Kaladin and What Sadeas Is Not
Crystin Radiant replied to IntentAwesome's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do see how Kaladin could be suspect... He has reasonable motive, obvious skill (he has killed other shardbearers, and faced many without shards), and I think that his sudden departure as suspicious... Whether or not they realize his innocence, I don't know, but the reason to suspect him is there. I do think that if Kaladin is blamed, however, it might force Adolin to confess to the murder. As for Adolin, and the Kholin family in general, I worry what will happen to them. How Adolin reacted, I don't think that he will admit to murdering Sadeas, or he will take a while to admit to it. I think Adolin will not want to tell Dalinar, and then be torn because he should tell his father, but then there is the shame of failure... However, not telling Dalinar will only make things worse when he finds out that it was Adolin. There will be outrage among the high princes, and Dalinar will be torn between his love for Adolin, and his own code of honor, which will force him to punish Adolin. I don't think that we won't see Adolin get a character arc in the next book. Adolin is going to see some serious change in the next book. Killing Sadeas is undoubtably going to have serious effects on him and his relationship with others. Adolin's arc may not be the main one— we know Dalinar's arc is the main one— but it is going to change him in some profound ways, and I think it will affect Dalinars arc, also. Ialai is going to be dangerous. She has (from what we've seen from Sadeas's perspective in WoR) the largest and most secret spy ring in the war camps. I find it very plausible that she will find out that Adolin killed her husband. When she does find out, she is going to use that information to do everything she can to tear the Kholin family to shreds. So there are my thoughts on the matter... -
theory An Possible Explanation for Taravangian's Diagram
Crystin Radiant replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do agree that it is possible that The Diagram is not congruous with Honor's ideals of saving Roshar, which makes sense, since they have different intents and ideals. I also like the idea that Fish 321 suggested. Maybe he has it backwards. I think it works in a very twisted way. With the return of the desolation, there are going to be deaths, and it's impossible for it to end without many people dying. So Taravangian needs the emotionless logic to come up with the plan, but the plan deals with the lives of other people, and so he needs to be compassionate about the people in the Diagram's execution, especially because it means the death of many innocent people. IDK. Just my random thoughts. It sort of makes sense, but it is still very twisted and morbid in nature. I do think that the diagram's construction stems from Cultivation, or at least from Taravangian's boon/bane, but (Hero of Ages related) Just a thought. -
Am I the only one who cried at the end of Elantris?
Crystin Radiant replied to Eiro's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I cried too. And what got to me the most was how his arc came full circle. The first words we read when we're introduced to Hrathen is "None of Arelon's people greeted their savior when he arrived." And then at the end Serene talks about how he was their savior. That scene probably got to me more than the end of The Well of Ascension did. -
the most useless uses for useful powers
Crystin Radiant replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Burn Cadmium to make your least favorite class longer. build an oathgate like fabrial to teleport you across the street. Use lashings so that gravity is reversed for a day... (Actually, that would be a great senior prank. Now just getting that to work...) Soulstamp yourself into a stick. Awaken a stick with the command to say "I am a stick." (Sorry, I had to!) Fill a coppermind with evert digit of Pi. Store your identity and memories in metal minds (Aluminum and copper, respectively) and lock them away so that you have no idea who you are and are an amnesiac. (Store even the memories of where you locked up your metal minds and hid the key, so you will never find them again...) Spike yourself with a hemalurgic spike that has a vampire's tribute to burn up in the sun while out on a hot summer day. -
Ryshadium (Horse) vs Ryshadium (Glass)
Crystin Radiant replied to WayneSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
Lord Ruler! How did I miss that? Maybe we'll find more out about this in Alcatraz Versus the Dark Talent? I really hope that this pops up again, especially since it is such a minor detail, I doubt anyone would remember that from book one, and so when it becomes an essential element in the book... STORMFATHER, I NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWERS! Sorry about the ranting. I found the exact quote: "Answer My questions, old man! How do I bypass the Sentinel's Glass of Ryshadium? How can I grow the crystals of Crystallia?" (Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians, chapter 16, pg. 240) I wonder if those two questions are related somehow. -
That's what I'm thinking. It was said that the Radiants first had Rashydium, but thinking on it, (and I know his isn't true for all, but for some orders at least) why would they want a horse. A Windrunner could just "fly" places, an Elsecaller could simply teleport, and Edgedancers could get places faster by using their surge of abrasion to make things— in Lift's terms— "slick". Thus being said, Ryshadium seem redundant if they are just super inteligent, gigantic horses. I think there are more to the Ryshadium than we've seen. Kaladin doesn't trust horses because he thinks they're alien, and he describes Adolin's Ryshadium as a "monster" so maybe what we're seeing is similar to the dead shardblades. Of course, this is wild speculation with no real evidence, and I have a near 100% chance of being wrong, but who knows?

