king of nowhere Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 I was curious, so I decided to search Amazon with just the word "saga" in the search field. In just the first four pages somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of the covers are either scantily clad men and/or women (some covers have both) or obviously chick-lit of the fantasy/supernatural variety. The other covers either look like they fall in the fantasy, horror, or graphic novel and/or manga categories. In my experience, that's no different from any other fantasy-related search. remove fantasy/supernatural, and it is no different from any other search. I blame marketing strategies. Sometimes I think I'd buy a book with a blank cover simply for how refreshing it would be that no one is trying to trick me into buying it. 2

traceria she/her Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 When you plan on making Chouta for dinner and everyone in your house is actually curious to how it will come out. Definitely a fan if you read this and also really want to know how it turned out! (If the answer is well, I'd love that recipe!) 1
BreathTaker he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) I will let you know. It will either be Monday or Tuesday. I'm thinking of buying some thin strips of beef, breading it and pan frying it. Make gravy from the grease because yum. Cooking up some brown rice and putting it all on some Pita and going to town on it. I'm still up in the air as to what meat to use but right now beef sounds about right, maybe some thin pork chops. Can anyone find the passage where The Lopen gets his and describes it so I can remember what else I need? Also, what kind of beer would go good with Herdazian food? Probably not Horneater ale (Either an Imperial Pale Ale or Imperial Stout, Idon't remember if it's dark or light.) Maybe an easy Pale Ale or even... no, I won't do a Lager... Brown Ale and Scoth Ale might be colse to Horneater status too now that I think about it. Edit: What Earth- equivalent culture is the closest to Herdazian? Edited October 31, 2014 by BreathTaker 1
Flywinged he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 When you go to the post-office to pick up a package containing hardcover copies of the mistborn trilogy and the man behind the counter asks if you ordered bars of metal. And then you start hysterically laughing 'cause Allomancy. Meanwhile the guy behind the counter is cracking up too because he thinks you're laughing at his terrible joke. 9

Fatebreaker he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Also, what kind of beer would go good with Herdazian food? Edit: What Earth- equivalent culture is the closest to Herdazian? Well, the Herdazians are pretty much based off of Hispanics, so Tequila. And if you wanted it to be accurate...http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/13137-rosharans-are-cannibals-sort-of/?hl=cannibals 4
BreathTaker he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 No, no tequila for this half-mexican. I guess a Tecate or Modelo would go good with it... And Storm it Fate! I was hoping that wouldn't come up hahaha. 2

I don't know if enough of chouta is described to make it, but good luck trying. The closes earth-equivalent to herdazians are spanish or perhaps mexicans. 1
Fatebreaker he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) Or you could go with my kind of hispanic and choose rum. The unofficial national drink of Puerto Rico. And generally when I'm involved cannibalism always comes up. Probably why I'm in the Alley... Completely unrelated, would any one like a cookie?
