The question is are you heavily invested or not if so then effecting you will be most difficult.

I actually did the exact same thing for the exact same reason.

 

... when you stop the new book series you got addicted to to read the new Oathbringer chapters, then proceed to scream more loudly at that than the dramatic scenes in the new series. And I really liked the new series, so much so that I read all five books between 3pm Tuesday and 11pm Wednesday.

When you break out in hives from head to toe (literally. My face was all swollen up, and it looked like I had little sausages for toes) and your first thought upon waking up and seeing them is, "Well, off to Elantris I go!"

But they are mostly gone now. Thankfully.

Oh man, that sounds horrendous! Maybe it's time to see an allergy specialist and test if you're reacting to something unexpected?

We think it is this new brand of dryer sheets. And the allergist down here doesn't have an open spot till October.

I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. I turns out I am very much allergic to lavender (my clothes were washed in a lavender detergent). I somehow must of developed a allergy later in life.

This is actually normal. You have to be exposed to something to develop an allergy. 

I learned this the hard way. I ran around barefoot everywhere as a kid. Got stung by bees a lot. 

My 14th or 15th sting hurt. I knew something was different, and 10 minutes later my foot was swelling. 

I learned that day that you have to develop an allergy. Things your born with are usually some kind of immune deficiency, where allergies are an immune overreaction.

Or, they decrease over time. Like when I was four-ish, I had a horrible cat allergy. But now I can be around cats and be just fine as long as I wash my hands afterwards.

My sister has a HORRIBLE cat allergy. Like really bad asthma and getting laid out in bed for a couple days type allergy.

Also, I'm allergic to horses as well. Which is really sad because I love horses.

I used to have a mild allergy to cats. If I was exposed to too much cat hair, especially getting it on my face, then my eyes would get itchy and watery and my nose would either run or get clogged up. But now I seem to be mostly desensitized: I can cuddle a shedding cat and the most annoying thing that usually happens is getting the occasional hair in my mouth. No runny nose or watery eyes.

When your biggest dilemma is whether to preorder oathbringer in hardcover (as the tor version paperback isn't available in au) and have it not match your other paperback SA books, or to wait until it comes out in paperback. Which I have no intention of doing, but still!!!!

Yeah for me I just get a really bad rash and my face swells up. Unless it's gotten better - I wouldn't know as I haven't been horse riding in a while

I thought that most cases of "born allergies" were a similar response that is typically called such, but isn't technically an allergy. Like people allergic to water or sunlight. It's easier to say "allergy" than to try and describe what the actual cause is.