I always figured they were about the size of a Clydesdale. I've never really given thought to how they came about, but they are an anomaly on Roshar. I like the idea about spren... Maybe they occure when a spren bonds with a horse? Now I really want to know.

What's YOUR Talent?
Crystin Radiant replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Daydreaming. My mind is always somewhere else. I figure I could either use this to transport myself places, create alternate realities, and maybe transport others to these realities. And/or agreeing to taking tests in school that I really should not be taking. I used to have a more basic version of the breaking talent. Anything made of glass would break at my touch. Jars, windows, lights... But that's gone now. -
A rain of shrdblades?[WoR spoilers ahead!]
Crystin Radiant replied to rederel's topic in Stormlight Archive
I can kind of see the Stormfather being like "fine, I'll be your bonded spren." And then leaving Dalinar alone for the most part and just going off to... continue bringing highstorms to Roshar or whatever and checking in every once in a while... Probably with each passing highstorm. ... That's what the Stormfather does, right? -

You know You're a Sanderson when you see "Plant Food spikes", and your first thoughts are "what a curious use of hemalurgy."; you are utterly confused as to why the spikes are made of plastic, and very disappointed to find out that it is, in fact, not hemalurgy. When you wish you could take notes like Mizzy, but know your grades in school will suffer if you did. -

When your chemistry teacher puts out little trays of different substances for you to guess the number of particles in, and you can't help but notice that four of the six are zinc, tin, copper, and aluminum, and they're in beads and powder, and just the right size to ingest, and wonder if your chemestry teacher is secretly a mistborn, or a fellow Sanderfan subtly trying to see if anyone catches on... When you are comming up with fake answers for a quiz game, and you throw in "there's always another secret' and are disappointed when nobody got the reference. When you watch Big Hero 6, and during the car chase scene, think Wassabi is a Skybreaker. ("there are no red lights in a car chase!") -

When you try to imagine Mistborn and the Way of Kings as disney musicals because you are bored out of your mind, and try to make up songs for them (though you fail horribly...) and then decide if the books were turned into musicals, Hoid would be the only one who doesn't sing. To The bewilderment of those around you, you start laughing for no apparent reason, and you don't explain, because they wouldn't understand. -

Hmm... I think that in order to measure Stormlight, we need to identify what it is... How does it get into gemstones? Can it be compressed? And if it can, then does the density affect how much light it gives off? (Is the light property of Stormlight an intensive or extensive property?) if it does, then lumens, perhaps. OOH! Just got an interesting idea! Does Stormlight have weight? Say, if we were to have perfectly cut jems that weigh exactly the same and infuse one of them, would it weigh more than the other? (even air has weight, so if it's something like a heated gas, (like neon lights,) then an infused gem would weigh slightly more than a dun gem. What do you think?

When you ponder math in relation to the First Ideal of the Knights Radiant, and decide that math does not adhere to "Journey before destination" because it doesn't matter how you got your answer, as long as it is right... but then again, in this case, there are multiple 'right' ways to solve a problem in math... When you have a discussion about Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, and the theme of destroying to create makes you think of Mistborn. -
