No no when Ene mentioned me in  Sanderson Memes that one time I nearly died from fear.

That, my friend, is nothing. As my buddy Shard of Reading here said,

Well... Writer here made a meme video about chaos. It was 8 minutes of sharders beating him up. I don't know why they aren't dead.

And that is one of like, one of five things that I did. And those were 'targeted' at the Head Admin, sooo... B) Let's just say I have been around the block and then some.

And as for how I'm not dead, believe me, I got close. Let's just say I don't look at their colorful names and not have a slight twinge of dread (not fear) and some other feelings.

You really don't need to be scared unless you're breaking the rules or being rude. (Which aren't things to be proud of, by the way, they're things to avoid.)

So, I've mentioned my history teacher on the Shard before, but this is something that happened recently and that I'm still ridiculously happy about.

Maybe two months ago I was reading The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher, and, as usual, I was just carrying it around. I do this so I don't hurt the book while it's in my backpack, and so I can start reading the instant I feel like it. And for things like this. So, I had it out on my desk, and in the middle of class my history teacher looked over, and said, "Jim Butcher is a great author," and then went right on talking about the Abbasid Caliphate. And so, as one does, I went up to him after class and asked if I could recommend a book. I just said "Brandon Sanderson." He was familiar with him due to tWoT, but was more keen on discussing the fact that I haven't read The Dresden Files. (They're on my list, by the way). So after that, I went on my way.

Then, after I finished that book, I started rereading the era one MB books. I did this so I could kind of get into the Sanderson spirit for the RoW release, and because my friend is reading MB as well. (It's taking him forever, by the way). Soooo I also had these books sitting out on my desk as I was reading them. Maybe three weeks ago, when I had just started tWoA, after class he asked me to come talk to him. I was kind of freaking out, 'cause, you know, teachers are terrifying. But then he asked if he should actually read them, and stuff like that. So we talked about that (I told him about the Cosmere, too, in which he seemed genuinely interested) and then we talked about tWoT tv show, the new LotR show, he and my friend who's reading MB talked about The Mandalorian, and then we all talked about tLotR movies. (I also made this same friend watch them, because he never had).

So I'm going to get one of those $8 copies of MB, ask if he's started reading any of them yet, and if not, give it to him. If he has, then I have a copy I can lend out to people! Although he might like WB better... I'll have to think on it.

So YKYAASFW you write out that whole thing (and when that whole thing happened) and are really happy about it.

When you have a ridiculous amount of Sanderson quotes memorized (not on purpose) and keep finding ways to apply them to stuff you're talking about in English. (Such as, "Every man is the hero of his own story" when we were reading Frankenstein).

We were having a discussion about ethics in school and I kind of destroyed by stealing all Dalinar quotes.

When you're sad because you know you are going to have to avoid half the shard because RoW might take a bit to come in.

We all did that let's face it. My desk is at the door so that's a plus side.

I imagine we did.

Mine isn't, which means the teachers will know if it comes.  If it comes, I'm just gonna have it unopened on my desk until school is over, or I will start reading.

When you don't actually sleep, you just kinda... doze and dream that you saw spoilers.

Ooh! Use "And by that I mean laying in a puddle of my own urine and demanding the nurse for more pudding" -Hoid in Oathbringer

That's by far the best.

When even though you know for a fact that the mail doesn't come until after noon, you're still very tempted to go check the front porch for any packages.

There's a chance my book won't even get here today...

When your to-do list today looks like:

Spoiler
  • Late assignments
  • Current assignment
  • Driver's ed
  • Finish the last fifty pages of tWoA
  • Start reading RoW
  • Watch the RoW launch
  • NaNoWriMo
  • Try not to check the porch every five minutes

Let me fix that to-do list for you:

Ah yes. Much better.

Stupid school, always trying to get rid of all the fun stuff.

(But I am going to finish tWoA before starting RoW. I'm almost done. I'm also reading five books at the moment, so I'm trying to cut that number down).

Teacher: Use your favorite book to help you with your resolution.

Me: I don't think I can use mine.

Teacher: Oh just try. What is it about?

Me: It's a book about a man facing immortality trying to come back to life, becoming a god, fighting Hoid, and punching gods.

Teacher: . . . How about your second favorite book?

Me: It's a book about a man creating community in hell, a priest facing internal debates about his religion. And a woman overthrowing a kingdom and teaching a bunch of nobles to fight with swords.

Teacher: Your parents let you read this kind of stuff?

Me: Yes.

Teacher: I need to talk to your parents.

Well for me it would be:

Teacher: What's your favorite book?

Me: It's complicated

Teacher: Tell me anyway.

Me: Are you sure?

Teacher: Yes

Me: *Begins 30 minute monoleg explaining the whole plot of SA up to the end of oathbringer*

Yes, I know that's spelled wrong. Spellcheck is broken for me.

You know you're a sanderfan when you make a plot to hijack the school intercom and say "does adonalsium mean anything to you?" I must know if there are other sanderfans in my school...

Do, do, do, do right now! I must hear how this happens if you do it (and what your punishment was)

I really want to, but I doubt I would survive the punishment...

When your teacher says “You are normally such a good student, why did you just sit in the back and mumble ‘Row Row Row’ all class yesterday?”

Posted

When you're just dejectedly sitting around your house with a random stud earing in your left ear, having just finished tWoA but not having gotten RoW yet...

(I have the earing as I'm hoping to cosplay as Vin at some point.)

When you go to get some chocolate chips to make cookies, but there are only 4 bags left. You first think that the voidbringers had raided your storage, then you realize that you just eat WAY to much chocolate, almost as much as Lift eats other food.

*That was a reference to Oathbringer, when Kaladin is hunting the Voidbringers*

Don’t read this one unless you have read Oathbringer
