When the first thing you do in the morning is check the 17th Shard, then check Facebook.

I'm not on Facebook. Or any other sites for that matter. My entire Internet presence is centered around the 17th Shard.

When you ponder math in relation to the First Ideal of the Knights Radiant, and decide that math does not adhere to "Journey before destination" because it doesn't matter how you got your answer, as long as it is right... but then again, in this case, there are multiple 'right' ways to solve a problem in math...

When you have a discussion about Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, and the theme of destroying to create makes you think of Mistborn.

No matter how you get the answer, you still have to take the journey first before you get to it. Your job is to learn from the journey.

When you decide to listen to Don't Stop Believin' near the end of every road trip...

..because Journey before destination.

When you literally dream about there being a Warbreaker graphic novel (illustrated by Ben McSweeney) and a Warbreaker movie (which was so inaccurate my dream took me to the set of the film to yell at the director). I was mad because they made the basic color (the color when the hair was not being changed by emotion) auburn rather than black. And yes, I really had this dream last night (even the specifics about who illustrated the graphic novel because I saw his name on the cover in my dream under Illustrated by). I think this qualifies as the best dream ever.

I would want to be a brass ferring! I am always cold because my teachers do not know the meaning of a thermostat.

When a very large percentage of your holiday wish list consists of Branderson works. Almost said Cosmere novels, then I remembered that I have decided to 'branch out' and am totally getting Steelheart for Christmas. And hopefully Shadows Beneath, which is only partially Cosmere, but fully awesome.

When you spend a 'shopping day' in Barnes & Noble sitting in a chair reading said Steelheart book for hours and realizing that if you want the book as a gift then you'll have to wait a week to unwrap and then finish it...

When you watch Akame ga Kill, then read (part of) Steelheart and are amazed by the similarities, despite one being fantasy anime and one being a fantasy/scifi YA novel set in America. As my brother introduced me to Akame, I will hopefully return the favor with Steelheart and finally get him hooked on Sanderson.

When you put a reminder in your Outlook calendar at work for 12/18/2014 4:00 PM EST to make sure you immediately check what Brandon's big reveal is, even if you have a work meeting at that time.

Posted

When you go to a book store an immediately go to see which of Brandon's books they have, even though you have them all signed (1st editions) in hardback, and then buy them for your friends because yenno, branching out isn't worth the money.

When you are disappointed that you already have them all because when you go to a signing, you have nothing for him to sign. So you buy more books for your friends.

When your friend recommends that you watch a French movie called Breathless and you think that it sounds like a Nalthian horror movie.

when, while at a meeting, yoou see a girl drawing stuff (mostly flowers) on the empty spaces oof the paper she was using to take notes, and you think of her as "shallan" for the rest of the meeting.

And then someone said something you really wanted to support and you were annoyied that you could not upvote him.

When you wake up on the day of finals and wish you had copperminds. You then resolve to buy some when the holiday season is over and you are no longer broke.

Then you blow the money on Sanderson books.

When you have no internet for a couple of days because New Zealand is still in the 90's and have no access to the 17th shard and the only thing to keep you going is rereading all of the Cosmere books you have on you. I may have gone slightly mad because I read all the Mistborn books, TWoK, Elantris and Emperors soul in like 2 days and I can't reread books too close together.

When you're listening to an unrelated podcast in public with another Sanderfan, hear the phrase "collect all the shards" and splutter into laughter, much to the embarassment of your family. And then the phrase 'Inquisitor' a moment later and then you have to make sure your friend has seen the carrot inquisitor :D

When you get a Christmas update in a card and it specifically mentions your friend, who you haven't seen in a while, getting into Brandon Sanderson, and you're thrilled he's a fan, too, even though it's not due to you recommendation.*

*I do have a nice group of friends that I'm in touch with more often that have gotten into Sanderson due to my intervention anyway.  Wait, did I recommend Brandon Sanderson in an old email or by phone call??? I think I did!  I think it was last Christmas when the friend that is the female half of this couple called me after accidentally leaving her husband's Christmas gifts at their house several states away.  She was looking for book suggestions while out shopping so she'd at least have a few things to give him while at her parents' house, and I told her to get Brandon Sanderson!

When you write the above and then belated realize you actually did make the recommendation to read Brandon Sanderson, only it was a year ago so was hard to recall! XD
