You are doing it all wrong.

First, spike out the mental aspects of the boy (mental and emotional spikes, preferably Atium)

Then soulcast the body into wood.

The awaken it in a way that would accept spikes, wasting a large amount of Breaths, and  put the spikes  back in, resulting in an insane creature with shattered pieces of memories of its prior existence. Enjoy.
