  1. Australia's talent is waking up 'ugly'...When you watch field of dreams and think the voice the main character is hearing is Ruin, (actually, it makes more sense if it were Harmony, but it's funnier when you think it's Ruin) and then you wonder who spiked the main character. When your brother agreeing to read a chapter of mistborn is enough of a bribe for you to shut up and quit complaining about having to get a storming flu shot. When you squee because there's new merchandise in Brandon's store, and you desperately want it.
  2. When you become extremely excited because the status bar for Shadows of Self doubled from last time you saw it...
  3. When your English teacher asks the class about Plato and the cave allegory, and your first thoughts are 'Alcatraz!', and you are the only person that knew about it before that day, thanks to Alcatraz, (or Sanderson, whoever really wrote those books...) When you have to wait for your parents to pick you up and it's cold and dark out, and you wish you had some tin and pewter to burn...
  4. Sorry! I meant to hit upvote! Could someone fix this for me?
  5. When you have to make a periodic table of the elements, for chemestry and when you come across Tin, Copper, Gold, and the other allomantic metals, are tempted to draw the allomantic symbols on the respective index cards... When you see the word Blackthorn and immediately think of Dalinar.
  6. I think it would be interesting to see Szeth's flashbacks. He has very different views on society than the rest of the world compared to Vorinnations especially, but probably the rest of the world as well. I keep wondering what Kaladin's reunion with his parents will be like. I imagine they will be happy to have their son back, though Kaladin may think they won't be since he had failed to protect Tien'. I also wonder how Lirin and Hasina will react to Kaladin behind a shardbearer and a Knight Radiant. On the possibly negative side, Vorin views of Radiants, coupled with Shards being a tool for killing, which Lirin opposes as a surgeon. On the positive side, higher social level. I think overall, however, they will be happy to see him again.
  7. I always thought that it was a trilogy, but for clarification, the Miriam-Webster dictionary says that a saga is a a prose narrative recorded in iceland in the 12th and 13th centuries of historic or legendary figures and events of the heroic age of Norwan and Iceland; or a modern heroic narrative resembling the Icelandic saga; or a long detailed account... Which makes me think that the author of twilight used the word wrong. A trilogy is a series of three dramas or literary works... That are closely related develop a single theme. A chronicle is a historical account of events arranged in order of time usually usually without analysis or interpretation. I think any of these work for Mistborn, though I always thought it was called The Mistborn Trilogy...
  8. Wit tells Kaladin a story that influences him later in the story.
  9. Welcome to the forum, sanderfan!Trying to soothe someone, yes. I agree! To add to that: When you are disappointed that you can't use allomancy. Or any other of the wonderful magic systems.
  10. For me, it was Renarin. (Not that I ever thought he was evil, I just didn't realize what an amazing person he was because I was so focused on Dalinar, Adolin, Kaladin, and Shallan.) My reaction to Szeth was a wild, roller coaster of switching between "Szeth is evil." and "Szeth is a misguided person forced to do evil and deserves my sympathy, though now I'm just curious what he's going to do in book three.
  11. I imagine the result would be similar to what happened in Voyager... I would totally download all the content from that machine though...
  12. Granted. You become a full Shardbearer... But every time you summon your blade, you hear its screams of pain while simultaneously hearing another voice in your head that tells you you should kill every person you see. I wish I were a worldhopping Oculator with a pair of translator's lenses.
  13. My thoughts as well, though he probably was just up to normal Hoid secret stuff. But it is four hours between when we see him last in chapter twelve, he is absent all throughout chapter thirteen, and reappears in chapter fifteen. This is a bit suspicious. Now I really am curious. In case anyone was wondering, Wit first appears in chapter twelve, Page 197 (assuming my kindle is correct,) and then in chapter 15, Page 228.
  14. When everything is a reference to one of Brandon's works. When you are jealous of your brother because he wears glasses. When you call yourself a nigglenut every time you do something dumb When you and your brother insult each other by calling each other 'nice' When every time you hear the line 'I'm free!' in the song Let It Go, you think about ruin escaping his prison at the end of the Well of Ascention. When you want to be a steel inquisitor for Halloween, and become frustrated because you can't figure out how to do the spikes. When you know it's ok to talk to your imaginary friend because your imaginary friend is actually a Spren. When you draw cosmere backgrounds for your computer in adobe illustrator When in class you are asked to write a poem about a book or a computer, you write a poem about the Stormlight Archive. When you aspire to live by the ideals of the Knights Radiant. When you tell everyone they must read Mistborn trillogy. And Elantris. And the Stormlight Archive. and everything else by Brandon Sanderson. When you harangue anyone who refuse to read Alcatraz because there is a dinosaur in clothes on the cover of the book. When you're secretly waiting for your grandmother to admit that the free kingdoms, the knights of Crystallia, and Oculators are real, and that she is part of a cult of evil librarians that secretly rule the world. When you can't not fan girl over the Stormlight Archive. Or the Mistborn trillogy. Or Elantris. When you read Sherlock Holms a Case in Scarlet, and when they mention callings, realize that Brandon is a Mormon. When Brandon Sanderson is the person you can only aspire to be. When you think a meaningful death for a vampire would be to acquire hemalugic powers from one, then realize that it would be terrible if an inquisitor accidentally gained their 'sparkle in the sunlight attribute' because it would ruin the effect they have on people. Ok... I'm done with this rant for now.
