the_archduke Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Lift crushing on Sigzil? Zahel gone from the tower? Shallan with extra getting to Shadesmar abilities? Why did she see 3 figures? Where are their spren? Lift staring at Drehy? Puberty hitting her hard. Wow Gav is a messed up kid. Sad. 4
BinarySecond Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I'm glad that Lift is there helping Gav, very much living her oaths. I'm glad he's got someone. Lift continues to be endearing but damn girl, you'll need to deal with reality sooner or later. 6
the_archduke Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 My name is Gavinor Kholin. You killed my father. Prepare... to die. Gavinor better be the one who gets to kill Vyre in books 6-10 10

CtrlAltDepressed Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Loved the stuff about Corrupted Truthwatching. That was super interesting. Just off the top of my head, seems like it is fortelling that Renarin is going to become more intwined with Listener culture. The part about Shinovar was really interesting. He got a sense of peace from it, and clearly the Heralds were there. I guess that is implying Kaladin will be at least partially successful in his therapy attempts. Who is the blue skinned woman? That was weird. Brandon just had to mention Vasher. I really hope we see some of him soon. BAM is really really upset. It might be better for everyone if she just didnt come back. I dont know if you can fix the deadeyes without her, but if you can, do that instead Edited November 11, 2024 by CtrlAltDepressed 5

KaladinWorldsinger Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Child Champion stocks are rising!!!!! It does feel really wierd that everyone is suddenly talking about the Old God's. Feels like Brandon setting up stuff he should have set up books ago. Mishram is totally evil, and wants to Break it All. Fun! 5
Ninth of the Night Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Quote “Mmm…” Pattern said, moving onto her clothing. “I am very glad you did not get killed while I was not here. I should like to be there when you die. It is a thing friends do for friends.” This is why Pattern is my favorite spren. His dry humor always gets me while he doesn't even recognize it as humor. Renarin/Rlain chapter was exceptional. Quote “You are normal,” Drehy said. “Or rather, nobody is normal. Normal doesn’t exist. So if we slavishly try to dress ourselves to imitate it, all we’re really doing is becoming a different kind of abnormal—a miserable kind.” This quote needs to be plastered on every billboard in the world. Also if Shallan's next decision isn't to immediately go inform Dalinar about the Ghostbloods I'm gonna be mad. 12

Feels like Brandon setting up stuff he should have set up books ago. I think it still makes sense in-world because the old gods are so old they have been basically inconsequential for ages now. They've even been replaced by the Stormfather, Sibling, and Nightwatcher. One of them 'left', one is dying and has been vaguely speaking too / interacting with / observing Kaladin, and one is probably hiding in the Horneater peaks or something. Also - I've been doing my re-read in tandem with these new chapters, and have been shocked by all the times that the Wind is referenced even in The Way of Kings. When Kaladin is in the 'zone' when fighting the description is that he becomes one with the wind, or that the wind and air warps around him, stuff like that. There is even a time when he is in the slave carts and drops his poison leaves on the floor of the cart, and then the wind comes through and blows them away.. which to me felt intentional now knowing about the old gods and Kaladin's connection to the Wind. Stuff like that happens all throughout each book and I've been impressed with the foreshadowing actually. I also think it would have been a little too much to try and incorporate the lore of the Wind and the other old gods earlier. There was already so much going on and there is so much in way more recent and still super ancient history that our characters are figuring out and trying to understand. Wit only really gets into the details about the Wind with Kaladin because he knows that Kaladin can hear the Wind. And after realizing that Odium has a new vessel who was able to best him and take some of his memories, he is grasping for any straws that he can. He isn't even hopeful that it will work though. So I think the whole Old Gods stuff is kind of coming up at an appropriate time as they reach for any possible solution. 11

CognitiveShadow he/him Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 There seem to be a lot of warnings about the dangers of too much investiture becoming self-aware. Like a shard that is left alone too long and gains sentience.... is this foreshadowing what might happen at the end of the book? Or is it possible that when they try to access Honor's power it is too late and it already has too 'personified' too much (for lack of a better term)? Alternatively, do we know what BAM really is? Is she just a spren, which is basically personified investiture already, who was then corrupted by Odium? Would it be possible for BAM to have connected herself to Honor's power while they have been trapped together in the Spiritual Realm all this time, at least enough to the point where she would be able to take up Honor's power herself if freed from the gemstone? That would certainly be an interesting predicament.

