparent reason, and you don't explain, because they wouldn't understand.

Highlights from Christmas with my family, which includes another Sanderfan:

- "Hey Jeremy" [throws a coin at me] "Do you want to have a Boxing match?"

- "These playing pieces are made of zinc. Isn't that a Riot?"

- "I get a strong feeling about this pewter ornament".

I can't be the only one who wants to see Kaladin singing "Make a Man Out of You" to Bridge 4.