  15. Hmm... I think Elhokar was seeing cryptics, and the epigraph for chapter forty nine fore some reason makes me think that there are different ways to see them before you bond to one, since not all of them drew. I had thought that perhaps Syl had scared off the cryptics watching Elhokar, though now that I think about it, I could be wrong. Shallan does, however note that Patern is quiet when Kaladin is around at one point, though I don't remember where in the book that was. I'm not sure if that counts for anything, though. I think it would be interesting to see a man as a lightweaver, especially since they seem to all be artists of some sort, and that sort of thing tends to be frowned upon in men in Alethi culture. As far as Lightweavers and Windrunners, I feel like Lightweavers have two distinct powers- soulcasting and lightweaving, while the abilities of the Windruners seem more like one ability. Edit: Also, as far as the two Lightweavers that Kaladin knew... I note that it is in past tense, so does this mean that Kaladin knows three (two who are dead and Shallan) or Shallan and another Lightweaver who is now dead? I may be reading too far into this, but you never know...
  16. Granted. The entire world is controlled by an opressive tyrant that nobody dares to raise against. I wish I could write good poetry in rhyming iambic pentameter and dactylic hexameter. (not entirely sure if this makes sense...)
  17. detnarG. Your papers magically fall out of any binder for no obvious reason. I wish for a conscious, talking stick.
  18. Granted, you now have a little thunderstorm that follows you wherever you go, including indoors. I wish for skeins of yarn in every color that could possibly exist.
  19. Whoops! My divide didn't show that you had already answered that boon, and I like that bane much better! Up vote for you!
  20. Granted, but time now travels backwards for you. You wake up in the morning, and stay awake all through the night, and go to bed around two in the afternoon. I wish to know the Question to the Ultamate Answer, and still know the answer. (42)
  21. Granted, but the hats are only three inches in diameter, and they are all locked into a safe that you cannot open. I wish I could have a pet chasmfiend that won't attack/ kill me.
  22. Hmmm... Perhaps. my thoughts are that maybe Kaladin will run into her in Kholinar (assuming he goes there after he gets to Hearthstone.) and will not believe that it is Jasnah at first. (my carry in length of one page to half the book, and he has never met Jasnah, so he can't confirm her identity)Adolin may be ok with not being a Radiant, though I really don't know. We will see more of Shallan and her involvement with the Ghostbloods. Hopefully Adolin will become less protective of Shallan, and she will love him more for that. (I can see that, or Adolin becomes even more protective of Shallan, and she 'breaks up' with him for that, and begins a romantic relationship with Kaladin. (I hope this does not happen, and storm me, but if it does, I will throw this book across the hall and scream.)) We will see more of Gaz now that he is Shallan's guard. Lopen will become Kaladin's squire, along with the rest of bridge four. Even Moash will become a squire, but every time he tries to summon his shard blade, he will hear it scream in his head. Kaladin will return to Urithiru via the oath gate in Kholinar, and will tell Shallan he killed Herlan. (she may or may not forgive him.) Renarin will become much more important. (Strategizing, maybe? He can see into the future, so maybe he can see the disaster, and help everyone choose the correct course of action.) Jasnah will make it to Urithiru, and reunite with Shallan and the rest of her family. (Navani may or may not think that Shallan had lied to everyone about Jasnah being dead.) Someone (possibly Renarin, Shallan, Dalinar, or maybe some of Bridge Four) will go looking for the others whom the Soren have chosen, and bring them to Urithiru. (I can see Dalinar doing this as part of his 'quest' to unite.) And lastly, possible prologue viewpoints: Sadias (was the decoy the night Gavilar was murdered; would be interesting) Amaram (was seen talking to Gavilar in prologue to WoR, likely, but if we do get a prologue, it may possibly be in book five because it would probably give away too much about the Sons of Honor) Parshmen or Parshendi (would be interesting, we might be able to understand the Parshmen a little more, though it would make more sense if this was in Eshonai's book.) Other servants (could be interesting) Guardsmen who encountered Szeth (could amount to a mood of horror appropriate to the apocalypse in the rest of the book.) Someone from the beggars feast (not likely, but they would have seen Szeth) Navani (I wonder how she felt what she was up to when her husband was brutally murdered) We will 99% not see Dalinar as a prologue; he was drunk and half asleep when his brother was murdered. These are all just speculations, some with no evidence behind them, but we'll see...
  23. Thanks!
  24. Granted, but you will regret every decision you make about Disney movies for the rest of your life (you veto all the good ideas, and approve all the awful, cliché ideas.) I wish I were a knight of Crystallia and live on Roshar. (hello, second post on this forum!)
  25. Hello everyone! I finally joined after lurking around the site for a while... Um... Show did I come across 17th Shard, and everything wonderful? That is actually a funny story ( in my opinion,at least.) Five years ago, my mother brought home an audio book titled 'Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians' (I was in fifth grade at the time, I'm now a sophomore in high school) I didn't read this book, my brother did. I refused to read it because the title kind of threw me off. My aunt and cousin started a book club, and my brother got to pick the first book. He chose Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians. My aunt bought us each a choppy of the book, and for the first three weeks, (ok, maybe it wasn't three weeks, but for a while, anyway,) I absolutely refused to read it, and I even said I would burn the book when I was done. Long story short, I still have this book, though it is now very worn because of all the use it has seen. Shortly thereafter, I bought the books two and three, and bought my brother book four for Christmas the year it came out. Last April, (I think it was April, though it could have been May, we were at a Barnes and Noble, and I was lurking in the fantasy/ sci Fi section when I saw this book Mistborn. I figured I should read more of Brandon's books, and so I bought the boxed set of the mistborn series. (I have no regrets.) I actually found out about the cosmere through tumblr, and have since then read Elantris,Warbreaker, Way of Kings, and Words of Radiance. (I keep telling my brother he should read them, but he refuses to until Alcatraz five is released) Sorry, this is a bit long. Anyway, hello!