Sibling also kinda starts talking about the older God's kinda out of nowhere. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a little wierd 4 minutes ago, The Sovereign said: I suspect it is related to her ability to Connect to a large number of people and affect Identity as we have seen with the Singers. How does that connect to moving Stormlight in a gem away from Roshar? 1
Siamer Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Lift’s secret handshake with Gav and Windellis so precious. I hope to see the two of them together more now. Also the person with blue skin and white hair is totally Syl in the human realm from Ishar’s experiments right? Oh my god!!! 9

But didn’t they say that the blue skin person was draining from the vision? She may not have long in the physical realm before dying. Any ideas on how the remaining people of the 12 could be. Likely Kal, Szeth, Syl?, and Ishar. That leaves eight open slots. 1
The Sovereign Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 9 minutes ago, KaladinWorldsinger said: How does that connect to moving Stormlight in a gem away from Roshar? As far as we know when BAM was trapped it stripped away the Identity of all the Singers she was Connected to. While that seems to have been an unintended consequence, the same principle could be used to unkey Stormlight/Voidlight/Lifelight en mass. While the Rosharans are figuring out how to make Unkeyed Stormlight, the process seems very slow and limited to small quantities. The Ghostbloods are looking for a way to do it in large scale. On another note I had a random thought regarding the Physical Body Spren experiments Ishar is conducting; I suspect he is using the same principle that creates the Herald's bodies during each return to create the Spren bodies. 4
who_slew_aicirtap she/they Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Aaaah the new chapter icon with Renarin and Rlain!!!! I'm so glad this is canon 2
Confused Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) It's confirmed! Renarin becomes Odium's Vessel! He sits on Odium's throne as representative of both Singers and humans. He will learn Roshar's Rhythms and see deep into the future's cathedral. In my Roshar's Magical History post, I predict Dalinar will become the living entity Roshar's Bondsmith. He will wield all 16 Investitures on Roshar without regard to Intent. Roshar's Rhythms will guide him. The Knights of Wind and Truth - Kaladin and Szeth - are Bondsmiths who serve Dalinar as they do now as Radiants. I predict in that post Dalinar will Ascend as Honor, kill Taravangian, then transfer Honor to Leshwi in exchange for her oath to protect Roshar. Until today, I did not know who would Ascend as Odium. I now think it's Renarin. He too will bind himself to Dalinar to protect Roshar. (And I still think Lift will Ascend as Cultivation; Koravellium will weary of godhood without Tanavast.) When future outworlders and their Shards come to steal Stormlight, Roshar will be ready. Other stuff: These chapters are about all kinds of relationships. The Lift-Gavinor interactions touch deeply. (Though what five-year-old has that vocabulary and perfect diction?!) The relationship between Tumi and Glys seems to mirror Rlain's and Renarin's. All four work together to piece out the future. That future is BAM. Yikes! Even Listeners have bad memories of the Queen of the Gods! Shallan looks like she recovers from the anti-Light attack without lingering effect. Surprising. Anti-Light seems less dangerous when evading the Investiture easily counteracts it. That's all for now! Approaching my 500th post! All the best. C. Edited November 11, 2024 by Confused 1
alder24 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Anti-Stormlight did no lasting damage to Shallan as expected unfortunately, but a new thing (I think) seems to be that Radiants of higher Oaths are less porous to light. Why? What changes about their body that they leak less light? Was it mentioned before? I don’t remember that part. And in the end they captured all of Ghostbloods except for the three main guys. Of course they did, of course the mission went almost perfectly. I’m so utterly disappointed by how all of this was executed. Shallan basically single-handedly destroyed the Rosharan cell of Ghostbloods in one sweeping strike, one of "the most powerful secret organizations in Cosmere." Just like this, with barely no effort… Lift spending time with Gavinor and telling him to do stuff he isn’t supposed to do seems like a foreshadowing of the child champon theory. But truthfully, everything in this book seems like a foreshadowing of some theory. It’s like Brandon is reading them all… I think there might be some error with the chicken because at the end of RoW Dalinar said that Wyndle is carrying this red chicken with him, but now Lift said she hasn’t seen him since her imprisonment. She also healed the bird when she saved him in I-5 so why is it still hurt? It’s error or did he just leave Wyndle before Lift found him? Or maybe Wyndle is hiding him? Maybe that’s not Wyndle at all, maybe that's a Wyndle-Faker?? Lift stares at people a lot - she’s crushing on everybody who's passing by her - she’s definitely growing up. She should file a complaint to Cultivation at this point. Oh no! Dalinar doesn't have time to play with swords with little Gav. That’s very bad and sad. Poor Gavinor just wants to be loved by somebody. This breaks my heart! Odium will be pleased. Renarin’s visions are interesting. The first one seems to be about him becoming a king of Aletekhar under Singer rule, next one is the Everstorm, next one is from Dalinar’s vision (death rattle rattles in my mind!) which seems to suggest somehow that Dalinar will confront Odium in this vision, maybe, something idk, 12 people in Shinovar, that’s the Bridge Four finding peace in Shinovar (physical Syl, Sig and Rock are there). And the last one is BAM as seen with Atium - well, they see the future so it works the same. And because of her, they could see what she might be able to do once freed. And in the end looks like we have now know exactly when the Last Legion abandoned Odium - during the False Desolation. 7
GudThymes he/him Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Is it possible that the "Everstorm" we saw was a fakeout? I'm thinking back to the earlier epigraphs about reconsidering the storm: Quote The Wind told me, before she vanished, that it was the change in Odium’s vessel that restored her voice. I wonder. Perhaps it is the new storm, making people begin to reconsider that the wind is not their enemy. What if what Rlain assumed is the Everstorm is actually some new version of the high storm?
